So you guys have a lot of fog, too...

What do you call it over there, pea-soupers? :)
Pea-soupers were common when I was young, caused by smoking coal fires and factories using coal. It was a ghastly yellow green colour tinged with grey, and towns and villages couldn't be seen from the hills. At its worst, usually in November trying to cross the road was highly dangerous. Then we had laws banning smoke and smokeless coal arrived and cleaner air.

Well; what a difference a week makes! at least here in the PNW; we got a present from the tropics of the S. Pacific; they call it the "pineapple Express" storm winds from the S. West.:)
I thought it was hot in the house this morning with the heat off; it's 55F outside on it's way to 58-62F this afternoon:

Hot here and no sign of rain at all in the next few days. The whole country is in for a scorcher this weekend, they say, in excess of 30C in many areas.

The temperature right now is 36. We get rain today at 12noon, and at 8pm.

Wow! You guy's back there in the east; got them forecasters on the ball; your rain comes on schedule!:D

Out here in the west; they shoot with old rusty six-guns; couldn't hit a three-day forecast to save their lives!:p

Oh dear, that does sound suspect when you put it that way. Like maybe they send airplanes up to seed the clouds just so the forecasters don't look like liars or something. ^_^

Maybe if they used airplanes they'd have a better track record? :D

I was surprised myself how bad it could get

Before we moved here to the Eugene area; we lived on the Oregon coast; 7 miles inland; and the ocean moderates the weather; so it normally never gets lower then 50F in the winter to maybe 70-80F in the summer; and usually stays around 60-70F.

It does have it's storms, fog, and lots of rain; but that is what I liked about it.:)

I've been told by a UK resident; that the Oregon coast's weather is a lot like the UK's. Maybe that's why I took to it so well; seeing as my ancestors; are from Scotland, Ireland, and England. :)
How long is it since your ancestors moved to the US mnorian? :)

70-80F would be the usual warmer temps for UK summers, although they have been higher and we had a heat wave in 2018. Our winters can be down to the 30s, and even 20s, and quite often are in the 40s-50s (which is where they are now). However compared to some of the US weather I've read about here the Oregon coast probably is the nearest to the UK. It sounds nice there. :)

As far as we could research years ago; my paternal clan came over around the 1840's; lived in the New York city area and upper NY state till the 1880's then my Grandfather and his brother; moved to the northern Minnesota area; in the 1900's; where my family; on that side; still live.

It sounds like the UK is warming up with other parts of the world.
And yes; the Oregon coast; and N. Calif and S. Washington state coasts; can be; in the late summer; the only section of the whole lower 48 states; NOT to be in a heat wave.

Before we moved over here for health reasons; we didn't know how hot it would get here most summers; I miss the coast.

Here in the North West the climate is about the same as usual. Cold, wet, sunny this morning crisp and dry.
Thanking the Lord for a very good heating system and a warm home.

You and me both MP; our house is well insulated; it's only 45F outside but it's 68F indoors with no heat on; plenty warm for me.

As for the outside; it's momentarily clear (wait 15 minutes--it will change--this is Oregon after all):D

We are still in our rainy season with much coming this week; with some of the local streams and rivers over flood stage already; so they will only get worse; but that's normal for this time of the year:

If anyone is interested where all that water comes from; here is a Sat image from GEOS west. Those yellow clouds just north of Hawaii; is a giant storm coming from the west Pacific directed right at Oregon; it's supposed to go clear across the country and cause more snow and rain east of the rocky's:

I've missed this over a week because of illness. It's 39F here and dry in Central Oklahoma. We've had a mixture of rain, snow, and ice over the week.
