  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

We've just come through Christmas....gift buying....gift sending. In some future event in the Bible it reveals they'll be two prophets who'll be given incredible power or authority to bring judgments but God will allowed them to eventually to be slain. They'll arise from the dead soon after but before they do the ungodly word will celebrate their deaths by doing something strange.....sending each other gifts!

Not a very peculiar reaction? The only thing we can think of that compares to this in modern culture is birthday presents or Christmas....so what's the mindset of what's going on here with this? Any thoughts?

"The inhabitants of the earth will gloat over them and will celebrate by sending each other gifts, because these two prophets had tormented those who live on the earth."

It's a middle eastern tradition of celebration. Palestinians oftentimes have parades of sorts where they throw candy to the crowds. It's almost like Mardis Gras in New Orleans.

Interesting. I've often thought the verse I mentioned quite peculiar. As I said it almost seems like Christmas.

And I've thought of that before. How ironic it'd be that Christmas really is about God and Jesus and here these people are maybe deceived in thinking they're doing God a favor by murdering two of his prophets.

Maybe the two witnesses are used metaphorically for two other days, besides X-mas.

It is a bit odd, but maybe no more than a declared holiday due to a traumatic event?

Got me.

I've told non Christians to watch out for that whole scenario as proof the word of God is true. I'd think whist more do we need than prophesy coming to pass, but I'd guess for most, it's like they say, if they don't believe it now, they won't believe it then, and will come up with some bogus explanation for it not being actual prophecy.

UPS is going to be awful busy with returns when they come back to life. :D

Yeah I believe it's important to share these little items of things to non Christians.....when they start happening and they can see it in the Bible it might get at least some's attention.

My hope exactly.

Revelation 11: 8 Their bodies will lie in the street of the great city—figuratively called Sodom and Egypt—where their Lord was also crucified.

What is that city, or what city do we figuratively call Sodom?"

The Roman Empire is the Beast. It didn't die 2000 years ago but kept on existing and lording over world affairs with subtlety and cunning, hidden from plainsight.

Now, here's the disturbing part, Rome is where the first Christmas took place. The date is the Roman winter solstice. So who's God are they celebrating and what did they kill? Obviously, first is Jesus and then they also killed the Gospel, replacing it with their fabricated religion.
