  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

What is your Myers-Briggs personality type?

I did an online Myers-Briggs test a few weeks ago, and I was surprised by how accurately the descriptions of my INTJ result fitted me.

Here's a description of my INTJ type.

This is a rather amusing description of what someone can expect when dating an INTJ.

And lastly, a list of other types that the INTJ type would best be matched with.

Is anyone else brave enough to share their Myers-Briggs type?

The test I took is accessible here. If you do the test, try not to overthink or dwell on any one question for too long.

INTJ here as well.

I didn't take the Myers-Briggs. But did take a similar online test awhile back, and it described me quite accurately. What it said regarding dating is so true; I spend a lot of time analyzing in the beginning, and plan out every move very carefully.

I'm not sure what personality type I would get along best with. Although, I do think someone who's very energetic, spontaneous or extroverted would balance me out well. At the same time though, they could drive an INTJ absolutely bonkers haha.

Meeting a fellow INTJ would be interesting; we could plan world domination and global conquest on our first date.

'There are a lot of good reasons to worry about this technology. Imagine an advertising company that knows you’re self-conscious about your weight, so tries to sell you diet pills. Or—in a hypothetical that often comes up in this kind of discussion—imagine a political campaign that knows you’re prone to anxiety, so targets you with ads about the dangers of the Islamic State. “Big data companies already know your age, income, favorite cereal and when you last voted,” notes a New York Times report on Cambridge Analytica. “But the company that can perfect psychological targeting could offer far more potent tools: the ability to manipulate behavior by understanding how someone thinks and what he or she fears.”' ... That's seriously impressive! Especially considering that I detest Facebook, and haven't logged in for several years!

More fun Myers-Briggs stuff. This time explaining why you are still single.

INTJ
You’re single because: You over-analyze social interactions to the point where it seems easier to just avoid them altogether.

You’ll get into a relationship when: A hell-bent ENFP follows you around for a long enough period of time that you eventually just accept that you’re dating.

Sorry, just relating info on how you are giving out personal data to those who will use it against you as your profile builds.

One annoying issue for female INTJ's in the dating environment is often the pressure to dumb down to the level of the guy so that he won't feel threatened. And then you don't want to date them anyway because conversation is too shallow and thus becomes a snooze-fest.

I don't think many INTJ men would feel threatened. On the contrary, most would probably enjoy a bit of verbal sparring. One of my ex girlfriends was very intelligent, but that made her interesting to me, rather than threatening. The times I lose interest in debating are when I detect that someone's position is mainly ideological, or that they are playing devil's advocate. Apart from that, I'm usually up for a bit of a debate. If I don't know much about or don't understand a topic, then I'm usually happy to just listen to what someone has to say. Anyway, it sounds like you'd be bored without some kind of intellectual stimulation, so I guess you'll have to keep fishing in the small pool of men who can offer what you need.

True, but INTJ men are something like 2% of the population, so the vast majority of men are of some other type.

According to the test in the link you provided, I'm an INTJ:

Introvert(66%) iNtuitive(72%) Thinking(25%) Judging(66%)
  • You have distinct preference of Introversion over Extraversion (66%)
  • You have distinct preference of Intuition over Sensing (72%)
  • You have moderate preference of Thinking over Feeling (25%)
  • You have distinct preference of Judging over Perceiving (66%)

However, the types that most resonate with me are INTP and INFJ. It's like I'm some kind of chimera.

All except for three people in this topic scored INTJ so far.

Very prestigious personality type it seems.
Or relatively common on message boards.

Oddly enough, two of my siblings also test as INTJ. Our personalities are markedly different, yet we share this relatively uncommon MBTI result? Something doesn't add up.

Realistically, I don't think people can be accurately sorted into 16 distinct personality types. Everybody has a unique combination of temperament, experience, quirks, and aspirations.

There are reasons why psychologists use the Big Five rather than the MBTI for assessing personality. Nevertheless, the MBTI can be fun.

The Myers-Briggs is a little bit simplistic as it puts you into one or the other for each trait when in reality it's more of a spectrum. Going by various descriptions of the personality types, INTJ does seem to be the best fit for me, but some of the other types could easily apply to me as well. I'm definitely I, but the other three aren't quite so clear-cut.

So I think the important thing about Myers-Briggs is not to take it too seriously. Especially when you start getting into things like which personality type is best suited for each other personality type as then it starts resembling astrology.

Also, you need to see what type best shows as consistent over a long period of time before making a more accurate determination. So while someone taking a single internet test *may* actually be INTJ, there is no history of consistency yet. Going through a period of mental or physical illness could affect results to something outside the norm for that person when healthy. Also, internet tests are a good bit different from the official test interpreted by a qualified analyst.
