Is this priest going to start refusing communion to those that admit voting for pro-choice Democrats?

Seems like he's setting a precedent here.

If they voted like that
my bet is that they
would not tell their priest.

Ever notice how
one sin just leads to another?

Biden denied communion at South Carolina church over abortion stance, report says
“Holy Communion signifies we are one with God, each other and the Church. Our actions should reflect that. Any public figure who advocates for abortion places himself or herself outside of Church teaching.”

&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&

Although I am not Catholic, I have a lot of respect for this priest that refused communion to Biden.
For A Mighty Good Reason.
All churches should follow his lead.

Any church should deny communion to those people who support abortion, homosexual marriage or any thing that is directly contrary to the word of God. While communion is not for the perfect, it is also not for those who are unrepentant and living in sin. Biden, Pelosi, Trump etc. should all be denied communion.

There will come a day when we, too, will be commanded by to Lord to do something, and will be denied the opportunity to do so by others because their beliefs do not match 100% with ours. We will call it righteous persecution, as foretold in the bible. I will call it reaping what I have sown.......as foretold in the bible.

When one comes into our homes, we have a right to demand shoes be taken off or the belief that the earth is round, and deny drink or entrance if they do not. A Sad day when we start treating the "Lords house" like it belongs to us.

President Donald Trump is twice divorced thrice married, tells lies in public, boasts of his lewd desires and claims to have engaged in lewd acts so ought he be denied communion?

It's a tribal thing I think. Dressing in moral outrage isn't very convincing.

No, it's a Catholic thing. They have authoritative Priests who are entrusted with Communion-denying authority (if need be). Trump is not a Catholic. In the context of Catholicism, Pelosi and Biden and many others should be denied communion, having publicly cowered to stand for--even egregiously contradicting-- the Church and her position on abortion.

Just having certain opinions about abortion, homosexuality, etc. does not by itself prohibit communion. It is just an opinion, nothing more, until a person acts on it by having an abortion herself.

Donald Trump is an abortion opponent so I don't know why you named him. But to ban all people who are unrepentant and living in sin from taking communion would mean not having the ritual at all because even priests sin.

This is the sort of thing Americans were afraid of when JFK was running. The fear that Catholic politicians would be controlled by the Pope has pretty much vanished now, because of course there's no evidence for it. But it's disquieting to see the attempt made.

Biden does not advocate abortion. He accepts the Catholic position. However he thinks it's improper for the US to enforce it by law, since most of our citizens aren't Catholics.
Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is an active Catholic that also advocates things like abortion or gay rights as a Liberal (the party name he is head of). He publicly says that as a Catholic he holds his own personal views but as the leader of Canada he is obligated to act on what [he thinks] is best for the country not what's best for his faith or personal views and sees them as separate. From my knowledge, he has never been denied communion and has even taken it while wearing rainbow socks and spoke at the mass.

Could the Catholic church be a bit timid with active world leaders but no so timid when they are no longer active in their roles? Canon Law states that those who are "obstinately persevering in manifest grave sin are not to be admitted to Holy Communion." I know we all cheer the priest but did he actually have a right to deny a baptized Catholic seeking the Eucharist because of his political position? Could this denial be more politically motivated itself?

According to his supporters, he shouldn't be judged for his sins. In fact, a few of his supporters will quickly respond with "Who among us is without sin?" or "Show us a perfect person" or "I voted for a President, not a Pastor" whenever his repeated immoral behavior is in question. However, this passive leniency toward Trump's sinful behavior is never extended to any Democrat by his supporters.

Trump's overall behavior in office is obviously OT so I only mentioned him in the limited scope of abortion views.

Back to Joe Biden, it is completely wrong for any preacher - pastor, priest, whatever you call him - to say just because he opposes legislating abortion bans, he is ineligible to take communion. If Biden aligns with the Catholic Church on abortion, it is idiotic for him to be denied communion by . . . a Catholic priest. I am not willing to accept anyone's opinions about abortion legislation as a reason to deny communion.

Trump supports sodomite marriage. That alone should bar him from communion in any protestant church worth anything.

It seems a bit like posturing and grandstanding, but hey, I think they hoped that it would.
Agreed...especially since the priest felt the need to email the South Carolina Morning News and tell them.

If that was their hope, they were sinning just by having a communion because the Bible says communion is a command to commemorate Jesus and nobody else. Scripture does not say communion is for people who never sin anymore.
