It's about a real life story of a guy committing suicide with a gun in front of an crowd of spectators.

Yeah one of my best friends from high-school committed suicide :( But that's not the friends it reminds me of.

I'm sorry to hear that. I never knew anyone that took their own life. Why the "Prayers" rating? I was just letting you know who the band wrote the song about, not my personal interpretation of the lyrics.

I heard the lead singer, Richard Patrick, talking about it on satellite radio years ago. He caught a lot of flack for making a song about something as personal as suicide, but he felt justified because the guy called a press conference to do it. Because the guy wanted his death to be a spectacle, he felt like writing a song about it was almost like honoring him. He wouldn't have written the song about someone's private battle with depression.

No worries, my best friends pain is over. I don't really associate a song with it's origins either. If it's a good tune then I listen. I'm also a fan of Nirvana though. And he died too.
