Praying, just be ready for the Lord to address many other things at the roots of this addiction and at the roots of sin overall. He is a consuming fire who is out to redeem us to be His own and restore us to His image from every way sin has marred us.

You probably need to be delivered from an evil spirit. You can drive it out yourself or enlist the help of someone who knows their authority in Christ. Make sure that you rid yourself of any material that feeds the addiction. Feed on the Word, especially where it declares victory over sin. Remember it is by grace you are saved. That is not just a one off, but for your lifetime. Grace is the Life of Christ within you, ready to be all that you want to be but cannot be. You let Jesus live instead of you and you will be transformed.

In addition to the special prayers, you also should pray the prayer Christ gave for you, to not be led into temptation, but to be delivered from evil, as He said this prayer to us, in Matthew chapter 6 -- a daily prayer. It makes a difference! Pray with total faith: this prayer is from Christ Jesus!

It is likely needed to do whatever it takes (Bible Gateway passage: Matthew 5:29 - English Standard Version) also for the future to avoid falling again into it to remove the sources of temptation from your sight, such as removing access or avoiding places that lead to it. That could mean for instance not just throwing away any similar thing (even novels, art that is alike to that, etc.), but if that isn't enough, then (if that wasn't enough) to also remove the access way you normally would take to fall into it, such as even adding software that blocks sites, or taking a different route when driving so you avoid a way to be tempted again.

There is a book based on the Christian classic about inappropriate contentography entitled, Every Man's Battle. It is called Every Woman's Battle. There are workshops that go with it. I am guessing there might be some support/accountability groups that you could find through those avenues one way or another.

If you are very healthy, a once a week 24 hour water only fast can work wonders, with prayers of course.

I agree with someone above that such an addiction can be demonic. However it is hard to find deliverance ministers and how do you know they don't just maybe sometimes make things worse - as some have reported?

I believe that you can be delivered without some else's intervention, except for the Lord of course. I hope you don't try and try to do better. You have seen that trying doesn't work at all, except for maybe a very short time. The only way to try is to try and try to surrender it all to our Savior until you really do that. He "came to set the captives free." Claim that, plead His Blood. "The Battle is the Lord's."

Father, I pray that those dealing with this addiction will find what worked for others that were delivered from the addiction, and what must still be continued to be followed for not wandering back into this sin. May they learn of the very practical steps to take, and not just be given generalities, cliches, and advice that doesn't really produce the desired results. Amen.
