How does God reveal Himself?
. Refreshing, renewing, real experience speaking to our heart!Today I attended parish communion and after sharing the Peace, a gentleman came and sat next to me in the pews. He was very muddled, kept mumbling and wanted to show me things he was writing down on a piece of paper. He didn't seem to be making any sense.
Our natural human instinct is to acknowledge such people, to be polite but to ignore what is being said and focus instead on what we are doing.
But time and time again, I have often found through life that God reveals Himself to us in unexpected ways. In my own experience, I have found a great blessing in talking to people who are muddled, or who have mental health problems. In 1 Corinthians 1:27, we hear how God chooses the things we regard as "foolish" to confound the wise. I have known great things happen when a muddled person prays to Christ.
I have also had experiences where I have been blessed by spending time, talking to and listening to a complete stranger. I remember Jesus's words, "when you did it for the least of my brothers, you did it for me" (Matthew 25:40).
And so I chose to sit and listen.
