There's tons of shows that feature preaching and other spoken word, but can anyone recommend original programming that's broadcast on either network, cable, or internet channels?

I'm not looking for stuff that takes you a long time to spot the glory of God in it either. There's plenty of that stuff. I'm interested in things that are blatantly Christian. Thanks!

Edit: Examples would be stuff like "Travel the Road' & "Touched by an Angel".

Bible epics are good too.

It seems to me that radio can have good ministry.
I agree. And some of it can be adapted to TV. I have my eyes set on a certain radio program that's billed as the longest running radio drama in the history of the country. I'd love to see it adapted to the small screen. It would only take animators and paying off the voice actors for the rights.

If you are thinking about making a movie or a TV series . . . maybe actually get to know some mature senior Christian couples and hear their stories.

It seems to me that the Christian movies can be meant to cookie-cut how people should live and how they need to relate in their marriages. And the edges of the cookies fit with a lot of people and what they think people need; so they love the movies.

But really matured and developed Christians in real life, I think, can't be invented by younger, though intelligent and creative, people.

The radio broadcast I was talking about is far from watered down. Often times it tells of people coming out of very intense or graphic circumstances and getting saved. Cookie cutter Christianity has been something that has been on my mind against Christian movie producers for some time. It's either irrelevant to a lot of people's real life situations or so over the top that it's surprising a believer has made it. Anyway, I have a few ideas. But I was looking to see if anyone else has any too.

Possibly, the ones with Jesus are too busy to try to make money or get attention or try to change the world by making a movie. Who does this leave, then, to make the movies? Jesus Himself can do productions with us as His characters :) in real life. All in this universe is now already our Creator's own production.

Look at how God produced the life of Joseph > Genesis 37-50.

Now, why has God not written many more stories, of greater length and more detail? I suppose, because God wants to actually produce such lives, and not only write about them; He wants each one of us to live one of the lives which He shares with us. From what I am seeing, the real lives of maturing Christian people are much more interesting and fascinating and beneficial as examples to others, than what fictional preparers put on the screen and in books. I might watch the shows and read some things, but this is for entertainment and maybe some emotional tear-jerking; but real people in real lives, and learning how to love them and share with them, is much more interesting and beneficial and challenging :)

You bring up an excellent point. I do think God is more concerned with transforming people's lives and using them in the world for His glory. However, one of the spheres of influence in society is arts and entertainment. And it's been said that in order to truly turn the world upside again all the mountains of influence will need to be conquered. There are 7. And people before me have written on this.

If you're interested in radio, there are these two programs:
Adults : "Unshackled", a radio drama that tells real life stories of peoples journeys from sin to salvation
--> Home - Unshackled
Children/young teens (but I still listen because the stories and voice acting are very good): "Adventures in Odyssey", a radio drama that teaches biblical truths centered around interesting and funny characters living in a small town called Odyssey.
--> Whits End: Whit's End - Adventures in Odyssey

On Daystar they have a simple program called "reflections". It just shows Bible verses and natural scenery with some Christian music.

For TV shows The Rifleman is a classic. Upstanding heroic father figure. Good Western. It might not be "blatantly Christian" enough for you though.

Little House on the Prairie is pretty decent although I heard something about the actor that played the father was a bit domineering over the show production.
