Thanks. The ink is just liquitex acrylic ink and I put it in a small dish and a few drops of water. To apply I use small pant brushes. ( A fine point rigger type brush for detail, a flat and a small round. You can dip the brush in water first before picking up ink for wetter washes. Rubbing alcohol will lift up the ink off the yupo, so works like an eraser. Rubbing alcohol also works on prismacolor markers and even sharpies to a degree, but they can leave small stains. Your daughter may have been using too much water. I think the trick is using just the right amount. With the liquitex you dont even need water, but the less water, the darker the mark. I can get a full value range with just the black ink if diluted (like in the thumb nail b&w)

Ah ok, a rigger brush makes more sense. It doesn't run all over then?

Not really. If the yupo is flat the Liquitex ink stays where u put it unless you dilute it too much with water which will make it runny.

Hey all!

I do photomanipulation work, amateur style so I'd love to join the thread!

I'll have to create some new pieces for the forum..

Fantastic! Looking forward to it.

I suppose. But if there is one you like I could just give you the larger version and you could print it.

The one that caught my attention is the snail. It's very symbolic for me. I've had what i call "hurry-sickness" and the symbolism of a snail's "pace" as well as other "un-hurried" creatures, like butterflies, and light'nin bugs help remind and inspire me to "slow my roll" to a "pace of grace".

That is cool how it takes on almost a metallic look.

These were various essential oils, so different indices of refraction, which produce mirror-like surfaces where they meet each other, or the water. One of them was slightly yellow, so it looks a bit like brass at the interface. I was surprised to see this form, and just took a shot with my smartphone.

That is great! Here is the largest size I can export from that particular program. It would make a 5x7 print at about 200 dpi, or you can use it for a lock screen etc. on a phone.

On the other hand, if you really need it for a large print with that particular type of painting vector conversion doesn't lose much detail. So I could make a slightly more posterized version at basically any size you want.

Thank you!!!! Maybe just a little bigger than 5x7? I'd like to print it out and frame it.

The blending of colors and the snail "catches" the theme so well.

God bless you. :)

The first one I posted could still be printed larger than 5x7. The 200 dpi rating might be higher than what you need. You might try printing it at 8x10 and see how it comes out, as some sites indicate you can still get a pretty good quality print at 8x10 at that size.

Attached here is a vectorized version, which loses a bit of nuance, but could be printed up to 10x15 or so.

If you really want it in a large format I exported a large vector to my red bubble page and you could get it as a wall tapestry 104 x 88, a poster, a framed print, a canvass print, a photographic print, a mug, a t-shirt, a shower curtain, a throw blanket up to 80x60, etc.

But that seems like overkill.

Thank you! I didn't know you had a red bubble page.

A few watercolor on yupo sketches last night. They look less abstract and grotesque when you step back. I haven't done a portrait in a while.

They don't look grotesque at all. They're riveting. So rich with interpretation, just pouring from them, beckoning the viewer to ponder and delve into who this is and her life and soul.

Thank you for sharing these intriguing pieces.
