And the Christian is ignoring it -- welcome to the looking-glass.

If you knew me, you'd know that 1. I'm agnostic, not atheist, and 2. I find Scripture very useful, and chock full of good moral teachings... more so than far too many Christians I've known.

It means there are some things that money can't buy... ask Simon Magus.

Agreed... he didn't sell out.

Yes, I know. So when I hear Christians defend Donald's actions by pointing to the economy, I can see what they love.

Clearly nobody else has any use

In God's eyes and according to the Bible, an unbeliever dies not believe nor put His faith in God. Doesn't give you any points for claiming that you are agnostic instead of an atheist - you are both in the same boat. One is just trying to be more polite and less disagreeable, "I'm on the fence" or "Don't think we can know for sure ..."
It's a less confrontational position kind of like a centrist says, "I'm nuetral." There is no neutral zone with God, you are either with Him or without Him.
But maybe those chock full of scriptures will enlighten you someday?
Listen, defending a president for doing his job is not against Christianity.

Yes, throw out charges of "fake news" without so much as bothering to read either the original tweet, a thorough news article, or even the rest of this very thread.

But to answer your question, there was more:

Your quote started halfway through the 2nd part of his tweet, missing the core of the racist context. If that's truly all you saw of it, then somebody in conservative media land is lying to you.
So the first 41 words were directed to OMAR. He accurately described Somalia. Which words weren't true: inept, corrupt, worst, catastrophe, dysfunctional, etc.? I could add some words to that list: Muslim, evil, impoverished. Thats why her family left. But again, at 10 years old, she really didn't u derstand anything about Somalia other than what her parents told her. Four years of a refugee camp was tough for a child to endure. So coming to America was a blessing ... but it's sounds like it was a curse for her - she seems to hate it? So why not go back and really see as an adult where you came from and maybe you'll appreciate what you have here Ms. OMAR.

Where do you get the idea that she hates America? She has repeatedly expressed her love for and loyalty to America. It is pretty clear to many of us that it is her patriotism which motivates her criticism of the present administration and its policies.

Really? How many "congresswomen" is Omar? How many "countries" is she from? How many "governments" do those "countries" have?

I asked another poster (I believe in a separate thread, though at this point, I've lost track) who made this same claim if his argument was that Trump just can't grasp the different between singular and plural. I didn't get a straight answer. Would you care to take a stab at it?

The truth is that anybody with a basic grasp of the English language can read his tweet and see that he didn't direct the first part solely to Omar. Subsequent tweets also lump them all together as a group and I haven't seen him clarify his comments to make that distinction.

What exactly is the goal of the left here then? Let's say that all Americans ended up agreeing that Trump's remarks were racist. What comes next?

Hey, that would be a great goal in itself. It's getting impossible to have rational arguments about anything when there's a bizarre disagreement about even the facts. Where was Obama born? How big was Trump's inauguration parade? Did Trump tell these people to go back to their countries?

I need no points -- just accuracy.

They've failed thus far... turns out "do a I say, not as I do" is a poor witnessing strategy. Who knew?

Listen, defending a president for doing his job is not against Christianity.

Depends on how he does his job, doesn't it? Or is "the ends justify the means" a fragment of some long-lost gospel?

A president, the Executive in government has basic duties to accomplish: protect us and protect our property and rights.

And an even more basic duty is to follow the law, insuring everybody's rights are protected.

A less basic but still important duty is to be a leader, not just in terms of dollars and cents, but in terms of basic decency. Don't get me wrong; all people have flaws -- but Donald is nothing but.

But hey, if the money is good enough to yoke yourself to Donald... who am I to tell you not to enjoy it?

Just don't forget who to thank for your prosperity... He won't let you, I suspect...

Trump predicts "Market Crash the likes of which has not been seen before!" if he is not reelected in 2020

One of the main concerns in electing the president is the economy and security. Everyone including you loves a good economy.

I'm working two jobs just to keep my head above water... but then again, I never got my thirty pieces...

I can see this theory maybe fitting the current situation. And if so, I would fail to see what this might have to do with racism.
DavidPT.

The "racism" is in the content of the tweets with the command to go back to your own country even though their country is America. The "own country" come from their skin colour - hence racism.

What you quoted from my post was a possible reason why Trump made the racist tweets: the underlying reason need not be racist.

Of course not all Americans would end up agreeing about this ever. I was only presenting the hypothetical in order to maybe try and reveal what the lefts' real agenda is here.

If one person wants to believe his remarks were racist, and another person doesn't, why is it important that the latter needs to change their mind and agree with the former instead? Thus, what is the left's real agenda here?

In order for Trump to be truly racist, this seems to require, that whatever ethnicity he thinks those 4 congress women are a part of, he has to think the same about all other people currently in this country, who are of the same ethnicity he thinks these are, that he thinks they also need to go back to where they came from. Where is there any proof of something like that, that Trump wants everyone of the same ethnicity he feels these 4 congress women are a part of, to also go back to where they came from? Until someone presents that kind of proof, using the race card here, in regards to Trump lashing out at these 4 congress women, is debunked as far as I'm concerned.
So the mistake these women made was to get elected to Congress - and the people who elected them also made a mistake. So you believe in democracy except when you don't like the result.

That's the claim, and yet no one can seem to find a single example of Donald telling a white American to go back to where they came from.
Undoubtedly, he has said much worse than that to all kinds of people. They simply weren't on camera. He says a lot of stuff he should not say. But here, he was addressing the types of anti-American things they were saying, not the color of their skin.

Omar tweeted stuff like: “Israel has hypnotized the world, may Allah awaken the people and help them see the evil doings of Israel.” She has said a lot of anti-Semitic stuff.

Tlaib said she felt “a calming feeling … when I think of the Holocaust.”

AOC is a flat-out Holocaust denier, in her false equivalency between detention of immigrants not coming in through normal channels, and the Holocaust, where no one was coming in voluntarily.

Yes, it was very clever. The old school Far Left Dems and the new school Super Far Left Dems were having a nasty little war between themselves to see who would be the face of the Democratic Party. Most people in Trump's position would just say "wonderful". Do nothing and enjoy watching them tear each other apart.

But Trump wants the Super Far Left crazies to be the face of the Dem Party for 2020, so he makes a comment which assures that every Dem has to rally behind the odd squad. It's completely irrelevant whether the comments are or aren't racist. They were intended to make everyone FREAK OUT! about RACISM! and get in line behind those four radical ladies, and it worked. It also keeps them in the headlines, which is great for Trump, and he's no doubt aware of recent polling showing that the more Americans hear from these ladies, the less they like them. And that's why Trump's been tweeting about the incident every day since his original tweet. If it were possible, I'm sure he'd like to tweet about this every half hour for the next year.

Plus, although it couldn't have been anticipated, Trump got the extra bonus of the Democrats nearly descending into anarchy of the floor of the House. And these people want to govern us?

In the past when I've heard Trump supporters say he plays "4D chess" I've always been dubious about it, but this time, yeah, it was clever.

Would you call the "send her back" chanters "crazies". Those Trump rallies are getting more and more like Nuremberg - they just need a Leni Riefenstahl to add the finishing touches.

Let's change what you said to this instead---and let's pretend this is what an opponent is asking you---So the mistake TRUMP made was to get elected to THE OFFICE OF THE PRESIDENCY - and the people who elected HIM also made a mistake. No, I think his supporters are very pro-American. Probably don't care much one way or another about German nationalism.

Telling people to go back to their country is racist, bigoted, and xenophobic. It's always been that way.

People that criticize their government and wish to change things they find wrong should not "go back" anywhere, they have a right, just as much as you do to criticize and demand more/better of their country.

What's worse is the bigoted statement directed at four women of color has now morphed into attacking one woman as if the other woman were not part of the original attack.

I haven't ordered Trump to leave the office and the country but I certainly would advise people not to vote for him in 2020 if he chooses to stand. I'm disappointed (but not surprised) you don't understand the difference.

Because the only way people can know someone is racist is by mentioning their skin color? You don't have to mention skin color to demonstrate racist attitudes or beliefs. Stop defending racist statements, it should be beneath you.

Omar tweeted stuff like: “Israel has hypnotized the world, may Allah awaken the people and help them see the evil doings of Israel.” She has said a lot of anti-Semitic stuff.
Funny that people can see anti-Semitism in this statement, yet can't see racism in calling Mexicans rapists or saying a judge can't do his job because he's Hispanic.

Tlaib said she felt “a calming feeling … when I think of the Holocaust.”
Those ellipses you deleted distort what Tlaib said and turn it into a vicious lie. She was discussing the taking of Palestinian land, "...all of it was in the name of trying to create a safe haven for Jews, post the Holocaust, post the tragedy and the horrific persecution of Jews across the world at that time. And I love the fact that it was my ancestors that provided that – right? – in many ways."

Opposing statements like Omar makes should happen. It is not automatically racist just by virtue of the fact that she isn't a white, natural born American. You can still refute nonsense, no matter who is spouting it. And Tlaib's statement was false Palestinians did not provide safe haven - and the grand mufti (if I have that title correct) during Hitler's reign was a Hitler ally. She's a revisionist.

" In 1932, the British allowed 9,500 Jews to immigrate to Palestine. In 1933, the number shot up to 30,000, and in 1935, it peaked at 62,000.

But from 1933 onward, Palestine’s Arabs—led by the cleric Muhammad Haj Amin al-Husseini, the grand mufti of Jerusalem—mounted a strident campaign to pressure the British, who governed Palestine, to bar all Jews from entering the country. To press home their demand, in 1936 they launched an anti-British and anti-Zionist rebellion that lasted three years. Apart from throwing out the British, the rebellion’s aim was to coerce London into halting all Jewish entry into Palestine."

...British entry certificates for Jews to Palestine declined to 30,000 in 1936, 10,000 in 1937, and 15,000 in 1938. Those who couldn’t get in were left stranded in Germany, Poland, Hungary, and elsewhere. Almost all died in the Holocaust, which the Germans unleashed in 1941.
