Prayers by Non-Christians

i have a number of friends who are not Christians. Among them are several Jewish friends, a number of Muslims, several Wiccans and a couple Hindus.

During a recent illness I had friends who contacted me via Facebook to say that they were praying for my recovery. These included prayers from my Jewish, Muslim, Wiccan and Hindu friends.

I believe God hears prayers for healing from my non-Christian friends as much as He hears prayers from my Christian friends. However I’ve had Christians tell me that I should not ask for prayers from non-Christians. Thoughts?

Thoughts? Does the Bible contain scripture where non-believes are praying and receive answers?

I wouldn't ask for it, but I believe it would come off as rude if you ask them not to.
As for God answering prayers I'd say its a lot more likely for the first two groups mentioned then the latter two. Wiccans pray to a goddess and hindus pray to pretty much everything. At least with Muslims and Jews they pray to the Abrahamic God

Why do you believe this?

God's word says,

"For to this end we both labor and suffer reproach, because we trust in the living God, who is the Savior of all men, especially of those who believe." (1 Timothy 4:10)

From this, I see how, yes, God blesses all people . . . somehow. But this does good "especially" for "those who believe." This is because a person can not please God, if the person does not honor and obey Jesus. Our Apostle Paul says we "first trusted in Christ," in Ephesians 1:12.

So, yes God has all His good ready for any person, but if ones refuse to trust and obey how He would bless them, how can they pray as well as we can while our prayer is in submission to God and how He makes us able to pray?????

Jesus says, "without Me you can do nothing," in John 15:5.

Perhaps I would not ask for prayers from non-Christians, but I would gratefully acknowledge the kindness that those of other faiths show in praying for me (even if I had strong differences in beliefs).

When I posted my condition on Facebook, I simply asked for prayers of healing. I did not specify that those prayers should only be offered by Christians, nor would I do that. And yes, I do appreciate all the prayers I receive whether they are Christian or non-Christian.

I see nothing wrong with that, for what my opinion is worth.

What is the primary healing which we need to seek?

James 5:16

So, if ones are praying for a medical healing, but they are not praying for you to get "healed" of what makes you able to live selfishly . . . that prayer is limited.

And in case ones praying for you are mainly about themselves, and just hoping you can become healthy so you can do your own thing . . . how do you think God likes that? I say this, because according to God's word, unbelievers are not about Jesus. So, then, their prayer can indeed be not about you becoming healthy so you can do what Jesus wants.

Another thing > Jesus says,

"if you love those who love you, what reward have you?" (in Matthew 5:46)

Yes, there are those who only or mainly love ones they prefer to love; so their prayer for favorites is not the prayer God wants. Jesus wants all-loving prayer, and . . . also . . . not prayer only or mainly for medical convenience so we can do what we please and mainly love those who love us.

Therefore, while we rightly seek God for medical healing, deeper we need to seek His kingdom first, by praying for correction which heals us of what in our nature makes us able to sin and suffer, and pray for healing to become more and more together with God in His love, instead. And, of course, this changes us to become more and more naturally all-loving.

And, of course, we already have Jesus praying for us > Romans 8:34 > according to His faith. So, I think it is wise not to seek what the world's people can do, when we have Jesus praying for us and He has people in obedient prayer.

Worldly people can not pray in obedience to God > "without Me you can do nothing" (in John 15:5). And obedience is very included in getting people blessed >

"'In your seed all the nations of the earth shall be blessed, because you have obeyed My voice.'" (Genesis 22:18)

Prayer in obedience is included in getting even "all the nations of the earth" "blessed", because obedience is in all-caring love and not only for ourselves and certain favorite people.

What God accepts is what He accepts. I don't really see the problem, then, though like others I wouldn't go out of my way to ask for prayers from all kinds of people specifically. It's enough to put it out there generally "Please pray for me, friends", rather than "Please pray for me, Hindus; please pray for me, Jews; please pray for me, Wiccans", etc. That'd be weird. God knows who your friends are, and much more importantly who asks of Him and who asks of someone or something else.

God does hear everyone's prayer just as He know's every hair on ones head however, a prayer to
a false god or idol has no power through the light of God. There is power in the Holy Spirit that is pure and Holy. Unholy spirits like Krishna,Mohamed's Allah, Old Covenant Jews and the horned god of Wicca, have no power in light but in darkness.

I hear some posters here saying that if a missionary pilot crashes on an island and the non-Christian residents pray for his recovery, God will not not hear those prayers. Why do I have a problem with that?

I'm sure they are not the only ones praying for him:
"For those who travel by land, sea, and air, for the sick, the suffering, the captives and for their salvation, let us pray to the Lord."

So God ignores their prayers for a specific individuals, but listens to general Christian prayers for all travelers?

The post to which I was responding compared General Christian prayers for travelers to specific non-Christian prayers for the healing of a individual, in the example the individual was a Christian. Again, the Pharisee was not praying for anyone’s healing.

They can pray to anything or anyone they like it does them no good, there is only one God.

So don't ask them to pray for you - you don't want Satan taking interest in your life... but it's rude to ask people of other faiths not to pray when they offer..

So when people offer to pray for you or say they are praying for you just thank them politely for their concern and move to a different topic...
