Why are many conservatives still afraid to speak up for being called bad names?

It has me worried about the future of the US and western society if even a lot of those on the right or lean conservative have been pacified and bullied into not speaking up out of fear of being called bad names by the opposition.

I even question if conservatives or just non-leftists even want to save their own culture.

Its not just a matter of withstanding a torrent of bad names, you know. These people and their families stand to receive death threats, have their property vandalized, reputations smeared, jobs imperiled, a host of dirty tricks played on them, and even be prevented from going out to dinner without some fanatic shouting insults in their faces.

I am sure that most people would think twice about crossing the extremists, knowing that this response awaits them. We cannot really blame them for being cautious.

This is particularly curious given that most of these same people have no problem in bullying or using bad names when speaking of moderates or leftists.

Honestly I think more extremism would serve it well. It may be nice if we could win the opposition over changing them with spreading "love" but that's not going to be a real solution. There needs to be fire with fire.

I consider myself a conservative and I speak up all the time with little consequence unless it is hurtful to the opposition which I am guilty of and working on!

The story of the past four years has been the waning influence of political correctness. We've seen a pretty big change and it'll take time for the full effects of it to set in. But I'd much rather be playing the right's cards right now than the left's.

It may all come to a head during the next presidential election... I dread it.

I use to just live my life. The lord will raise up the ones who answer the door when he knocks. The general decay of society and social orders. Is a biblical prophecy.
Most of the Christian's I know are over 50. Most of my energy goes into saving the ones in my local sphere of influence.
The secular world can play by their own rules. Which I can not play by. Thus they will always win unless the spirit of GOD is moving.
Were in a post truth age, were everyone does what is right in their own eyes. Truth speaking can get a Christian arrested for hate speach.
Soon 5G technology will be fully implemented. Soon everything we know about society and social order will be radically changed. The smart phone babies are growing up.

It's like asymmetrical warfare - they'll stoop to anything, whereas conservatives want to conserve things like civility, decency, honor, fairness, etc. But if you fight like a gentleman you're going to lose to people who fight dirty. It's a terrible conundrum. I don't know what the answer is. I don't want to lose, but I don't want to be a scumbag either. I guess when civilization is at stake though, you'd better win by any means necessary.

Okay, so then God understood it was sin and wasn't desirable to him, but it's been predestined to happen at this specific point in life anyway.
At least God could have allowed me to be born before all this so today I would be over 55 and already have lived a full life here without it being disrupted, but no.
Then also what's the point of campaigning to change things like abortion legislation?
I don't really feel that excited about the traditional Christian vision of heaven, I don't want it to come off as disrespectful but that's what I think.

Not playing by your own rules is the reason sick things like abortion or whatnot is happening in the first place and nasty things are happening to conservatives.
I guess it's technically not evil with God if it's been prophesied in the Bible.
I want the persecuted people to even themselves with the sick and evil.

I just want to talk about the frustration without sounding like I'm attacking others.

Actually the warfare is very symmetrical. I see noble intentions (civility, decency, honor, fairness, etc.) on both sides but I see viciousness on both sides as well. Politics is reverting to tribal warfare and we need to end it.

I don't really care much about being a "scumbag" (toward them) in the situation today.

Being, as I am on the left, both politically and religiously, I am very accustomed to the foul language and threats from the right. This is very symmetrical. I refuse to take part in it but I do understand it for what it is.

I know that many people are offended when some other people try to say "everyone's doing it" or "both sides do it" when, in truth, it is one side that started it and has made it a specialty.

And it is high time that the right recognized their guilt in this. That is all I have to say on this subject.

I understand but to be fair I'm not that much either "conservative" or "liberal" so much that I am bothered by most of the left's agenda and desires for the world overall and it just happens to be more so than the same on the right.

You are right that only one side threw the first stone, but besides that point people saying that doesn't really offend me nor I disagree with it.

Well, it isn't just the first stone, VCR. If that was all that this amounted to, we could well put it behind us. But one side has vowed to do whatever it can to overthrow the 2016 election and, to that end, the attacks have been widespread and more or less continuous. People who value civility and democracy have good reason to be alarmed at this development which, if it succeeds--or possibly, even if it does not--will produce something of a counter movement, even though conservatives and moderates by nature are more uncomfortable doing these things.

For example, when I was younger, there was the impeachment of President Nixon. It got Republican votes as well as the Democrat votes in the House of Representatives because there was actual wrongdoing there. But an impeachment was sensational because although we know that there is that provision in the Constitution, it had been seen as almost a technicality, not something any of us expected to see in our lifetimes.

But when the Republicans had the opportunity to return the favor during the Clinton era, they did. Once again actual crime was involved, though. And now the Democrats are saying that they can impeach for any reason they want! And they have been talking about almost nothing else for over two years.

What do you suppose will happen down the road? That's right, as soon as the House and the Presidency are held by opposite parties again, impeachment will be a hot topic. Along with that goes all the invective and posturing that the pro-impeachment side can throw into the mix. And let no one say that what we have, as a nation, experienced in that regard for the past two years is just politics as usual!
