Trump invokes executive privilege over Mueller report

(CNN)President Donald Trump invoked blanket executive privilege over Robert Mueller's full report Wednesday in retribution for a pending vote by House Democrats to hold Attorney General William Barr in contempt of Congress.

Trump invokes executive privilege over Mueller report - CNNPolitics

So the President has decided to lock away a report that he claims completely exonerates him. To me this is a clear indication that the report will at the very least be highly embarrassing to him. This is obstruction of justice.

This president, if allowed to continue, will severely compromise the US form of government as established by the Constitution and may even threaten the integrity of the entire nation.

This president? Come on. Executive privilege abuse has been going on my entire life, and then some. Yes, it's much easier to notice when your political opponent does it, but let's be honest with ourselves.

Well it's nice we can at least all agree that this is Executive privilege abuse.
tulc(also isn't sure why something that "completely exonerates the President" needs to be hidden by the President)

It's not even your government, your Constitution or your nation.

That is true but what happens in the USA inevitably slops over into Canada. The late Prime Minister Pierre Trudeau said it well "Canada sharing a continent with the USA is a little like a mouse going to bed with an elephant. No matter how well intentioned the elephant, every twitch and fart profoundly affects the mouse."

Isn't there a hockey game you could be watching?

Isn't there a small Caribbean island you could be invading?

What has "slopped over"? And what did Trudeau mean by that?

No one can truthfully show that previous administrations have not done all the same things and A LOT OF IT over and over and over and over again.

A veteran from the vtnam war mentioned to me last year that

a lot of 17, 18, 19 year olds were sent (largely or partly) because THEY DID NOT KNOW WHAT
THEY WERE GETTING INTO ! (the older guys knew, and knew it was wrong to go).

Likewise most all the wars - unjust, ungodly, with a lot of lies to get people to support them .... the worst being the cost and the loss of lives all the time, including

the horrible cost of the greatly increased drug trade each war, and the young people's lives
messed up by the drugs as well as the false presumption of justified killing/ violence each war !

Why is President Trump blocking the release of the report that he claims fully exonerates him?

Who cares !? Let's stay with "need to know" instead of presuming everyone has a right to know --- whatever the reason(s), so what ?! NO ONE ELSE in politics is any better! Neither is any party doing what's right ......

What has "slopped over"?

Lots has slopped over. Just one example for you. Trump was unhappy with the NAFTA free trade agreement so he forced a complete renegotiation on Mexico and Canada. After many months of negotiations a new agreement was signed many months ago. As an incentive to Canada and Mexico to grant concessions to the US Trump imposed tariffs on imports of steel and aluminum on the excuse of national security. These tariffs have not been lifted even though they seem to be hurting the US economy even more than Mexico and Canada. Ironically after all of that the US has not yet ratified the new treaty. For that matter neither has Canada or Mexico and that is not likely to happen as long as the tariffs continue.

To sum up, Trump has caused huge disruptions to the economies of Canada and Mexico and even worse damage to the US economy and has accomplished exactly --------------- nothing.

You should notice that the last word in NAFTA is "Agreement". If you don't like it, blame your own guy. (But don't do it to his face, you'll probably make him cry again.)

I just find it odd that after the president said this report showed “complete and total exoneration,” and when asked if the American public have a right to see it, he said "Let them see it," he now doesn't even want congress to see it in its entirety.

Mr. President, does the American public have a right to see the Mueller report?

THE PRESIDENT: I don’t mind. I mean, frankly, I told the House, “If you want, let them see it.

When the report was going to be released, he said he wouldn't use executive privilege to prevent it from being released.

As he previewed the Mueller report on Thursday morning, Attorney General William Barr confirmed that Trump declined to assert executive privilege after White House lawyers reviewed the redacted version of the report.

“Following that review, the President confirmed that, in the interests of transparency and full disclosure to the American people, he would not assert privilege over the Special Counsel’s report,” he said.

So why the change of heart? Why would he do that?

At this point the whole thing reminds me of that old guy on the insurance commercial dangling the dollar over the girl's head. "Oops. You almost got it."

Trump always claims to be the best at everything and while that turns out not to be true in just about every single case, when it comes to loosing money, he really is the best. He had the most losses for the years 1985 to 1994 than any other taxpayer in the United States. I wonder if he will tweet about that claim to fame anytime soon?

To put the amount he lost in perspective:

$1,000,000,000 loss over ten years =

$100,000,000 loss per year =

$8,333,333 loss per month =

$1,923,077 per week =

$273,972 per day =

$11,415 per hour =

Trump loosing $190.25 every minute of every day for ten years!

I know that I am, maybe POTUS is sick and tired of the Dems incessantly harassing and trying to bully him instead of trying to cooperate for the good of the country, A 2 year long multi-million dollar phony witch hunt wasn't good enough for them now they are still trying to impeach him. They are screaming impeach him, impeach him but have yet to provide clear and convincing evidence that there is a credible cause to impeach. Just because they hate him is not grounds for impeachment. This is still a country of laws.
