The doctrine of losing salvation stems from unbelief in the gospel

The doctrine of OSAS stems from unbelief in the gospel. See, we can all play that game. Let's move beyond that to more meaningful discussion, shall we.

You mean by you and others trying to convince others that their salvation is predicated on their works rather than in Christ and His merits by grace alone?

Salvation comes by grace alone, and I never said otherwise. Now, instead of just attacking people, perhaps you can share with us your view of why OSAS is biblically correct.

I attacked the false doctrine. If you happened to hold to it then I see why you have a problem with it. Paul condemned the Judaizers for doing the same thing. Preaching a false gospel by nullifying the cross altogether. Galatians 2:16-21

I've preached no false gospel and I reject your accusation to the contrary. Now, do you have anything of actual value to contribute to the thread?

Then quit your belly aching. I replied to another poster not you. If you hold to the gospel of grace then you shouldn’t have a problem with what I said. Teaching others that their works of righteousness in any way are the grounds for justification is a false gospel which nullifies the cross and makes void the grace of God

You seem to be off-topic. We're discussing OSAS here. That said, because of your false accusations and insults, I'm choosing to put you on "ignore."

Jeremiah correctly predicted that the New Covenant to come would involve the fear of Him indwelling believers to prevent them falling away.

It is not for us to judge who the saved are, but those who are saved are sealed by the Fear of Him.

In this New Covenant, knowing that man can not attain to the Holiness of God, He prevents them from sinning to the point of loosing salvation by His indwelling fear.

This truth brings great peace and assurance to the saved.

We can, however, loose out on the blessings of the kingdom by straying from Him.
This results in missing out on Kingdom blessings in this life and eternal rewards in the next.

I quote again this passage to read...
Jer 32:40
“I will make an everlasting covenant with them that I will not turn away from them, to do them good; and I will put the fear of Me in their hearts so that they will not turn away from Me..."

and
Jer 31:31 following
“Behold, days are coming,” declares the LORD, “when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah, not like the covenant which I made with their fathers in the day I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt, My covenant which they broke, although I was a husband to them,” declares the LORD.

“But this is the covenant which I will make with the house of Israel after those days,” declares the LORD, “I will put My law within them and on their heart I will write it; and I will be their God, and they shall be My people.

“They will not teach again, each man his neighbor and each man his brother, saying, ‘Know the LORD,’ for they will all know Me, from the least of them to the greatest of them,” declares the LORD, “for I will forgive their iniquity, and their sin I will remember no more.”

and
Isaiah 11...
Then a shoot will spring from the stem of Jesse,
And a branch from his roots will bear fruit.
The Spirit of the LORD will rest on Him,
The spirit of wisdom and understanding,
The spirit of counsel and strength,
The spirit of knowledge and the fear of the LORD.

And He will delight in the fear of the LORD,
And He will not judge by what His eyes see,
Nor make a decision by what His ears hear;
But with righteousness He will judge the poor,
And decide with fairness for the afflicted of the earth"

It is important to note in Isaiah 11, seven spirits are associated with the anointing of Jesus which believers receive when they are born again.

This also links to the Seven Spirits of God mentioned four times in the book of Revelation.

Folks worried about if their salvation is secure need to prayerfully consider these promises.

Blessings,

Carl Emerson.

Our righteousness is as filthy rags.

Our best is light years away from His Holiness.

Each instant we are short of His standard.

In this we are lost.

Forget about the commandments, the rich ruler had kept them all and was not accepted by Jesus.

If salvation depended on repenting of every sin we would need an eternity to cover them all...

Only a miracle of Grace can save us.

Yes.. a miracle of Grace Has saved us.

Only Jesus blood could do this...

Every sin past present and future in the believers life is covered by His blood.

The cross is a timeless event - it is occurring now for you and me.

Without this miracle of Grace we are lost.

But in Him we are saved.

I love you Jesus

It is finished.

Perhaps that you need to shorten it a bit. Discuss one scripture at a time.

OK just one scripture for starters...

Jer 32:40
“I will make an everlasting covenant with them that I will not turn away from them, to do them good; and I will put the fear of Me in their hearts so that they will not turn away from Me..."

I have been a Christian for over 20 years and know that I am saved by the grace of God. I have no fear of losing my salvation. I have had episodes during my Christian life, where I have drifted, neglected my prayer life, have done things wrong which are not pleasing to God, but He has always and always will be there for me. To that extent, my salvation is secure and nothing can pluck me out of His hand.

If, however, I chose to completely walk away from the faith, turn my back on God, and spend the rest of my life living in intentional and unrepentant sin, would I still have my salvation? According to my understanding of scripture, I believe this would not be the case.

Having had a genuine faith, having been involved in various types of ministry, having loved and served the Lord for many years, It would be absurd to assume that I was never a Christian to start with and had never been 'saved'. I would say that this would be very unsettling for Christians who have very close walk with God, as they would be living in constant fear that one day they may fall into sin and come to the belief that they were never properly saved.

Opponents of OSAS certainly believe in salvation by grace and not by works. But they believe that a person who has chosen to follow Christ must continue walking with Him. The promises we make at baptism should never be taken lightly.

The possibility that someone who has once professed faith can fall into deadly sin is a view that goes right back to the early church and has been part of the teaching of the established church for around 2000 years. It is a view which, I believe, is also supported by scripture. Therefore I do not believe it is heresy.
