My wife and I attended Mass while out of town.

Maundy Thursday

By now it’s safe to say I am no longer a Baptist…no longer Reformed. What am I? I am a Christian who is searching, seeking and finding Christ where He may be found and that is in the liturgy of the word, in Holy Communion, where Christ literally is.
Wow.

I guess this has been coming for a long, long time. Don't get overly excited, there is still a lot to sort out, but God is good. I'm still very much a Protestant but for how much longer I don't know. The fellas I hang out with have been moving toward more traditional churches over the last few years. One is attending an Anglican parish (as I did last year, briefly), another became Catholic, one desires to be Orthodox...and yet, another friend finds himself where I am, no longer a zealous or convinced Reformed Christian, but not Catholic or Orthodox either.

Pray for me.

All due respect to everybody here but is there a reason why the substance of the OP's ideas not being discussed? Perhaps asking why he has changed his opinion on some things?

I would bet a dollar that JM's conversion is a hoax. A brilliant reformed mind like his doesn't change after one trip to a Catholic mass. I'm waiting for the reveal that's coming. I've admired and learned so much from JM all these many years following him here it's just not possible.

Yes there is a reason. The Bible. JM knows what is biblical. He wouldn’t abandon the Word to embrace false religion.

The OP started a thread in OBOB. It's not my place to speculate on his individual journey. But I think he's made it clear that he's not converting. At least not right now.

So what's the harm in talking to him about it? The OP started a thread in this section and I assume he did so because he wants to involve those who identify as reformed Christians into his thoughts on this.

He started a similar thread and in OBOB and, without getting specific, the discussion has been more or less what you would expect of Catholics.

As a few might already know, I'm into Christian Hip Hop, so the other day I watched this round table talk with Tedashii, Lecrae, Sam Collier, DJ Wade-O, Shanti Das and Benjamin Wills. For whatever it's worth or not worth, nothing in the video is about Calvinism etc., it's about life and Christian psychology/counseling/therapy more than anything, but it also contains a few surprises. I already knew Tedashi lost a son a few years ago, and I cannot imagine what he went through, but this talk gives a small glimpse.

Since it's a long video and people might just skip, here Tedashi was, this well known Christian Hip Hop artist with a couple of albums under his belt and a decent gathering of for lack of another word, fans, people who kind of looked up to him, respected him for what he was doing...when this terrible tragedy of loosing his son happened. He thought about ending it all, he almost did, except for his older son. He could not cope, he wanted to go away and live like a hermit on some island. Why, why did this have to happen to him? How could a sovereign loving God do this, or allow this? So here he was expected to perform and put out new material for his fans....while he couldn't deal, his struggle was such, that he hated God, though it would probably come and go, at the very least he went through bouts and times where in his own words he "hated God". Only a couple or so years ago did this situation begin to change, when he finally opened up to Lecrae and started talking about it, after he started reaching out for help, things have improved especially his relationship with God. So yeah, I recommend watching the video, regardless of who you are, we all need help sometimes.

Every effective lie has an element of truth. An effective bear will contain elements of a fish. If we delve into the mouth of the devourer and find pieces of truth, it is because the truth fuels that monster, which in turn seeks to destroy that truth. The deceiver uses truth to destroy that very truth, in the same way that Satan used the word of God to try to destroy God's word made flesh when he tempted Christ.

If you were to set a trap to catch a Christian, what would you bait it with?

I would come at the Christian as a beautiful Angel of light, I would be so subtle, so crafty, most would never suspect. I would shine so brilliantly they would be blinded to the truth, captured like deer in headlights, only after it is too late, most to be brought down with me like lambs to the slaughter. I would slowly and progressively ever so slightly twist and turn even changing tradition and laws. I would become the most powerful religious force on earth, with myself set up as her early King. She would be entranced by all the works of my hands throughout the ages, ever my faithful servant to do my bidding. Only a relatively small remnant of these will remain, but even out of these shall I use to draw more unto me. - Screwtape

This is a trend I have been seeing for a while now, and I know a good friend and standing member of our church that has stopped taking communion altogether after confessing to me that he in a very much similar boat that you seem to be on. He is honestly looking for truth and thinks that he needs to separate himself from the Reformed community to collect his thoughts, and I feel that he is considering strongly going "traditional" in the "ancient paths" of either Orthodoxy or Catholicism as he has told me in great detail (I mean great detail to almost attempting to convince me). He seemed deeply fascinated after Hank Hanegraaff's conversion.

I am seeing this happening on a gradual scale that it is becoming a little fearful. Please don't cut yourself off as my friend did, continue in prayer and study.

By the way, I saw your post about this very subject on the PB. Where two or three are there, Christ is in the midst, listen to wise discretion it may be for your own good! I will be praying.

How can someone go from full throttle Reformed for 15 years to I don't know anymore? Something strange is happening. I am praying for JM.

We are witnessing levels IMO within the Church:

First wave, same sex marriage. A separation of conservative from liberal "Christians." Second wave, social justice. This is becoming a dividing issue within real conservative churches (including Reformed). What is the third and fourth wave? They are coming like a tidal wave to sweep us off our feet until there are only few left who will hold on strong to certain values and truths.
