About 8 months ago, I picked up a CZ455 Canadian Edition in .17 HMR; it shot so well that I felt I might be able to improve my open sight competition suiting with a better rifle; so I bought a lightly used CZ455 Military trainer (25 1/2" barrel and tangent sight); I was right, I have been in the money on all of our competitive shoots since I bought it. That got me thinking that a good rifle might help my scope class shooting as well so I started looking for another CZ; out of the blue, my Pastor says, I am looking for a good .22 rifle. To make a long story short, I found a couple of 452 CZ Lux rifles; great condition, great price; one in birch, the other in walnut; 24" with tangent sights. My pastor was overjoyed! The birch one was a little less money, and I gave him the choice; he is getting the birch one; I'm getting the walnut one!

I'll post pictures when they arrive!

Interesting, greetings from the Czech republic ;-)

If you are interested in automatic rifles, too, CZ BREN is something what is making its name, recently:

Excellent quality rifles!

The name "Bren" has a long and respected history with Canada and England's military. The original "Bren Gun" was a light machine gun (if you can call .303 light LOL) and was built as a joint effort between the arms factory in Brno and the British manufacturer Enfield hence Bren. Below is the Mk II and a "Bren Gun Carrier":

Me; I'm very partial to the CZ pattern Pistols; the CZ75 and 85.

Why are they not restricted?
While I don't know specifically, as there are exceptions; I will try...

Firearm is a stand alone design; not derived from or easily converted into a full automatic. (this is why the AR15 is restricted; it is based on a design that could fire full auto. OA length would be above minimum. Why the AK47 is prohibited and the AR is not is beyond me.

The AR10 and AR180 are non restricted as well.

Most .32 and .22 short pistols are prohibited. Any pistol with a barrel length shorter than 4 1/8" is prohibited.

Sawed off mares-leg rifles and shotguns are non prohibited (if they are built that way at the factory) really short sawed off shotguns from the factory are restricted.

Not restricted in Canada:

There is one distinct driving factor behind the restrictions of specific firearms and that is media driven socialistic paranoia. The socialists mind cannot fathom free thinkers as we are not conformists. If we do not conform we are a threat because we cannot be molded, therefore we must be eliminated.

Yes, and fear mongering on the part of certain political orientations to rally voters behind a made up cause to ensure re-election and a fat pension after 5 years that is about 4 x more than I make in a year.

I had aCZ 527 in 223. It was the most accurate gun I have ever owned. Put a1000 rounds through and sold for a loss, a little loss. People are actually ready to give money for one of those. It had the gray and black laminated stock and two mags! @MarkRohfrietsch are you from San Lorenzo, ca? With a brother, Daryl?

No, sir, from Stratford, Ontario Canada. My ancestors were Confessional Lutherans that escaped Calvinist oppression in Alsace and came here, via New York and Pa, homesteading here (six miles west of here actually) starting in 1828; and were founding members of 1st. St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church Ellice TWP. My great-great-grand Parents are buried in that cemetery as are most of my ancestors. My wife and I have graves reserved there as well.

At the time of our immigration, the spelling of my last name was altered to contain an "e"; the correct spelling is Rohfritsch.

While I don't know of Daryl in CA; if he has the same last name spelled either with or without the "e" we are likely related. I still have relatives in Alsace; however, they now all speak French rather than German, and are all Roman Catholic. So far, I have found no "Calvinist" relatives. It would seem that those left behind chose the lesser of two evils; Catholicism.

Anyway, back on topic LOL:

Even older rifles, the Brnos are in high demand here in Canada as well. There were a lot imported in .222 (a lot of Tikas as well); and it is still a very popular caliber. The .222 displaced the .22 mag from being the most popular fox rifle. .220 Swift, .22 hornet were never very popular in my area. .22 Jet, .22-250, .22-06 were not all that common either. .22-250 is now!
