  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

First it was Christian Forums now it is Facebook. Facebook has been down for most of the day worldwide. Facebook has denied it is a ddos attack (denial of service)

It seems odd to believe in facebooks case that nothing nefarious has happened. It seems kind of odd that all locations went down simultaneously .

Anyone know anything concrete?

Website facebook.com Uptime,Downtime Checker Monitoring Service - Is facebook.com Down Right Now? Or Down Just Me?

I used this site for CF when it went down. It was down initially, but then up but not accessible for about a day. Right now FB is up. but might be in maintenance mode if a bunch of people cannot access it.

Still down on the east coast. I am in Boston and Facebook has been down since early today.

I was kind of wondering about this. I was worried that I got banned or something since a couple days ago somebody reported something I posted. Good to know it's not that. Seems odd, though.

Nothing concrete. Not that one would expect a concise explanation after the fact. Most organizations would be mum about that, just like their first response to a data breach is to go silent. It's not corporate culture to talk about it more than they absolutely have to.

True. I work in IT and when we had a breach it was all hands on deck to manage any public knowledge.

Very true. I worked somewhere that had a rather infamous and embarrassing outage that affected hundreds of customers. The company was so protective of their information that when HR discovered that certain employees had posted on social media some stuff that the company considered privileged information (though it was kind of obvious to anybody in IT) that the employees were escorted out of the building when they reported in the next day.

Reread the above. There's a reason I'm being vague about it.
