1 Cor 11:14-15a (NRSV) Does not nature itself teach you that if a man wears long hair, it is degrading to him, but if a woman has long hair, it is her glory?
Yeah but who says a man having long hair is degrading? Nature? I don't think that verse is literally saying a man having long hair is degrading but that nature itself claims it to be. You know how the world can be cliche about stuff. And some people mostly follow what others say and follow. Just like everybody knows in the world it's the norm for a woman to have long hair..I think plenty of women like long hair or would love to have long hair because it's the norm..and the truth and nature of things in life..I think a man having long hair is degrading because everyone else thinks it is degrading and doesn't seem like the norm cause long hair is usually made and seen on a woman cause she is a woman...

Hey. I am sorry but I have to get this off my chest right now. I can't help but look at those pictures of Jesus on the internet. That is some really bad photos. They have no life in them and I know Jesus has more heart then that. I am starting to think maybe some people don't really know Jesus at all and only worship in vain or only love him the way he is represented in this world. Especially and in those pictures. I dont think many people have come to know Jesus for who he really is. I am sorry but I do not like those photos cause they misrepresent him and when I look at them there's no life in them at all. Wouldn't it have been better just to not make photos of him at all and just go by his teachings? What is the purpose of them pictures though? If nobody know what Jesus really look like, why not just leave at that and not misrepresent him by portraying him in such things as such. Especially those pictures. I know a lot of people say they love Jesus and they are close to him and they probably are but I really do wonder why people sometimes do. why some people worship and love Jesus the way they do? Because we have a person here with a heart (a beautiful one too hehe) and feelings like us. A person being misunderstood and misrepresented in the world causing some to overlook who Jesus really is or could be and that there's probably more to it then one could imagine about him. Causing him to still be mocked ridiculed and despised in the world because some people just don't get it...
Without providing the pictures that you object to it is impossible for anyone to make a judgment on the subject. Do you have a link to these pictures?

You mean a picture of him from supposed chritians? Or you mean worldly pictures of him? Because being a geek online I've seen FAR to amny horrible pictures of him. Like when people at websites posting pictures of him in "sexual" stuff. its sick. But to them He's no more real then buddah or frosty the snowman.

And I didn't mean no one could love Jesus..I did not mean it that way..I am sure lots of people do get it and do love him but when I read and hear some of the stuff people say about him it seems like the reason Is because how he is portrayed in those movies and photos..The Jesus hollywood made up..

While I do not have a problem with films that depict Christ (because the movie is merely a tool to lead people to Christ), I do have a problem in Christians promoting pictures of Him, though.

I was always hoping for a Hollywood movie that did not portray what our Savior looked like. Not sure if we will ever get to see such a thing, but it would be amazing if they did it right. But I agree with you in part. No Christian should promote images of Jesus. Jesus is not white or European. Nobody knows what Christ looked like. We worship Jesus in spirit and in truth. One movie that I recently seen called "Heaven's War" had put Christ in shadow (Whereby you could not see what He looked like). I thought this was a very fitting thing to do. If you are interested in checking out the trailer for that film, you can do so in this thread I created here.

I hope not.
I am pretty sure you are not abusing Jesus, he did say the spirit is willing and the flesh is weak and sometimes our flesh really weighs us down but I'm sure you don't do that on purpose or in a way abusive ..besides Jesus forgives and understands it all..nothing will take you out of his hands if you belong to him...so I wouldn't even worry about that....

Well there's nothing wrong with the film's itself because they teach a moral story of God. If anything the truth needs to be known..it needs to be heard..I am ust saying the way Jesus looks ..I believe some people look at that and don't know him with thier heart well etc. They only know him through others and what they say of him..I'm not judging anyone I don't know what is in a person's heart..I just see and hear a lot of stuff which leads me to believe that..I don't care if Jesus looked like a movie star or not....I'm after his soul heart and mind..I don't care much about he looks...I think there's a quote that says the eyes are like a window to a person's soul so if I'm going to favor anything on Jesus it will start with heart soul and mind..and I love seeing people for who i know they are when I look in their eyes...and I know if I ever looked in his eyes I would see what I know...

I pondered the verse and asked a Jew who would be called rabbi by non Christians even back in biblical times Jews only had long hair

1. Under Nazarene vow (while under you can't have anything that comes from vine or touch dead etc)

2. In extreme mourning

Otherwise it was not something men did besides the barbarians and some other gentiles

Lord’s Day 35
Q & A 96
Q. What is God’s will for us
in the second commandment?

A. That we in no way make any image of God
nor worship him in any other way
than has been commanded in God’s Word.

Q & A 97
Q. May we then not make
any image at all?

A. God can not and may not
be visibly portrayed in any way.
Although creatures may be portrayed,
yet God forbids making or having such images
if one’s intention is to worship them
or to serve God through them.

Q & A 98
Q. But may not images be permitted in churches
in place of books for the unlearned?

A. No, we should not try to be wiser than God.
God wants the Christian community instructed
by the living preaching of his Word—
not by idols that cannot even talk.

I believe depictions do make a person cling to that image, instead of Jesus himself. Some argue that it brings them closer to God, but do we really need an image to do that? It sounds like the Israelites having to craft a golden calf to actually physically see something they want to worship. It is idolatry in many ways.
