I really wish we had the blue laws in PA still. Only businesses that were allowed open were hospitals and a few gas stations. As is, I work retail, and I had one Sunday off last year.

Make it "illegal" for them to have people work 5 days a week if one of those days is Sunday?

I am all for having those business that decide they must be open 7 days a week "for max profit" giving employees the choice of having off either on the Bible Sabbath or on Sunday

Now brother AOH did you even read the post you are trying to respond to? If you read the post you were trying to respond to I never said that the HEBREW words for שׁבת; shâbath or REST (H7673) and שׁבּת; shabbâth (H7676) were the same now did I? If I never said the Hebrew words for REST and SABBATH were the same why try and pretend that I did? I posted them as separate words in the same context as KEEPING SABBATH REST EVERY SEVENTH DAY and the word REST in GENESIS 2 also means KEEPING OF THE SABBATH REST. Here is the post again, please read it slowly.

GENESIS 2:1-3 [1], Thus the heavens and the earth were finished, and all the host of them. [2], And ON THE SEVENTH DAY God ended his work which he had made; and he RESTED [שׁבת; shâbath H7673; Keep Sabbath] on the SEVENTH DAY from all his work which he had made. [3], And GOD BLESSED THE SEVENTH DAY AND MADE IT HOLY: because that in it he had RESTED [שׁבת; shâbath H7673; Keep Sabbath] from all his work which God created and made.

The Hebrew word for RESTED used here is שׁבת; shâbath (H7673). It's meaning is; to repose, that is, desist from exertion; used in many implied relations (causatively, figuratively or specifically): - (cause to, let, make to) cease, celebrate, cause (make) to fail, KEEP SABBATH, suffer to be lacking, leave, put away (down), (make to) rest, rid, still, take away.

שׁבת; shâbath or REST (H7673) is the ORIGIN or ROOT word for שׁבּת; shabbâth (H7676) which is used in God's 4th commandments translated into english as SABBATH. The HEBREW Word for shabbâth meaing is the intermission between SABBATHS or shâbath (H7673) REST or the continuation meaing from one SABBATH REST to the Next SABBATH REST continuation or EVERY SABBATH. It's application is in God's 4th commandment EXODUS 20:8 is to REMEMBER [EVERY] Sabbath [shabbâth H7676].

In the 4th commandment *EXODUS 20:8-11; v11 tells us the ORIGINS of God's 4th commandments Sabbath is in reference to GENESIS 2:1-3 and the reason why it is given as a memorial of Greation to whorship God as the creator of Heaven and Earth.

...............

Hebrew and Greek Dictionaries w/TVM, Strong - H7673
REST
from GENESIS 2:1-3
שׁבת
shâbath
shaw-bath'
A primitive root; to REPOSE, that is, desist from exertion; used in many implied relations (causatively, figuratively or specifically): - (cause to, let, make to) cease, CELEBRATE, cause (make) to fail, KEEP SABBATH, suffer to be lacking, leave, put away (down), (make to) REST, rid, still, take away.

Can you see your error here brother?

Hope this helps.
Here's exactly what you said -

שׁבת; shâbath or REST
(H7673) is the ORIGIN or ROOT word for שׁבּת; shabbâth (H7676).

Essentially your claim is they're the same by origin or root.

Yes DL Moody is very explicit.

Indeed he is. Very easy for all who choose to read his statement to see the point.

The material already cited is from The Ten Commandments by DL Moody on the Fundamental Baptist Institute site.

Yes it is - I have made that clear in triplicate in my posts quoting him.

A man ought to turn aside from his ordinary employment one day in seven. There are many whose occupation will not permit them to observe Sunday, but they should observe some other day as a Sabbath. Saturday is my day of rest,

Yes he does say that -- but I still list him in the group of "Sunday sources" because I think he is fine with a "sunday Sabbath" all the same.

Hence my signature line on all my posts --

===========================================
I am glad these Sunday sources all affirm the Ten Commandments for Christians.

The Baptist Confession of Faith,
the Westminster Confession of Faith ,
D.L. Moody,
R.C Sproul,
Matthew Henry,
Thomas Watson
Eastern Orthodox Catechism
The Catholic Catechism.

==============================

So far you are the second person who chooses to post a strong affirmative of the point I am making then pat yourself on the back as if that disproves the point I make. But you can't disprove the point by strongly affirming it.

Not sure how this is escaping you.

I didn't affirm what you post to prove Christians are obligated to the law (specifically the 4th commandment). Instead what I posted from the same source proves without doubt DL Moody isn't supporting the 7th day sabbath with anything he says. You then post he calls Sunday the sabbath and you accept that shooting yourself in the foot. You won't be on my target range with a loaded weapon. You can't be trusted.

I didn't affirm what you post

Well you affirmed the point I made about D.L.Moody being a "sunday source" while he admitted to all the obvious Bible details you reject.

were we simply "not supposed to notice"???

I simply posted his quote. You can't blame me for what Moody writes.

Details matter.
Please be serious.
Ah yes you twisted what he said as usual. I proved it with my quote from your formal debate you didn't want to own up to.

Westminster Confession of Faith - seventh day Sabbath of the Bible --

Chapter XXI: Of Religious Worship, and the Sabbath Day

VII. As it is the law of nature, that, in general, a due proportion of time be set apart for the worship of God; so, in His Word, by a positive, moral, and perpetual commandment binding all men in all ages, He has particularly appointed one day in seven, for a Sabbath, to be kept holy unto him: which, from the beginning of the world to the resurrection of Christ, was the last day of the week: and, from the resurrection of Christ, was changed into the first day of the week, which, in Scripture, is called the Lord's Day, and is to be continued to the end of the world, as the Christian Sabbath.
