• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

I had 3 grand mals more than 20 yrs ago Have been on the same medication since and seizure free. these last few years I ve been having symptoms but still hanging, this past year though a ton of dizziness and so much memory Loss I thought I had dementia! Turns out this is what my meds do to "older folk" oh well so they are going to gradually try to decrease me to a safer point and would like for me to switch Meds which could result in seizing again witch as strong as my seizures were could be fatal but hey, the dementia is reversible if I do switch,so life choices , ugh anyone else? They want me to do keppra but I've seen a lot of bad comments on that .Getting "older is a drag

This I know but the good stuff is stupid expensive like more than 150 a month
Every person reacts differently and the dosage is trial and error in the end. I only use cbd when I need it to walk and some weeks not at all.

If a copy of the book "Back to Eden" is obtainable, enjoy the good news contained in it! :) (it was published decades ago, and was very helpful to avoid problems then also) ..
Like other books, online, it was getting more and more expensive, even for used copies.

You can get Back To Eden in paperback from Amazon Prime for $8.96 or $7.52 on kindle. Or get a hard copy for $68 ( wouldn't be my option).

I think with the diet that was done in the 1920s, they hit 80-90% of their calories from fat. That means moderate protein and very very low carb.

Ketogenic diet for treatment of epilepsy (The ketogenic diet includes 80% fat, 15% protein, and 5% carbohydrate)

Yes, it is especially difficult finding the least harmful manmade 'junk' to inject !

But those resources that are available provide God-made options, including to offset the side effects of injecting junk into the body ...... as simple as vitamin C daily has completely eliminated the common side effects of chmo for some people.

Ya the chemo thing to maybe I can pray my brother into eating healthy maybe y'all cud pray with me as he is doing chemo
One lady (many more actually) went along and received the chmo as directed,
AND
the difference was she knew enough to tell the doctors she was going to take 3gms of Vitamin C every day (a small conservative dose, btw, as many take 30,000 mg (of the type tolerated by stomach and body , etc; not just any kind) daily)
and
after the doctors were finished (a few months) , her cancer was gone (whether due to chmo or nutrition or divine intervention) ,
AND she had NO NEGATIVE SIDE EFFECTS at all from the chmo (almost unheard of not to have serious side effects) ....

I have Epilepsy, but haven't had any seizures for years. I was on Dilantin, but now they know that it can, with long-term use, cause cerebellar degeneration-which I have. I was finally able to get off AEDs completely since my EEG was fine and I hadn't had a seizure in a while. I went almost thirty years without a seizure, then, out of the blue another grand Mal. This time they put me on Lamictal, which is one of the newer AEDs. It's been wonderful for me and for many that I've heard of. Plus, the side effects are minimal! Ask your Dr. if you could have that.

The OP has not returned to give us an update, but I have to say this: CBD oil has not been proven to stop or prevent seizures and the ketogenic diet is mostly fat, so neither is a good option. If one drug fails try a different medicaiton. I don't like pills any more than other people do but would never consider alternative methods to treat my seizures without scientific proof they are much safer and more effective.
