  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

say a perfect idenity.
Then it IS a penguin.

Be sure to let us know when creation scientists have created this 100% identical robot penguin, complete with real cells made from organic molecules and the like.

Until then, please understand that your thought experiments are silly and naive and irrelevant as to whether or not your favorite deity is real.

Odd, though, that you did not address this question:

"How would this 'identical'-ness be measured or catalogued?"

Please just tell me how the Universe started, and how life originated apart from God then!
Tell us how life was created by God! Details, please! A bible verse or a mere assertion will not do! We are adults, here, and we want EVIDENCE!

You mean like the Roman historian who recorded His life and death, and that His followers saw Him as now being alive again?
Which Roman historian was that? Oh, you mean the guy who 'recorded' it all decades after the fact based on hearsay?

do you agree that a robot that is identical to a penguin is evidence for design?

Ow dear lord, no............ not the robot penguins again.

For crying out loud...........................................................................................................

EVIDENCE is unique to science, not God.

God doesn't have to work within the confines of science.

We call those things He did "miracles."

How do you tell the difference between a natural penguin and an identical non-natural penguin?
A natural penguin would have blemishes.

A penguin created by God would not.

Prove its not a religion.

+200.000 peer reviewed science papers on the subject, each detailing their own share of independently verifiable evidence.

Its illogical for you to expect anyone to believe you because "You said so."

Not a single scientist, biologist or otherwise, has EVER expected anyone to "just believe" what they say. It's kind of the whole point of the scientific method... that people are NEVER to be "just believed".

Circular reasoning is not a wise debating technique but you chose that path.

It sounds like you don't really know what circular reasoning is, because the post you are replying to did anything but that....

Tell me, does an atheist believe there is no God?

No.
Wait, let me be more accurate...

Some atheists might believe that. I'm not aware of any, but I'm sure they are out there. However, that's not what defines their atheism.

Atheism is not the belief that there are no gods.

Agreed. They stand on and use biblical principals such as morality and logic but then deny it in the next breath.

The bible is the very last book I'ld pick up to tell me about morality.
I can honestly say that I (and along with me, most of the citizens of the world) hold a superior moral compass then the one exhibited in the bronze age bible.

So why do all the atheists spend so much time trying to disprove what they firmly say "does not exist"?

I'm actually not aware of any atheist who's trying to "disprove" unfalsifiable entities.
Can you point me to one? Don't forget to also show how that person is trying to "disprove" unfalsifiable entities.

If God does not exist like you say you believe
I don't remember him saying that at all.
Care to provide a link to a post where he says that?

, then why would someone even spend one second of their life trying to convince themselves of something's non-existence? Where is the logic in that? By your own submission its illogical...

This is just building on the previous strawmen, so yea....

What did he say? Was it "abracadabra" by any chance?

God doesn't have to work within the confines of science.

Or logic. Or natural laws.
Neither does Merlin the Wizard.

We call those things He did "miracles."

Miracles, magic,...

From your profile:
Confronted with a bible the first time at 17. Read it cover to cover in a week ...
Do you really expect me to believe that?

What was it? the Reader's Digest codensed version?

No, Mr ReadtheBiblecovertocover, here's what He said:

Genesis 1:11 And God said, Let the earth bring forth grass, the herb yielding seed, and the fruit tree yielding fruit after his kind, whose seed is in itself, upon the earth: and it was so.

I think I asked you this once before, but whatever:

Do you hunt [our] dogma to ridicule it, or because you have an honest *cough* academic quest?

I suspect both:

You have an academic spirit to find out what we believe, so you can please your inner spirits (muses) by ridiculing it.

Just like most other academians on earth.

Why is that an unreasonable claim? An above average reader reads about 300 words per minute. At that rate, one could polish off the Bible in about 44 hours. I've spent that much time and more reading in a week before.

Then it's no wonder you didn't get anything from It, as evidenced by your very basic line of questioning.

Do you remember what color Jesus' words were?

ETA: Sorry, I thought I was talking to DogmaHunter, who seems to have gone silent on me.

I wonder why? ;)

Yes, I know.

I had you mixed up with DogmaHunter.

Rhetorical question: Do you believe he read the Bible in a week?
