Opinion | Trump could be the most honest president in modern history

But when it comes to the real barometer of presidential truthfulness — keeping his promises — Trump is a paragon of honesty. For better or worse, since taking office Trump has done exactly what he promised he would.

Come on, Bob... You intentionally skilled the first paragraph of the article. Lol.

The first paragraph...

Don’t get me wrong, Trump lies all the time. He said that he “enacted the biggest tax cuts and reforms in American history” (actually they are the eighth largest) and that “our economy is the strongest it’s ever been in the history of our country” (which may one day be true, but not yet). In part, it’s a New York thing — everything is the biggest and the best. (bold emphasis mine)

So, according to the author of this article - Donald Trump is the most honest president in the history of the country but he also lies all the time. Lol. I wonder if he'll ever get his story straight.

Well Trump supporters do have to admit that he has already came through with a lot of his promises made.

It's large number of Judges he has appointed. That 9th Court Circuit the known to be crazy one here in California is going to have an opening or two, from what I hear Trump's going to get some decent people in there and possibly clean that up a little. Man he's even having good effects out here in Liberal old California.

If Hillary would have been elected the goats were seriously thinking about dying their hair green so as to fit in a little better out here. They were at ease when Trump was elected. Even so they still do not wear their make America great hats when we all go into town. No reason to start a riot on a pretty day. Most Californians and liberal goats hate those hats.

The biggest reason I see for people claiming he's a liar is he's exposing other politicians for what they really are, and their supporters are angry about it.

That is quite a creative view.
So Trump's lie that he only got 1 million from his father instead of the $430 mil plus he received exposes......who?

LOL, there is quite a difference between being truthful and being honest. He has attempted to keep his promises but they all try. Having a Republican Congress he should have little problem.

It's more like a lame attempt at a deflection than a creative view, if you ask me. My personal favorite article about Trump being a well known habitual liar was him masquerading as a publicist to brag about himself: Donald Trump masqueraded as publicist to brag about himself. And this is the man who is now the face of the Republican Party and the Christian Religious Right. It's just sad.

That's not even the tip of the iceberg on the man's long pattern of deceptive practices.

Consider the following, for example...

Pump and Trump | Trump, Inc. | WNYC Studios

The Trump Family Lied to Push Their Deals Around the World. And They Profited.

Problem is...

"Because sentence against an evil work is not executed speedily, therefore the heart of the sons of men is fully set in them to do evil." - Ecclesiastes 8:11.

Let's see...

"I'll release my taxes (like every other presidential candidate has done in the last 50 years)
Broken Continues to make excuses why he won't do it.

"My new tax policy is going to cost me money."
Broken He's making millions on it.

"I'll restore respect for the United States in the World."
Broken First American president to be laughed at during an address at the United Nations.

"I would not be a president who took vacations. I would not be a president that takes time off.”
Broken Trump is setting a record for the number of vacations he's taken in office.
Before assuming office, Trump repeatedly criticized former president Barack Obama for the amount of time Obama spent golfing. Yet, PolitiFact's Trump Golf Tracker (last updated May 18) shows that in his first year as president, Trump outpaced Obama in the amount of time spent on golf courses.
Updated - Trump-O-Meter: Not take vacations

“We're bringing it (the GDP) from 1 percent up to 4 percent. And I actually think we can go higher than 4 percent. I think you can go to 5 percent or 6 percent.”
Broken Didn't happen last year. Might not this year, either.

"I'll stop the merger of Time-Warner and CNN."
Broken It's a done deal.

"I'll repeal Obamacare and replace it with something beautiful."
Broken

"I'll invest 1 trillion dollars for improving infrastructure."

Broken He spent it all on tax cuts.

"We'll get prescription drug prices way down."
Broken Never happened.

"Six weeks of paid maternity leave to any mother whose employer doesn't provide it."
Broken Spent the money on a tax cut for himself.

"I'll build a big beautiful wall."
Broken Can't get it up.

"I'll sue all those women accusing me of sexual misconduct after the election."
Broken He's not the sharpest knife in the drawer, but he's not crazy.

"I'll bring back thousands of coal jobs."
Broken Coal jobs continue to decline.

"I'll make American safer."

Broken For the first time in decades, violence went up in 2017.

Lots more. Want to see more?

That's high praise, in a Christian forum, for a leader who by refusing to seek God's forgiveness from sin has made Christ out to be a "liar?"

Maybe, but it seems to be accurate judging by their rush to condemn Trump and rationalize the actions of they politicians they support.

So you were there when he was given the money?

Have you read the news? Money leaves a trail.

President Trump Received $413 Million From Father, Much From Tax Dodges: Report

The New York Times reported Tuesday that President Donald Trump received at least $413 million from his father over the decades, much of that through dubious tax dodges, including outright fraud.

The 15,000-word Times report contradicts Trump’s portrayal of himself as a self-made billionaire who started with just a $1 million loan from his father.

The Times says Trump and his father, Fred, avoided gift and inheritance taxes by setting up a sham corporation and undervaluing assets to tax authorities. The Times says its report is based on more than 100,000 pages of financial documents, including confidential tax returns from the father and his companies........

The Times says the Trump family hid millions of dollars of transfers from the father to his children through a sham company owned by the children called All County Building Supply & Maintenance. Set up in 1992 ostensibly as a purchasing agent to supply Fred Trump’s buildings with boilers, cleaning supplies and other goods, the father would pad invoices with markups of 20 percent or even 50 percent, thereby avoiding gift taxes, the newspaper reports.

The Times says that before Fred Trump died in the late 1990s, he transferred ownership of most of his real estate empire to his four living children. The value of the properties in tax returns summed up to $41.4 million, vastly less than the Times says they were worth.

I honestly don't think Donald Trump would be given such high praise like that from the Christian Right if he was a Democratic president. I'm rather confident that he would have received a very firm morally indignant reaction from these Christians if he didn't win the presidency as a Republican conservative and he didn't politically pander to the Christian Right. I can't imagine these conservative Christians calling his bragging of multiple women 'locker room banter' if he was a Democratic liberal president. I also can't imagine these Christians being so dismissive of his adulterous history, being in his third marriage to his former mistress or his affair with a porn star and paying her off to silence her.

(revelation that Trump was given many millions by Daddy, who bailed him out several times when bad business decisions put him in debt)

Trump’s Inheritance

Fred Trump died in 1999 with an estimated net wealth between $250 million and $300 million according to a New York Times article at the time of death. While the specific amount Trump inherited from his father has not been revealed, a January 2016 article from the New York Times shows that Trump's will divided $20 million after taxes among his living children including Donald. Further, in 2003, it was reported that Donald and his siblings sold a portion of their father’s real estate holdings for around half a billion dollars. In addition to this inheritance, Trump’s father helped the mogul financially throughout his lifetime by giving him loans and access to trust funds, and establishing a wealth of real estate and political connections for his son.

An October 2018 report in the New York Times alleges that Trump engaged in dubious practices that helped his parents evade taxes and enriched him in the process.
This Is How Donald Trump Actually Got Rich

He lies about everything else. Why wouldn't he lie about that?

Can you imagine what those people would be doing if Obama did even a fraction of that? Any honest person would readily admit that they'd be calling for his impeachment.

Yes, they would have called for Obama to be impeached. There never would have been the excuse of Obama being a baby Christian or the excuse of how we shouldn't judge him for his sins or the excuse of how a former president's sins were a lot worse than his sins. There never would have been any excuses made for Barack Obama at all from the Christian Right if he had even done a fraction of the sexual deviant and immoral behavior that Donald Trump is blatantly guilty of. A lot of non-Christians I know have already pointed out this obvious moral inconsistency among evangelicals who now support and defend Trump, but who would have never been lenient in the least on liberal presidents, like Bill Clinton and Barack Obama or would be lenient with any other liberal politicians for that matter.

Yeah I read the news and take a lot of it with a grain of salt since opinion/biased news seems to be the norm nowadays. If this was done 15-20 years ago I would probably have a tendency to believe more of it, since it was done a couple of weeks ago not so much. That being said do I believe the $1M claim, no. There are three sides to every story and I'm pretty sure I've seen the first two.
