At Shemini Atzeret Service today the Rabbi was discussing this.
Why talk about this on the 8th day? (I'm posting the pertinent verses but you should read John chapters 7-8)

John 7:2 Now the Jews' feast of tabernacles was at hand...........
10 But when his brethren were gone up, then went he also up unto the feast, not openly, but as it were in secret. ........
14 Now about the midst of the feast Yeshua went up into the temple, and taught.
15 And the Jews marvelled, saying, How knoweth this man letters, having never learned?...................
37 In the last day, that great day of the feast, Yeshua stood and cried, saying, If any man thirst, let him come unto me, and drink 38 He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water................40 Many of the people therefore, when they heard this saying, said, Of a truth this is the Prophet.

3 And the scribes and Pharisees brought unto him a woman taken in adultery; and when they had set her in the midst, 4 They say unto him, Master, this woman was taken in adultery, in the very act. 5 Now Moses in the law commanded us, that such should be stoned: but what sayest thou? 6 This they said, tempting him, that they might have to accuse him. But Yeshua stooped down, and with his finger wrote on the ground, as though he heard them not. 7 So when they continued asking him, he lifted up himself, and said unto them, He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her. 8 And again he stooped down, and wrote on the ground. 9 And they which heard it, being convicted by their own conscience, went out one by one, beginning at the eldest, even unto the last: and Yeshua was left alone, and the woman standing in the midst. 10 When Yeshua had lifted up himself, and saw none but the woman, he said unto her, Woman, where are those thine accusers? hath no man condemned thee? 11 She said, No man, Lord. And Yeshua said unto her, Neither do I condemn thee: go, and sin no more.
12 Then spoke Yeshua again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.
