Given that John 8:1-11 didn't appear until about 400 C.E. I don't know what we are hoping to pin down here?

I think if you are going to make that kind of statement trying to debunk the OP you should cite evidence for this, else it's just derailing my thread.

My Thompson Study Bible draws attention to it - in the text it says: The earliest manuscripts and many other ancient witnesses do not have this text.

Where it refers to the Greek version, that is post circa 400 C.E.
