  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

What's on your mind?

You'll see! I plan to do a livestream for it tomorrow. ;)
Awesome, looking forward to it!

Thank you so much! It's easier said than done to not worry, unfortunately. :( Yeah, I need to try harder to stay away from debates but sometimes they're unavoidable. I hope October will be a great month for us all. :)

Thank you to everyone who showed your support! You're awesome.:purpleheart:
And no problem, Multifavs. :hug::hug:

Guys... Is it normal to buy eggnog in September? My mother told me the stores are already selling Christmas stuff...

This is tricky. It feels too early, yes. BUT I hear the West of Canada is getting snow already, so in that case not at all. It's time to start spicing up our drinks in order to stay warm and add another layer ;)

I was also feeling sad because now all four of my grandparents have seemed to have some form of dementia, and one of them still living has been sitting around wanting to die for a while now, which is really sad to hear about. I was also scared because what if my parents get that someday? I won't be able to stay with them then. And what if my brother and I then get it someday? I worry too much. :/

I can definitely sympathize with this one, Multi. But I have heard everything you wanted to say in your post. Of course we will pray. I pray that God will give you more peace from your worries and shortcomings in the future.

Speaking of prayer, however ....
Bad day at work today. :( So if I may ask that you all please pray for my better performance and focus tomorrow.

The first mistake was understandable considering I tried to go too far out on my own and attempt something I had only been shown once. But the second mistake in the same area in the same day is definitely one of those things that no matter what the circumstances will bring the wrath of Nel down upon you. Thankfully I didn't have to hear it from him since he wasn't there today but it might still happen tomorrow when he comes back, or he'll gripe my trainer Sara out instead and I'll feel bad for that even if it doesn't get to her nerves (it would mine).

And then there's this dang awful substance I remember having to work with last time I was there, a kind of resin which we use in this one test to determine the cloudiness of CP2000 once it dissovles and heats up in that resin, right? And it is super annoying to handle. And when it spills .... ugh. Sucks to try to clean up. And since the test involves two instances of pouring out that resin solution into another vial - one of them also being superheated - you have to be really slow and deliberate, especially if your dexterity suffers naturally as mine seems to. Thankfully Sara didn't pitch a fit over that, and everyone's done that at some point or another so I don't feel that bad. In fact, the person who was relieving my shift said she fumbled and spilled the resin just the night before and basically screamed aloud her laments to the heavens, and to great understandability. ^_^ Still, it's easy to get so busy with things running back and forth that you will forget to be slow and safe with handling this stuff, or just feel so forced to hurry to get everything done that you'll do it anyway, knowing the dangers. I am simply going to have to train myself to keep moving slowly and carefully with this one no matter how pressured the circumstances may ever be. ... And if Nel doesn't like it, ... eh, tough.

Oh, well, tomorrow's another day. That test for cloudiness with the resin is SO inconvenient, though. ^_^

I thank everyone who did pray for this. Today was much better. ... Of course, there's not near as many things that you can screw up when there's a plantwide shutdown for the next two weeks starting today and thus no product for me to work on. ^_^ So we go to work on odds and ends around the lab, most of all detailed cleaning in a place that naturally filthy. I'd show you pictures if it wasn't against company policy. So for most of today I got to work using an extended dust mop to reach up and get the spider webs and dust off of the walls and ceiling in my area. It took significantly longer than you might think ... and there's probably going to be some mild respiratory complication in my imminent future over my next 70 hours or so off. I can still smell dust just beneath my nose even though I have already washed all of that stuff off. Man .....

A man in the eschatology forum questioned my faith in God because I didn't agree with his take of prophecy.

Don't you just love it when people do that to you?

I've had an older woman here send me a PM reaming me out for criticizing America's gun obsession and paranoia with their own government, accusing me of being anti-American.

If it makes you feel any better, I would totally have been on your side with that. Like I have said at least once or twice here before: Act like a potential victim, and you'll likely be a victim.

I don't need a blasted gun to make me feel safe.

Thank you! I will definitely pray for you and everyone else too, and I'm glad to hear today went well! I hate dust too. :p I hope it won't bother you too much.

Oh, I am exaggerating just a tad. ^_^ It was just that dust was going everywhere and Sara my trainer was like, just let me know when you start attacking the walls in here trying to dust, so I can stay out of the room. Either I was just being that meticulous and obsessive-compulsive with dusting or somehow almost two hours was over working on that in my area before I knew it, whereas when the two people in the liquids lab section borrowed the dust mop from me they might have taken ten minutes tops. ^_^

Oh, well, once I got the shop vacuum in action afterward and sucked up all of the remains of old CP2000 and HP3010 product along with the fallen dust everywhere, the lab just ... felt cleaner without all of the bits of dust, spider webs, and old product lying around. Every other lab tech was like, jokingly, "you want to stop cleaning so much and save a bit of the work for the rest of us?" I was like, nah, if I try to pace myself today the twelves hours will just seem to drag by all the slower, and seeing as this is our last day of three before some time off, I want this day to end as soon as possible. ^_^ That's rotating shift work for you; a Monday morning and afternoon can actually be like your Friday before a weekend off.

Seeing as it is October now, the Cinema Snob just reviewed Rob Zombie's take on the classic Halloween movie. It was a pretty terrible movie, especially considering how Rob Zombie has this weird fascination with including white trash characters and an obnoxiously ridiculous amount of profanity in his movies' dialogue.

I think the Cinema Snob summed up his review best with these words just now: "John Carpenter's original Halloween is like a fine glass of Scotch. Whereas Rob Zombie's remake of it is like a can of Billy Beer full of cigarette butts and carny spit. It's an interesting concoction, sure, but it just doesn't taste very good." ^_^

Couldn't have said it better, myself.

Haha, I can relate. I'll say "I'm only going to vacuum one spot" and I get carried away and vacuum the whole room. ^_^ Sounds like you did a great job.

Assignments and exams. Cannot say I've enjoyed this semester a lot. I should've broken up the compulsory courses over a wider time, rather then doing 3/4 courses that haven't interested me a lot. It's made motivation a lot more difficult.
I understand that feeling. It's so hard to be motivated for classes that are not even interesting or fun. But at least you will have them over with and now you know for any other required classes to try to spread them out.

This time Twitch should record the stream, so you'll still be able to watch it later if you miss it.

That ... song ... sucks. I just want to throw that out there.

I don't know why, but I hate hearing it. ... Yet I seem to like "The Circle of Life".
