"Facing your accuser" doesn't always mean "staring" at them. It basically means that you get to be there when they make the accusations to a judge or jury and are there to respond to those accusations. It has nothing to do with intimidation.
Well that’s not the same thing at all. Even in countries where victims testify behind a screen, the accused has a right to respond to accusations. Even here where Dr. Ford doesn’t want to have to face Kavanaugh, he’ll still have a right to respond to any accusations. It’s just the potential for physical intimidation that’s the issue.
Just to be clear, I’ll never support any person being convicted without defense or due process.
