Yes, we can regularly ask for our sins to be forgiven, but we often and regularly sin without even knowing it simply by participating in daily life in our culture. We sin just by driving to the grocery store due to the harm it does to the earth and the harm that has been done to people due to things such as unjust employment practices in 3rd world countries, destruction caused to many places due to greed for oil, and other related things that we almost never even think about when we hop in the car to go somewhere.
That has no truth in it whatsoever bekkilyn. God's WORD says we are only held accountable to what we know is sin not what we do not know is sin...
ACTS 17:30-31 [30], And the TIMES OF IGNORANCE GOD WINKED AT; BUT NOW [When a KNOWLEDGE of the truth comes] COMMANDS ALL MEN EVERYWHERE TO REPENT: [31], Because he has appointed a day, in the which he will judge the world in righteousness by that man whom he has ordained; whereof he has given assurance to all men, in that he has raised him from the dead.
JAMES 4:17 [17] THEREFORE TO HIM THAT KNOWS TO DO GOOD, AND DOES IT NOT, TO HIM IT IS SIN
Yep God's WORD is pretty clear here if someone is doing something they do not know is sin God does not hold them accountable until they KNOW it is sin.
That's just one small example and it's because we live in a world completely corrupted by sin and we are also full of it no matter what we do by our own efforts to cleanse ourselves. It's another reason why salvation by works and law can't help us. So we had better hope that we can be saved even if we have unrepentant sin! (Fortunately, through Jesus' free gift of *grace* we *are* saved (and were saved, and are being saved) for any who choose to accept him and allow the Holy Spirit to take over and make us righteous because *he* is righteous. (Not because we are *ever* righteous on our own.)
NO matter how much you want to spin it with your own words. NO ONE is saved by works and no one has said to you that we are saved by works or anything that we can do in our own strength.
We are all saved by GRACE through FAITH in God's WORD and not of ourselves it is a GIFT of GOD and not of works lest anyman should boast (Ephesians 2:8).
What you are missing is the POWER OF GOD to save you from the POWER of SIN.
ROMANS 1:16-17 [16], For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: FOR IT IS THE POWER OF GOD TO SALVATION TO EVERYONE THAT BELIEVES; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.
[17], FOR THEREIN IS THE RIGHTEOUSNESS OF GOD REVEALED FROM FAITH TO FAITH; as it is written, The just shall live by faith.
God's Word is God's power to save us from sin through faith...
1 PETER 1:5, WHO ARE KEPT BY THE POWER OF GOD THROUGH FAITH ready to be revealed in the last time.
2 PETER 1:3-4 [3], ACCORDING AS HIS DIVINE POWER HAS GIVEN US ALL THINGS THAT PERTAIN TO LIFE AND GODLINESS, THROUGH THE KNOWLEDGE OF HIM THAT HAS CALLED US
to glory and virtue: [4], WHEREBY ARE GIVEN TO US EXCEEDING GREAT AND PRECIOUS PROMISES [the Word] THAT BY THESE YOU MAY BE A PARTAKER OF THE DIVINE NATURE, HAVING ESCAPED THE CORRUPTION THAT IS IN THE WORLD THROUGH LUST.
Some will deny God's Word having a form of Godliness but deny God's POWER to save them from their sins...
2 TIMOTHY 3:5 [5], Having a form of godliness, but DENYING THE POWER THEREOF: from such turn away.
Salvation is from SIN not to continue in sin. If you CONTINUE in KNOWN UNREPENTANT SIN you will die because you have rejected the GIFT of God's dear son (ROMANS 6:23)
WHAT IS GRACE FOR?
ROMANS 1:5, By whom we have received
GRACE and apostleship,
FOR OBEDIENCE TO THE FAITH among all nations, for his name.
ROMANS 6:1-2, [1] What shall we say then?
Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound? God forbid. [2], How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein?
DOES FAITH ABOLISH GOD'S LAW?
ROMANS 3:31 [31], Do we then ABOLISH THE LAW THROUGH FAITH?
GOD FORBID: YES,
WE ESTABLISH THE LAW.
This is the NEW COVENANT promise of God's LAW written on your heart. You must be BORN AGAIN.
Sorry bekkilyn, God's WORD disagrees with you. All those who CONTINUE in KNOWN UNREPENTANT SIN will not ENTER INTO GOD'S KINGDOM.
By the not-good-news that you preach, not a single person would ever reach God's kingdom, in this present life or in the future because you will *never* get rid of sin and *never* be able to repent of all of it even if you were to spend a lifetime doing nothing but trying to repent. Sin covers you just by simply existing in this world even if you stand there and do nothing (which would also be sinful).
Arr but it is good NEWS! We have a Saviour that has the POWER and wants to save us from our sins to free us to walk in his Spirit.
HEBREWS 7:25 [25] Why he is able also to save them to the uttermost that come to God by him, seeing he ever lives to make intercession for them.
GALATIANS 5:16 [16], This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh.
ROMANS 8:4 [4] That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.
JOHN 8:31-36
[31], Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him,
If you continue in my word, then are you my disciples indeed;
[32],
And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.
[33], They answered him,
We be Abraham's seed, and were never in bondage to any man: how say you, You shall be made free?
[34], Jesus answered them,
Truly, truly, I say to you, Whoever commits sin is the servant of sin.
[35], And the servant stays not in the house for ever: but the Son stays ever.
[36],
If the Son therefore shall make you free, you shall be free indeed.
The GOSPEL or good news is that SALVATION is from SIN as we BELIEVE God's WORD. RIGHTOUESNESS is by FAITH not works. AS we have FAITH in GOD'S WORD he gives us his POWER to be FREE from the SINS we KNOW about. As we grow in GRACE God will reveal more sin in our lives that we are to surrender to his WORD by BELIEVING and FOLLOWING his WORD to let him make us a partaker of the divine nature.
Sorry bekkilyn, ONLY God's WORD is true and we should BELIEVE and FOLLOW it over the teachings and traditions of men that break the commandments of God. Those who CONTINUE in KNOWN UNREPENTANT SIN will not enter into God's KINGDOM.
The Holy Spirit is our shield from sin, not observing a sabbath, not getting circumcised, not eating all the right foods, or anything else that we *do*. Any good things that we do are simply a *result* or consequence of the Holy Spirit's work within us. Otherwise, we are hopelessly and entirely corrupt.
NONE have God's HOLY SPIRIT or God's FORGIVENESS without REPENTANCE from sin [Breaking God's LAW]. If you are still practicing KNOWN UNREPENTANT SIN you have not got God's Holy Spirit and need to seek Jesus in REPENTANCE and FORGIVENESS...
ACT 2:38 [38], Then Peter said to them, REPENT AND BE BAPTIZED EVERYONE OF YOU IN THE NAME OF JESUS CHRIST FOR THE REMISSION OF SINS, AND YOU WILL RECEIVE THE GIFT OF THE HOLY GHOST.
ACT 3:19 [19] REPENT YOU THEREFORE AND BE CONVERTED, THAT YOUR SINS MAY BE BLOTTED OUT, THEN THE TIMES OF REFRESHING SHALL COME FROM THE PRESENCE OF THE LORD.
ACT 8:22 [22], REPENT THEREFORE OF THIS YOUR WICKEDNESS, AND PRAY GOD, IF PERHAPS THE THOUGHT OF YOUR HEART MAY BE FORGIVEN YOU.
Salvation from SIN is God's WORK in us as we BELIEVE and FOLLOW his WORD.
.................
Now bekkilyn, all you have provided in all of your posts is your words over God's WORD. Sorry bekkilyn, it seems God's WORD disagrees with you. We must always seek God's truth through his WORD.
Our own words mean nothing if they are not based on God's WORD as it is written... let God be true, but every man a liar; as it is written, That you might be justified in your sayings, and might overcome when you are judged (Romans 3:4) as it is the Word of God that will be our judge come judgment day (John 12:47-48).
.................
SIN is the transgression or breakin gof God's Commandments (Romans 7:7; James 2:8-12; 1 John 3:4) Those who CONTINUE in UNREPENTANT SIN will NOT enter into the KINGDOM of HEAVEN.
..................
God's 4th commandment is one of the ten (Exodus 20:8-11) If we knowingly break it when God asks us not to we stand guilty before God of committing sin (James 2:8-12). If we do not seek him in repentance and forgiveness we are in danger of the Judgement (Hebrews 10:26-27)
Sunday worship is a tradition and teaching of man that has led many to break the commandments of God. Jesus says that if we follow the traditions of man that break the commandments of God we are not following God (Matthew 15:3-9)
There is not one scripture in all of God's Word that says that God's 4th Commandment is now ABOLISHED and we are now commanded to KEEP Sunday as a Holy day.
Who should we follow the teachings and traditions of men or the Word of God? Who should we believe the Words of men or the Word of God?
In times of ignorance God winks at but now ,<when a KNOWLEDGE of the truth has come> calls all men everywhere to REPENT (FOLLOW) (Acts 17:30-31).
Only God's WORD is true and we should BELIEVE and FOLLOW it over the teachings and traditions of men that break the commandment of God (John 15:3-9)
Hope this helps
