  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Okay, so I'm a single mother and I was in a relationship for ten years but that's over now. I never needed to touch before because I was always taken care of in that department but now I'm not. I've heard some people say its a sin and some say it isn't as long as I'm not watching porn or anything like that. I just don't want curses to fall upon me and my kids if I touch. It's just I have no intentions of being with anyone anytime soon so what do I do until then if masturbating is a sin? Please tell me what yal think.

It's perfectly fine as long as you genuinely need release and aren't making excuses to do it. Don't do it because you're bored, lonely, or even because it feels good. If you're doing it in response to sexually arousing material on the internet or tv, turn all that off and step away for a few minutes to clear your head. Also, if you're easily able to distract yourself from the need, you obviously don't need to touch that badly, so don't do it. If you don't hold off until you're really needing it, you run the risk of addiction and porn and other deviant behaviour that's far worse than simple masturbation ever could be.

But once you're sure the body really does need release, go at it at all you want and enjoy it so you can get on with the rest of your day. :) And at least for men, and it would be a good idea for women as well, take a shower as soon as reasonable afterwards.

I had a sad experience with this, i actually lost the fullness of Holy spirit once because of this, i'm not lying. I didn't watched porn or anything. So if you don't care about the Holy spirit do it, but if you do try not to. I guess this can be a little salty for someone but keep in mind this.

It is a SIN, you can't be filled with the Holy spirit and practice that, He will just go away from you!.
Do you have chapter and verse on that?

Impossible, unless you believe "I will never leave you or forsake you," is a lie.

Have you tried this? After "getting the holy spirit" have you committed this action and witnessed it leave you? If you havent, how can you tell others that you know this will happen to them?

Edit: I just read that you have.

Do you feel that you lost it forever, or that you could get it back?

Yes i was close to God and even Jesus rebuked me for that.
Yes you can get it back, no problem, its not something of life and death, it was a mistake, and yes it was definitely masturbation after doing it some times in some weeks, without anything else, and also i could discern after doing it that it something that leaves you dirty, it definetely makes you dirty. Problem is, if you not dwell in the spirit, it probably does not makes you feel anything about that.

Well it is not easy to describe, but in the zone of the abdomen and in my parts, i could discern 'dirt' something that it was not according to what we can do in 'our temple' our bodies...

Was it an empty feeling in the pit of your gut that kinda felt like guilt and condemnation?

No, no, it was definitely something spiritual in the abdomen and parts that is not 'good' and 'nice', it was dirt i could crearly understand that that is not something the Holy spirit wants.

Sorry - I still think your own emotions and pre-conceptions are lying to you.

Sorry but not everything about christian life is specifically described in the bible.
Very True - but the removal of the Holy Spirit from a born again christian? THAT would be included.

You crearly do not know this, because He is very sensitive and you can loose the filling very easily by sinning repeatedly. You do not loose him completely but he is 'shrinked'.

Just research in internet: 'can you loose the filling of the Holy spirit' a sound teaching would tell you that yes you can. You just can't be filled with him, and throw dirt at him.

Like this for example:

Can you lose the baptism in the Holy Spirit? I got it a while back, but now it seems like the power I once had has left me. Does the Holy Spirit ever leave you?

To answer the second question first: In at least one case, that of King Saul, the Scripture says that "the Spirit of the Lord departed from Saul" (1 Samuel 16:14). The baptism in the Holy Spirit refers to a Christian experience of being "filled with the Holy Spirit" (e. g., Acts 2:4; Ephesians 5:18). It is possible to "quench the Spirit" (see 1 Thessalonians 5:19). Thus it is important to be filled and to keep on being filled- which is the fuller meaning of Paul's words in Ephesians 5:18. Be much at prayer, seek the Lord's presence, and ask for the continuous renewing of the Holy Spirit. He will surely grant it!

Oy. that is wrong on so many points I cannot address them all.

Do you have any idea of the DIFFERENCE between "Spirit within" and "Spirit upon" in BOTH testaments?

You get the Holy spirit when you are born again but you no get filled with Him, some christians get filled when converting but the majority wont. It's something you need to seek, ask God for. He gives power to preach and to live the christian life.

Like Paul, he was already a brother, but he was not filled with the Holy spirit, when the other believer i don't remember the name, put hands on him and prayed, he was filled with the Holy spirit. There are several scriptures on being filled with the Holy spirit.
Like the one: Do not get drunk with wine but be filled with the Holy spirit.

And this filling is not reading the bible too much or praying a lot or something, but being filled like a vessel with Him. I have experienced this.

And this filling you can definitely loose if you sin. Because the Holy spirit is very sensitive and to be redundant holy.

And yes you need to be constantly filled with Him. If you don't care and start living a loose life you will loose it.
