  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

True, many just don't understand or study the Word of God.

And then there are some of us who actually think that Trump was a blessing sent.

M-Bob
It hit me a couple of months ago, as I pondered the events that led us to the Trump presidency that divine intervention almost certainly was involved. The fact that the man has survived such a media onslaught that would make the war between the media and Nixon look like a game of checkers is quite convincing.

Without the internet affording both sides a voice, Trump would not have a chance, nor would have he been elected. This is actually historic.

So to bash, trash, and criticize him is almost like telling God He was obviously clueless about Trumps character and obviously made a horrible mistake.
No, it’s not. Sometimes He puts leaders in position as judgement.

Didn't take long for that one to spew to the top did it.

Please take note -- we do not support them and neither does Trump -- stop with the Kake News.

We of this household and none in our church which we are attending today support those people, so why do you keep saying that. It's such a ridiculous claim and yet, they keep putting it out there.

How embarrassing for our Country.

M-Bob
Kake news is a nonsense statement.

And.....point is God put him there.....so what are you going to do? Pray and ask for a do-over on the election...pray Trump gets assassinated.....pray that he gets impeached? Just what are you going to pray and ask God to do about your disdain for this person? Perhaps pray for his salvation? Pray for God to give him the wisdom needed to make the right decisions? I am really curious....what is your prayer about the leader of our great nation at the moment?
I have been through many presidents that I did not care for at all however I fear God's judgment upon me for not showing respect for the choice God made...therefore I pray for every president that gets elected.

I didn’t ask if you saw it. I asked if equivalency is okay? Would you want to be grouped in with someone offensive from the Right just because they had followers?

I get told repeatedly that people on the right aren't represented by their radicals.

Even now as we sit with one of the most radical right wing administrations of the last century.

It's always fun to see people mentally try to work the "God wills it" type of justification.

There is a tenancy among believers to attribute whatever they desire to the will of the Gods.

I strongly agree with that.

Regarding my situation, it wasn't me trying to work out "God wills it". Rather, it was just so unlikely, yet it still happened, the argument could be made, though no laws of physics were violated. I strongly believe that God is directly responsible for some things, like the four actual miracles I've experienced in my life. But lets be frank. Our very existence is divine intervention.:)

And that’s fine. But what I don’t think we are supposed to do is to excuse the immoral behavior of our leaders and pretend it’s okay.

I think Paul was speaking to particular people there, as he often was. It's called "Romans" for a reason. It's not called "Nazi Germans". :)

Believers understand well, that no matter what happens is God's will.
Makes our lives so much easier.
He has the plan and we don't.

I'm finding that we tend to complicate it terribly. The more I study and the more I pray, and the more I experience God's unconditional love, the more obvious it is.

It all really ramped up when I understood the answer to the question, "did the rooster crow once, or did it crow twice?":)

And I would put a lot of this at the feet of Trump.

That is the excuse many use to be just as rude, unmannerly and insulting.

Demonstrates that there is NO higher ground on either side. Fighting improper behavior by demonstrating improper behavior just doesn’t work.

Hating the man so much, they cannot bring themselves to recognize the good he is doing is off balance and in its truest sense bigotry at its best.

I’m not excusing anyone’s behavior. But there is a cause and effect.

Nailed it. I learned this lesson back when Bill Clinton was president. I hated the guy and thought he was probably a rapist and maybe even a murderer (ever hear the phrase "arkancide"?)

But as I watched what he did as president, I found that he was surprisingly centrist and even passed a great welfare reform bill. Sure, it was a republican thing, but he signed it. He wasn't perfect (none of them are) but he actually did a good job - for a democrat. :D

Here is an example:

President Clinton reached an out-of-court settlement with Paula Jones yesterday, agreeing to pay her $850,000 to drop the sexual harassment lawsuit that led to the worst political crisis of his career and only the third presidential impeachment inquiry in American history.

After more than 4 1/2 years of scorched-earth legal warfare, Clinton and Jones brought a sudden end to the case with a four-page deal in which he acknowledged no wrongdoing and offered no apology. The agreement, which will be filed with a federal appeals court considering whether the lawsuit should go forward, requires the president to pay within 60 days.

https://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-srv/politics/special/clinton/stories/jones111498.htm

Paula Jones was vilified and treated like trash. Google it.

Stormy Daniels is being treated like a rock star making millions in a speaking circuit and how long before the tell all book deal. (Wonder why she wants the NDA reversed)

Agree

But while the cause is the same, the effect is exponentially different.

That is the relative aspect I am speaking of.
