  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

What did you think of that meeting with Trump and Putin?

Don’t act as if the Right doesn’t do the same sort of things.

Go ahead and show that it does. I have never seen, myself, such a game being played before by either party. Not as I described in the previous post and Liza did before that.

But, to be sure, this isn't entirely a surprise since that party vowed to do anything and everything it could to overthrow the 2016 election from the moment the Republican won. What has followed since is not really hard to fathom, therefore, even if it is bizarre.

"The role of the Intelligence Community is to provide the best information and fact-based assessments possible for the President and policymakers. We have been clear in our assessments of Russian meddling in the 2016 election and their ongoing, pervasive efforts to undermine our democracy, and we will continue to provide unvarnished and objective intelligence in support of our national security."

-DNI Dan Coats

“My people came to me, [Director of National Intelligence] Dan Coats came to me and some others, they said they think it’s Russia. I have President Putin; he just said it’s not Russia. I will say this: I don’t see any reason why it would be. . . . I have confidence in both parties.” -Trump

So true, everybody is pretty burnt out on all of the sniveling regarding Trump.

Bob, folks are burnt out on all of the sniveling from DJ Trump.

If it's not one thing we know it will be something else they are totally upset about. And then to scare the ones that don't know better they will tell them because of Trump it is now the end of the world as we know it.

My message to them -- relax be happy now, go find and pet a goat.

Goat might listen to you?

M-Bob

Bob, aren't you a retired fellow living up on a mountain in Cali? You get to go biking with your buddies on the beach right in the middle of a workday. It's a whole heck of a lot easier for you to relax & play with goats on account of you having luxuries most folks don't have. You're not in the Reserve like I am with your own butt potentially on the line. I don't think you're a soy farmer trying to figure out how to provide for your family when Trump's trade war has hurt you bad. Your career & most of your life is probably behind you, so you get to kick back & enjoy yourself now if that's how you choose to spend the rest of your days. You don't have to worry as much about a recession from Trump's irresponsibility making it harder for you to buy a house, keep a stable job in the 2020s. You'll likely dismiss concerns about that, laugh at it, but economists aren't. You were blessed to be an American. You aren't seeking asylum on account of violence threatening your children's lives. You're not a parent with tiny kids who've been separated from you. You've been blessed with a lot, from the sounds of it. To whom much is given much is expected. Caring about other folks who haven't been so blessed really isn't all that much to expect from Christians, IMO.

I made zero allusion to what Russia may or may not have done. My comment was directed toward the purported collusion between Trump and Russia.

Well then, here’s your chance now....

Did the Russians, under the leadership of Putin, attack the US electoral process...?

"I have great confidence in my intelligence people but I will tell you that President Putin was extremely strong and powerful in his denial today and what he did is an incredible offer.

He offered to have the people working on the case come and work with their investigators, with respect to the 12 people. I think that's an incredible offer. Ok? Thank you."

This is what capitulation sounds like. Putin must have been very amused to see an American President actually fall for such bait.....

But, one must understand Trump to rate him that highly.
M-Bob
I might have chosen the "I don't know" rating :)

Donald guaranteed he would investigate and prosecute Hillary, the first thing when he was elected. The Russian probe was a witch hunt. And he saw thousands of Palestinians on New Jersey rooftops bouncing with joy about 9/11. In any case, it looks like he has discovered that he can't just say things and they happen. If he really did want to become America's dictator, he could have a private talk about how Vladimir could do it and what Donald needs to do.

Adolph was able to fool the Germans and rally the resident psychopaths of Germany's population. And I am sure America does have enough psychopaths in residence who could help someone become a dictator here.

But > "God resists the proud" (in James 4:6, 1 Peter 5:5). And they would need to fool enough police officers and soldiers into going along with controlling . . . three hundred million people who are not more or less culturally homogeneous like people in Cuba and Germany

Meanwhile a group is fine with killing their own unborn but acting up in arms about putting illegally-entered children in detention away from their parents. Do they really care about children, or about votes??

Both sides of a conflict can be wrong.

No, it looked exactly that bad.

It looked so, so much worse.

I know it's not you, but people creating equivalence between this and past presidents just aren't paying attention. Putin struck at the US's core value, its democracy, the thing that makes America America. Trump stood shoulder to shoulder with Putin and outright defended him. And though one would think it couldn't get worse, it comes on the heels of Trump ripping America's closest allies for far less.

This is a major historic moment, and the message couldn't be clearer. The US can't be counted on to defend its own democracy, let alone anybody else's. It cannot be a global leader under Trump. And if you meddle in US elections, you too can have all of your dreams come true.

REPORTER, JEFF MASON, REUTERS: Thank you. Mr. President, you tweeted this morning that it's U.S. foolishness, stupidity, and the Mueller probe that is responsible for the decline in U.S. relations with Russia. Do you hold Russia at all accountable or anything in particular? And if so, what would you what would you consider them that they are responsible for?

TRUMP
: Yes I do. I hold both countries responsible. I think that the United States has been foolish. I think we've all been foolish. We should have had this dialogue a long time ago, a long time frankly before I got to office. And I think we're all to blame.

....and Trump goes on to blame the Mueller investigation and lament about Hillary Clinton and the election.

DEFINITELY! At least Obama could walk away from those "apology tours" and still be an American. Trump basically just threw in his lot with the REAL DEAL (Putin).

Trump knows that Putin is his master and he showed him the deference Putin so richly deserves!

Putin gave you guys Trump, you should thank him more!

Wrong. Putin is an enemy and at least Trump knows it.

The Deep State is also an enemy, most of us know it, Trump does too, but the Left is whining that we're not "patriots" if we don't acknowledge this.

Too bad, so sad. People who say they can smell us in Wal-Mart do not engender feelings of patriotism, and it's time liberals learn those lessons. Elitism has cost liberals badly.

Quite so. They play at being outraged for about five days until that particular issue is replaced by the next one that is supposed to be so critically important that life on Earth will be over if it is not solved immediately. Notice how "Abolish ICE" is already old news?? And then there was Stormy Daniels. Anyone remember her? And before there was the outrage because Trump spoke sternly to Kim (unlike the outrage going on now because Trump took the opposite approach when dealing with Putin). And so the game goes.

I'm on US Trends on Twitter. Right now there's not a single hashtag about this. Yes, it's just Twitter--but then, the Resistance LOVES Twitter. At the "separated children" there were multiple hashtags at every time of day and night.

We'll see later in the day, but right now I might be looking out Outrage Fatigue. Someone said this outrage was compared to Pearl Harbor. The last was compared to the Holocaust you'll remember. So now where do they go?

People are just sick and tired. It's summer. They're tuning out.

I want to see the reaction of Senate Republicans to the president choosing to believe his friend Putin over all our intelligences services, including many Trump appointees.

As I said, he's not friends with Putin. But at least we're open adversaries with Putin, instead of having our own intelligence services throw him under the bus.

Many, many, many Americans understand this. Very well, actually.

Wrong. Putin is an enemy and at least Trump knows it.

So Trump is personally keeping you informed. Lucky you.

The rest of us have to judge him on his actions, and so far it's been one dumpster fire after another, with Trump continuously kowtowing to Putin.

The Deep State is also an enemy, most of us know it, Trump does too, but the Left is whining that we're not "patriots" if we don't acknowledge this.

This makes no sense.

Too bad, so sad.

Neither does this.

People who say they can smell us in Wal-Mart do not engender feelings of patriotism,

OK, someone at Wal-Mart has told you you need to take a shower, but what does this have to with "engendering feelings of patriotism?"

and it's time liberals learn those lessons. Elitism has cost liberals badly.
The lesson that they should take a shower before going to Wal-Mart? How is that "Elitism?" This reminds me of the Tea Party days when an education was seen as "Elitism". I regard it as a common courtesy.
