Do you have to confess this to a priest?

Following up my last thread post, I have another question to ask that's on the touchier side of the coin. This question has to do with confession and whether bringing this up would be a waste of a priest's time or not. So, here goes nothing...

If somebody else sexually abuses you, must you confess what happened to you to a priest? Especially if what happened to you made it so that you don't consider yourself a virgin anymore?

Sorry if this is a difficult thing to read. I just thought I ought to ask as I do an examination of conscience (I want to start listing my sins early).

I'd say that things forced upon you are the sins of those who committed this evil act.
How can you as a victim ever be sinning against God by being abused ? Remember that God is your father and he loves you. He's not some coldhearted judge who's looking for fault and is unreasonable.

If this troubles you however then I'd recommend you to seek the priest for a spiritual guidance and pastoral accompaniment as a way of helping you through your issues.

Btw I'm so so sorry this happened to you. Prayers and thoughts.

No, because this isn't a sin.

Now if you wanted this person to die or suffer, thought about how you might hurt or kill them, or wish their family harm - that can be seen as sinning and may be something you want to confess. Otherwise this will build up in your heart and turn you away from Christ.

No you don't have to confess it to a priest. But I recommend telling it to a police officer, and, possibly, a counselor of some sort.

I'm not aware of anything in scripture or CCC that says we are to confess and seek forgiveness for the sins of another. If someone steals your car is that something you would need to confess? Of course not. This is no different in that regard.
