People changing parties/ideologies is nothing new. It has been going on here since the foundation of this country. People change parties/ideologies as they mature, and during major life events for them or this country.

IMO, it would be more noteworthy if someone's political ideologies did not change as they got older. Find me a handful of people who have not changed their minds on several key points as they went from 20 years old to 70 years old.

That would be newsworthy!!

I would think that changing your mind on several key points would lead to a change in party and/or voting?

Again, it’s really funny how we’re supposed to Walkaway from the Dems for their crappy behaviour, but there is no exhortation that this be done with the right.

This is the same nonsense we’ve seen since Trump was elected, it’s the same as the muh civility crap.

Right does something heinous, they point to something lesser the left did and then somehow convince themselves they’ve got the moral high ground.

Evangelical conservative Christians don't have a moral leg to stand on in criticizing liberals for bad behavior or criticize liberals because of some Democratic politician with bad behavior when they politically support and defend Donald Trump. I know we both can imagine the feeble attempts at moral indignation coming from evangelical Trump supporters if Obama had demonstrated even the slightest hint of unChristian and immoral behavior Trump has had even before he was elected the president. You know we would have never heard the end of it if it had been Obama who had been in his third marriage to his former mistress or if he had fathered five children with three different women or if he had paid off a porn star to silence her about their affair or if he had bragged about groping multiple women or if he had bragged about watching young teenage girls getting undressed or if he had joked about dating his daughter if she wasn't his daughter. I could go on with more examples of the moral inconsistencies of the Religious Right when it concerns Donald Trump.

I am really glad to hear this scenario, love it actually, wish I had been there.

They were afraid of a liberal 'wacko' not a plain old liberal, which most of them probably were liberals themselves.
Now where I live if you went to a rodeo selling a product or wearing an Obama T-shirt you'd make very few sales and could easily end up in a fist fight with a 'wacko' conservative. It really depends on the culture of an area how one is received.
I will say though that my community is very good about treating gays/lesbians with love and respect. I think that is because some of their own children came out as gay starting at least 40 yrs. ago.

There was a black guy that walking around my tent wearing a: "do not blame me I voted for Hillary shirt". He got quite a few hard stares by customers, and someone yelled: " Hillary?! Thank god for small miracles!" as he left the tent.

As far as I know it a "wacko Conservative" is the type that bombs an abortion clinic, or beats people as they try to enter. That is viewed as wrong by all circles. And along that line the common theme was how such actions were condone instead of condemned by the same individuals teaching tolerance. Most individuals were more concerned along the lines of getting the attention of some young thug, than an actual 'liberal'. However, that terminology was used as quoted. It is also interesting to note no one would DARE, myself included, to wear a red MAGA hat or pro trump clothing simply because of the violence it would bring. That speaks volumes. So does the fact that many were intimidated to even buy a firework.

As for the culture of the area, I have worked that area for 13 seasons or 6ish years. Many of them know me and know that I have a black daughter form a black Haitian X wife. So there is that. I also know people in the gay community, have been to the Pulse night club, and even to the Parliament house. So in those respects, I myself kinda have an 'in'.

This is a matter of perception. Removing illegals from this country is not heinous. Nor is building a wall. Reducing taxes, or even bolstering trade. These come into the area of perception and personal opinion. All your rebuttals to this are based on your opinion and/or political stance. I am not a second class citizen because I do not agree with you. Nor am I any of the horrible things I will be labeled as.

This however, is not open to interpretation. It is in fact wrong, and not acceptable conduct.
