  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

You've heard it from the man himself:

Donald J. Trump on Twitter

"...I have the absolute right to PARDON myself..."

for now, he claims he won't do it -- but of course, we all have the right to change our minds...

What would you say if he ends up pardoning himself?

Is this the first time this topic came up in US history?

Significantly less then our ham fisted, schizophrenic foreign policy.
It's not like that money would have been spent on healthcare or education.

I consider it an investment in entertainment.

Nothing if you're not an American tax payer, or dealing in all cash transactions and cooking the books with IRS.
I am a taxpayer.

How much has it cost me, a taxpayer to have the investigation continue this long?

So far the total is around $17 mill, as for how it breaks down to individual households per total household, maybe it's time to break out a calculator? Is it not enough until Hilary gets the desired result? When is enough enough? Do we not have a country to care for? It's more than a distraction, it's also time, and it has become a ridiculous waste of it.

Except that a sitting president cannot be indicted -- only impeached. That means that non-impeachment charges would have to wait until Donald leaves office... and thus is no longer able to pardon himself.
Can a sitting President be indicted? I don't think so. If not there wouldn't be any criminal conviction to be pardoned from until after he was no longer President and had been convicted of a crime.
I don't see anything in the Constitution which would shield a President from indictment.

"I have existed from the morning of the world,
And I shall exist until the last star falls from the night.
Although I have taken the form of [Donald J. Trump],
I am all man as I am no man and therefor I AM....
a god.

I shall await the unanimous decision of the Senate, Claudius."

$.12 per taxpayer.

I don't care what Hillary wants. This isn't about her.

Meh. It's fun seeing it drive Trump up a wall and isn't costing us nearly as much as you make it seem.

I guess it's possible? But then I think he would be impeached.

Personally, I would not care if President Trump pardoned himself at this point, and I would not hypothesize guilt where none has been proven.

Ironically, under Burdick v United States, such a pardon itself would be proof of guilt.

To date it has proven to be a ginormous waste of taxpayer dollars, and taxpayers can thank the previous administration and sore loosers for it.

Define "ginormous."

Wow. Anything to try to make Hillary look bad. Even if it's a fake.

Is this play on words funny?

Hilary seemed to think so, but I doubt the network fired her or the mayor dude.

Which if he did it, it will go down in history the most stupid decision that a president ever made.
At that point you bring the popcorn and soda and enjoy the fireworks.

Done and done. 17 million dollars divided by 139.6 million taxpayers comes to approx. $121,776 each.

By way of comparison, the cost of a single F-14 Tomcat is $38 million, which comes to $272,206 per taxpayer per jet -- and the government made 712 of them...

Do the math.

Well, if we must have political theater, at least make it entertaining...

OK Good point.
So I have been searching and from what I'm reading there are differences of opinion about whether a President can or can't be.

So this is what Sec Clinton might look like with brown mustard on her face.

And they call Trump a racist...

It looks more like there was a chocolate fountain at the party
and party games ensued. He does like to party with the girls.
