  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

So this is what Sec Clinton might look like with brown mustard on her face.

And they call Trump a racist...
You may want to consult a optometrist about color blindness.

I look forward to finding out in court, only so long as the president represents himself.

Inadequate/incompetent legal counsel is grounds for appeal, IIRC.

Maybe - if impeachment charges are leveled against him. On the other hand, there are non-impeachment charges that would be pardonable.

Except that a sitting president cannot be indicted -- only impeached. That means that non-impeachment charges would have to wait until Donald leaves office... and thus is no longer able to pardon himself.

What if we forgave each other for everything like Jesus commanded then let them live there life?

You want to throw open the prison doors while you're at it?

Article II, Section IV
"The President, Vice President and all civil Officers of the United States, shall be removed from Office on Impeachment for, and Conviction of, Treason, Bribery, or other high Crimes and Misdemeanors."

President Trump's statment is nonsensical. If the President needs to be pardoned, he will already have been removed from office, will no longer be President, and will no longer be able to grant pardons.

"The President ... shall have Power to grant Reprieves and Pardons for Offenses against the United States, except in Cases of Impeachment." Const II.1

The clause doesn't seem to exclude pardons for the President.
Can a sitting President be indicted? I don't think so. If not there wouldn't be any criminal conviction to be pardoned from until after he was no longer President and had been convicted of a crime.

Personally, I would not care if President Trump pardoned himself at this point, and I would not hypothesize guilt where none has been proven. To date it has proven to be a ginormous waste of taxpayer dollars, and taxpayers can thank the previous administration and sore loosers for it.

How much money has the investigation cost me?
