When we are weak we are strong. Its a daily thing, not just a one time deal. I had people tell me that depression can be healed, and how i need faith bla bla bla, but i grew into a spiritual person through my infirmities. I have both sorrow and joy. :)

2 Corinthians 6:10 as sorrowful, yet always rejoicing; as poor, yet making many rich; as having nothing, yet possessing everything.
depression isn't the same as sorrow.
The bible says it's a spirit, and tells us how to be rid of it.
it's easy btw, put on a garment of praise.
Fear has been the fun "spirit" that tries to torment me.
And i have also grown thanks to that thing, but God stated
that He did NOT give me a spirit of fear, but of power...

Yes, ALL things will work together for our good,
and God can use what that devil throws at us, to bring
about good things. He's our victor and our peace etc.
So its a win win no doubt

Problem is, while we're explaining away our demons
.. depression, fear, drunkenness, sloth, lust etc
we could be out there slaying dragons.

So over time, we gain more knowledge, training, skill
etc to fight bigger and bigger fights. Before, I'd cry and
whine "Help Daddy!!!!" as time goes by, I stand up like
a big girl and fight!
As I grow stronger in that area, another attack comes,
so no lack of sword training.
IMO

I agree. In fact, I believe when we speak of "tithing", we normally mean "giving" these days (and you are correct, we need to be clear about that fact, for several reasons, actually).

Except that pastors who preach tithing explicitly and deliberately pick some of the Mosaic Law tithing rules (and many they just made up) and many even threaten the curse of the Law as they do so.

There is an inherent problem with using the word "tithe" itself. God defined the tithe. He defined it very specifically: What it is, when it's done, how it's done--including penalties for not doing it precisely as He specified.

Nobody today tithes as God specifies, nor can they. That's why Jews today do not tithe. They know they can't follow God's explicit instructions. So they don't do something different and call it a tithe.

If you don't do it right, you come under a penalty for claiming to do it at all.

I remember seeing only one place in the New Testament about tithing and that is when Jesus was talking to a Jew that was living under the law. Otherwise, the Apostle Paul says...
"He who sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and he who sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. So let each one give as he purposes in his heart, not grudgingly or of necessity; for God loves a cheerful giver."- 2 Corinthians 9:6-7

I believe, that there are a lot of people that don't give at all, because they feel that giving 10% is impossible for them. If the pastor would teach 2 Cor. 9:6-7 instead... everyone would give and the church would have more, imo.

I used to hear 2 Corinthians 9 every Sunday.

No pastor wants to teach 2 Corinthians 8, which is the precise definition of what Paul is talking about. But no pastor in the US want's to teach that chapter, especially not verses 13-15.

In fact, I once heard David Jeremiah preaching chapter 8, and he actually skipped right over verses 13-15 as he read the chapter--as though they weren't even there.

Our desire is not that others might be relieved while you are hard pressed, but that there might be equality. At the present time your plenty will supply what they need, so that in turn their plenty will supply what you need.

The goal is equality, as it is written: “The one who gathered much did not have too much, and the one who gathered little did not have too little.”

We have tribulation in this life. You cant pray it away but instead grow through it.

You have not scripture or example in the Bible to prove that. God will take what the devil has done and turn it around for our God. But it was never God's desire that any tribulation comes.

You can see through the Bible that when tribulation comes to those who was willing to turn to God and have faith in God that He will deliver them, God did.

In fact I think Christians suffer more tribulation and problems than they ever should because they are willing to excersize their faith and confess tribulation and problems rather than confess God's willingness to bless them.

You have not scripture or example in the Bible to prove that.

John 16:33 “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”

Romans 5 Therefore, having been justified by faith, [a]we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, 2 through whom also we have obtained our introduction by faith into this grace in which we stand; and we exult in hope of the glory of God. 3 And not only this, but [c]we also exult in our tribulations, knowing that tribulation brings about perseverance; 4 and perseverance, proven character; and proven character, hope; 5 and hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out within our hearts through the Holy Spirit who was given to us.

2 Corinthians 12:9 And He has said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for power is perfected in weakness.” Most gladly, therefore, I will rather boast [a]about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may dwell in me. 10 Therefore I am well content with weaknesses, with insults, with distresses, with persecutions, with difficulties, for Christ’s sake; for when I am weak, then I am strong.

Acts 14:22 strengthening the souls of the disciples, encouraging them to continue in the faith, and saying, “Through many tribulations we must enter the kingdom of God.”

So you are saying i have sorrow not depression? I'll need to ponder that.
no.
I think it could be a "spirit" of heaviness.
not saying you "have" a demon.
Saying that hell influences us way more than we realize.
I didn't realize until i started kind of taking authority over
dumb junk in my life,.. like fear.
Spirit of heaviness is mentioned. (below) Isaiah
Spirit of fear is mentioned Romans 8:15
Lying spirit. micah 2:11 (strange one lol)
Saul had a tormenting spirit of some sort 1 Sam 16:23
I think we sometimes misunderstand what's going on
in our life.
When i'm hurt I should ask God if it's Him disciplining
me or an attack from the enemy to keep me busy
and my focus on ME rather than on being about my
Father's business.
Not sure about you, but when I get all down and scared
or feeling rejected etc. I can lose a lot of good time
We need to REDEEM the time for the days are evil
(Indeed!)
Didn't mean to force my views down your throat.
just sharing an alternative idea.
BTW it's SUPER easy to deal with this stuff the
right way. WAY easier than all the meds and
counseling and stuff lol>
Being on my knees for hours is great don't get
me wrong, but much better when i can focus
on more important matters like a neighbors safety
or someone's salvation, rather than my pitiful
fears... I feel like it's a waste and displeasing to
the FAther to see me a mess like that.

To appoint unto them that mourn in Zion, to give unto them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they might be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the LORD, that he might be glorified.

David also had depression/sorrow.

Psalm 42:11 New International Version (NIV)
11 Why, my soul, are you downcast?
Why so disturbed within me?
Put your hope in God,
for I will yet praise him,
my Savior and my God.

amen, we sure do go through crap!
But we definitely also go through things we shouldn't
or don't need to.
God does want us to prosper and be in health
ABOVE all He wants us to prosper and be in health.
Which is why He shows HIMself strong on our behalf
when we fall into troubles.
So it's not that He wants us to 'suffer".
He wants us to deal.
I'm now "content" too with all the crap that comes
at me, for when I'm weak, I'm strong.
I can laugh at that junk. My "DAD" Has this!
And some things are sent to prune us thus
making us even stronger.
We just gotta know when to hold em and know when
to fold em.
We do FIGHT too.
We WRESTLE not flesh and blood but spiritual wickedness
in high places...etc.
Balance is always key in theKingdom.
imo

i've done that since seeing him do it!

God says to PRAISE when heaviness comes.
God says He gives oil of GLADness for mourning
Then too we should mourn with those who mourn>
We're going to get in trouble!!

I don't know if we call it tithe or give or whatever but
if you study 2 Corinthians 9
and see that great benefit from giving.
(ALL grace will abound to you etc.)
and just do that.
If we'd all do that, there'd be a whole
lotta grace going on!

So if they would follow their own advice, not only could they have everything they want, but when it comes time for the offering, instead of asking for money, they could pass it out.

You are correct friend. It's a scam.

And I have noticed that they always twist scriptures in their pitch.

They mis-quote this one: 'Give, and it will be given to you' (Luke 6:38). But what does the verse before say? 'Forgive, and you will be forgiven'. It's talking about forgiveness, not money.

Another scripture that is twisted is from the parable of the sower, 'sow your financial seed' they say. But the bible says: 'The seed is the word of God' (Luke 8:11).

God Bless :)

And same with healing.
They SAY that God (through His body) heals.
Well if God heals, why isn't everyone healed?
Pshaw! :)

One day when we all have our resurrection bodies we will be. Until then...........

God Bless :)

Interesting, you reminded me of a few experiences. I have had health issues here and there through life. So there was times when I started going to a church but then was not able to attend regularly. Meaning I attended every sunday and then there was a month or more that I could not go to church. When we came back we was shunned. Like what did we do wrong. Even if we intentionally stopped going, where is the forgiveness.

So, to often the church ignores what the scriptures teach and pervert others for their own benefit.

Well I need my body to be healed while I'm here too :)
If the devil takes us all out, who's going to go to the
poor and sick to bring the good news? :)
Thief cometh not but to kill, steal and destroy.
(Here on earth)
I came that you might have life, and that more abundantly.

Some people who have endured blindness and other things have been very active in the church. Fanny Crosby was blind and wrote many hymns. She was blind but she had 20/20- spiritual vision. Then there is Nick Vujicic, a preacher without any arms or legs. He says that God used a man without arms and legs to be His arms and legs. :)
