  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Unfortunately, that just isn't so. They DO worship her.

You say they do they say they don’t. God will be the one to decide. The Bible teaches that we should pray for one another. It also teaches that believers who die in this world live on in heaven. So why can’t they pray to Mary and the Saints who are alive in heaven and ask them to pray for them? Maybe they can hear their prayers maybe they can’t. What unforgivable sin are they committing by praying to Mary and the Saints?

Anyone who worships the Blessed Virgin is a heretic, Collyridianism--an obscure sect that existed in pre-Islamic Arabia--was condemned as a heresy in the 4th century.

Collyridianism is still condemned as heresy, so anyone who would worship the mother of God is a heretic.

So who are these people who worship Christ's mother?

-CryptoLutheran

I was once sent by God to cleanse an office in Beverly Hills of three witches who all had familiar spirits they swore were dead people giving them advice. One came in the FORM of the dead father of a girl. Another came in the FORM of a dead friend blown up in Vietnam. And the head witch had three. All of these were duped into believing what ever the spirit said. The demonic spirit in the FORM of the dead mother of Jesus has duped many for centuries. These apparitions of "Mary" or "The Lady" even asks the people it appears to to "worship her."

When did Mary, the real mother of Jesus, form a church? Like Church of the Blessed Virgin, etc. They DO worship her.

That would be a clear indication that she is not Mary because Mary honored God. Hopefully those people were Christians and could realize that and not be misled by those evil witches.

It didn't confuse Jesus in His letter to the church age of Thyatira. This is a difficult subject, because Catholics have more emotional love for the queen of heaven than Jesus. They are brainwashed into believing the person they worship is really the Mary of the Bible.

There is no evidence of any credibility that Catholics are brainwashed, nor that they any any meaningful sense worship Mary. My experience of them suggests that they venerate and hold her in high regard because of the significant role she has played in God's plan for the salvation of the world by his Son and hers, Jesus the redeemer.

The unwed Mother in a stable in a foreign occupied country, the crushing pain of the Mother by the cross, these are powerful images of the great vulnerability which mean that there is a huge identification with Mary, especially among many of the vulnerable of our world. In this they tap into the great power of the Good News of Salvation, and whilst I get that you worry that they do not see the great multifaceted diamond of the Gospel in quite the same light that you do, there is the possibility that in them God is showing us something else in the truth of the Gospel.

forgive us our sins, as we forgive those who sin against us, and save us from the time of trial

Thou shalt have no other gods before Me.

Also not recognizing that there is only ONE mediator between the Father and man, and that ONE is Jesus, not His dead mother.

They truly believe they are praying to Mary. That is a sign they are brainwashed.

Once the witches either left, or were fired, I went to another job.

His dead mother? Jesus said he who believes in me shall have eternal life. And if they do have eternal life who is to say they can’t hear prayers? Do you agree that the Bible does say that we can pray for others and ask others to pray for us? Are prayers for others worship?

They are not God. Only God is omnipresent, omniscient, and omnipotent.

Why do I have to teach you these things. You should already know them.

That is a bit like saying if you don't agree with me it is a sign that you are wrong.

The prayer word has been thrown around here a bit. Yet I wonder are we talking about, Adoration, Confession, Intercession, Supplication, Thanksgiving or something else?

Is there not a wider context of prayer as the conversation we have - listening and speaking - which transcends death for as we will celebrate specifically this weekend coming, Jesus has Risen triumphant from the Grave and led a host of captives.

Death is swallowed up in Victory.

If someone believes something unscriptural, then I can say that is wrong. It doesn't take a genius to know I'm not speaking on my own authority, but on the Word of God.

God’s omniscience doesn’t mean people in heaven can’t hear prayers. You are assuming.

Where does it say that they do? What scripture are you standing on?
