Why do atheists post on ChristianForums?

It doesn't seem to me they enjoy bantering with Christians who never accept any of their assertions and who probably never will.

That depends on which atheist you're talking about. Some of them do enjoy bantering with us, and some of us enjoy bantering with them.

Some may enjoy an intellectual challenge, some may want to lead others away from Christ with what they believe is true, and some may do it because it's fun to play Devil's Advocate. It really depends on the person.

as long as they are respectful I don't have an issue with it. I do wonder sometimes if there are atheist message boards and if Christians post on them..

See Genesis Chapter 1:26-27 (applies to everyone) and Romans Chapter 1:18-32 (applies to non-Christians) for answers. Interest in "natural theology" is an implication. Perhaps there is effort in disbelieving which is similar to the effort of believing? Whether one believes or disbelieves the "object" of these efforts is basically the same in concept. As Christians we love the Lord with all of our mind, heart, and soul, and this process requires our participation which involves effort. For the atheist, it is just the opposite, involving enmity (Romans 8:7) against God. Enmity is hostility, and hostility requires effort.

you atheists think all religions are silly, but it is only christianity you people view as inherent racist, violent, anti-gay, anti-women etc. and you atheists think that ALL christians are bad people. but not wonder...most of you atheists are leftists.

As to your claims though, have you ever asked them about it? Personally, when it comes to the bigotry, homophobia, sexism, violence, judgemental nature, etc...I think Islam tends to be a lot worse.

There's more variety of beliefs in christianity... and I definitely don't think all Christians are bad people.

Yes and some are explicitly anti violence. If only most Christians were like The Society of Friends.

Edit: Who once offered me aid without ever even asking if I agreed with their faith as they did for thousands of others at a time when the rest of then good Christians out there wanted to force me to kill little brown brother. Well unless he killed me first.
