  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

There has never, in the history of American cable news, been a channel as unethical as CNN.

It is great you have an opinion about something, but this thread is about fake news reports that CNN gave someone "scripted questions".

This is the station that is currently trying to chase off the advertisers of InfoWars

The free market in action. What are you, socialist?

So, Jones has a You tube video claiming the survivors of the Parkland shooting are 'crisis actors' and when companies discovered their advertising appeared on his video, thanks to some CNN reporters, You tube cracked down on Jones.
Advertisers flee InfoWars founder Alex Jones' YouTube channel

Breitbart blames CNN for this, as if the reporters did not have the right to ask the companies what they thought or did they know their advertising was on Jone's channels.

So it is not about Jones lying blatantly again and making things up, but it is about the evil of CNN for asking questions of the advertisers.....sad.

BAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH!!! The supposed evidence for CNN "trying to drive Infowars out of business is being reported by Breitbart based mostly on claims made by... Alex Jones and Infowars.

BAHAHAHAHAHAHAH!!! This is "Hydrogen Hillary" all over again! Bahahahah!
CNN Pushes YouTube to Ban Alex Jones, Demonetize Video Channel | Breitbart

??? I never go to Breitbart. I'm basing it on articles CNN has ran. They ran a piece about how InfoWars "only" needed two more strikes to be banned from Youtube, and then started tracking down advertisers from the channel and getting them to pull out.

I guess you could say this is "So's Law" again. :D

CNN using their free press to show the dishonesty of another "media" outlet isn't something that is nefarious.

Interestingly, you run to support other media outlets doing the very same thing to CNN, yet that is supposedly in the interest of making the media better.

From what I can tell, according to you:

Attacking Infowars for their content and methods? Bad.
Attacking CNN for their content and methods? Good.

It doesn't seem like promoting an honest media is your primary goal.

I'm sorry for confusing you, Bogs, let's try and clear it up for you.

Did these other media outlets post articles about how to deplatform/remove CNN from a social media network like Youtube, Twitter, etc?

Did these other media outlets contact CNN's sponsors and put pressure on them to quit advertising?

If they did, please point them out to me so that I can condemn them as well.

Firstly, as I haven't seen any articles by CNN about how to demonetize Infowars. I did a search and found claims that they have tried to demonetize Infowars, but I couldn't find any actual source articles. Perhaps you could share.

As far as putting pressure on CNN advertisers, luckily, good ol Breitbart has been covering this aspect as well.

Conservative Media Watchdog Groups Pressure Advertisers to Pull Ads from MSNBC, CNN | Breitbart

Regardless, informing sponsors of the content they are sponsoring isn't playing dirty. If one is falsely making claims about someone to cause them to lose sponsors, I agree, that is highly unethical. Pointing out that "hey you're sponsoring someone that is saying _this_" isn't unethical. Suggesting that it is strikes me of the mindset that the problem is whistleblowers pointing out crimes, not that crimes were committed in the first place (and no, espousing a point of view isn't a crime, but neither is telling someone they are financially supporting a point of view).

In and of itself, not too suspicious, but realize they'd already alerted their followers about flagging InfoWars videos in a nudge nudge wink wink sort of way:

InfoWars' main YouTube channel is two strikes away from being banned - CNN

As far as putting pressure on CNN advertisers, luckily, good ol Breitbart has been covering this aspect as well.

Conservative Media Watchdog Groups Pressure Advertisers to Pull Ads from MSNBC, CNN | Breitbart

I really don't want to click a BB link, so I'm just going to assume Breitbart is encouraging it, which is absolutely wrong, and that you don't have a problem with non-competitor groups doing this.

Regardless, informing sponsors of the content they are sponsoring isn't playing dirty. If one is falsely making claims about someone to cause them to lose sponsors, I agree, that is highly unethical. Pointing out that "hey you're sponsoring someone that is saying _this_" isn't unethical.

When you are doing it to your competitors, yes, it becomes a bit unethical.

Suggesting that it is strikes me of the mindset that the problem is whistleblowers pointing out crimes, not that crimes were committed in the first place (and no, espousing a point of view isn't a crime, but neither is telling someone they are financially supporting a point of view).

I'm not a part of the Obama White House, so I have no idea why you would think I had that mindset.

If they did, then we might not know about it if the sponsors didn't think it worth addressing.

The average corporation probably gets tons of hate mail from crackpots -- very little of it is newsworthy.

Right, but another media station contacting you is very different.

Right, but another media station contacting you is very different.

Only if you consider them more worthy of attention than an individual crackpot.

Guy admitted to editing the emails. Let's profit on my own kid's tragedy. He should face charges for this.

yep, I assumed that would end up being the case, but I didn't want to publicly state that accusation and risk being wrong. :)

I can't believe, after it was shown that the OP was fake news, that some are still trying to defend the fake news that CNN is trying to drive Infowars out of business.

I thought you quit the forums. Welcome back.
