One of the repeated defences made by those protestant martyrs was 'Show me from Scripture and plain reason how I am wrong and I will gladly recant'. Many were also persecuted for translating Scripture into teh common tongue. In the vaccine discussion it is those favoring vaccinations who publish real studies and allow the anti vaxxers to address real studies instead of anecdotal stories.

I also don't tend to trust any online source, but thanks for the link.
I have done my research using actual history books and not trusting online sources unless they are actual medical studies that I admit make my brain hurt. My university has an incredible library with a plethora of real periodicals, journals and books.
The history of smallpox is none too pretty. The history of Edward Jenner and vaccination is none too pretty either. Heck, the history of disease isn't pretty at all. But history itself is so important to study. Those who don't know their own history are doomed to repeat it.
It's always interesting to me how people speak about smallpox as such simple proof of the value of vaccination, spouting such erroneous conjecture. The truth is, it's just not that simple. It is much more complex than that. Correlation does not imply causation. If anything, if you dig deeper into the history and take time to really study it, smallpox (and polio for that matter) is a disease that proves that vaccination needs a great deal more study. While good in principle at best, it doesn't even come close to doing what it portrays itself to do, and may very well be more dangerous for the human race than we even understand or ever will.

The safety of the current CDC vaccine schedule has never been proven in large, long-term clinical trials. There is increasing evidence that the risks outway outweigh the benefits.

Vaccines have not been tested for their ability to cause cancer, the degree to which a vaccine can damage an organism, their ability to damage genetic information, their ability to change genetic material or for the long-term adverse reactions. Product monographs make this fact clear.

The current CDC schedule has never been tested for safety in the real world way in which the schedule is implemented.

No independent trials confirm the safety of giving multiple vaccinations at once. The research shows a dose-dependent association between the number of vaccines administered at the same time and hospitalization and death.

No long-term clinical evidence exists that show vaccinated children have better overall health than unvaccinated children.

Well now I love history too, so since this is something you're learned on please share more. If they really did abandon vaccination then what did they do to treat any breakouts of smallpox? Were none of the folks in that city already vaccinated before they did this? Is what they did then something that could be done now that there's outbreaks of diseases like the measles that had been nearly eradicated in a lot of countries before the anti-vaxxer kick?

Immediate isolation of smallpox cases and that eventually all smallpox patients received professional nursing (in contrast to most of the rest of England) easily explains the better results.
