My mother passed away peacefully this morning. I don't want to make an announcement except to tell my friends who talk about the weather. I enjoy this little spot on the internet.

The Forecast:

Britain is bracing itself for one of the 'coldest weeks of this winter'

Milder and drier here today. I've heard that it's going to be cold this week. I'd like some snow, but I know it can cause disruption and is a nuisance if it freezes. I hope everyone manages to stay warm indoors, and dresses warmly out of doors (I'll start on my hat-wearing rant of previous years if I'm not careful! )

The very cold weather is up in Scotland, so we miss it, and Scotland are used to it...

3c here in England, sunny, cloudy, a few flurries of snow, not a lot
went for a walk this morning...with hats, gloves, scarves...bracing but great. We have a lovely view as our estate is quite high up the hill in the foothills of the Penine range.
Going down to -2c tonight, but a good central heating system keeps us cozy,

I've just checked and no snow here yet, south of Manchester. If it's going to be cold, and it was when I was outside earlier, I'd like to have a bit of snow. Planning to don wellies and have a walk tomorrow as long as it's not too slippery under foot. Indoors - so much warmer with a new front door - thank you Lord!

It's 44F with a breeze of 14 mph in Central Oklahoma today. It's a very pleasant day.

Grey overcast skies, caution of an unsettled day ahead
Will it or won't it rain / snow ??

Good to hear about the new front door! Yes that will be a lot warmer,
we have had a sprinkling of snow but nothing is sticking, not worth getting the sledges out yet!

We had 34F for a high today and a forecast low of 14F tonight. It was a pretty day.

That is what I was hoping for here!

The snow arrived but instead of the beautiful crystal like flakes which so delighted me last week, all we got was small drops of sleet. You could only tell that it wasn't rain when viewed against something dark. As for settling, all it did was cover the branches of the trees (which did look pretty). On the ground it has turned to water - a real wash-out metaphorically and literally.

Tonight it is cold, but still and cloudless. The stars are beautiful.

only fell upon the white rose and buddleia out back
by the time it reached the floor it was drowned in less than a millimetre of surface 'damp'

Beautifully sunshine, went for a short walk to the shop...it was lovely. I had to dodge the odd ice patch...it was quite cold but i was well wrapped up. Hat scarf mittens thick coat padded trousers...ha ha.

That's the way to do winter!

What I like about this weather is that there is not much wind. I'd rather have the cold, clear and calm conditions than to be battling with gales. It is cold and calm outside now, but not clear - no stars tonight. Temps just above freezing I think.
