Just looking to debate any sort of theist. Just post in this thread what you believe and why.

No name calling or school yard tactics please, they don't serve any purpose. I prefer to have a one message system. Try to address all points with one message before moving on and making other points. Many times i have talked with theists who make a million points and am left to sift through a mountain of assertions before i can reach a conclusion or make a point myself. lol. Other than that. Bring it on! :)

Fun. I have to go to work now, but I am not a good person to argue with because my reasons for belief are mainly based on personal experience. Also I think if you dig your heels in and support your argument, I am going to believe what I believe more strongly than when I started and so will you.

I don't know why you even responded then. lol. You basically commented to say "i'm irrational, and if your position starts to make sense i will become more irrational." Guess i will have to put a clause that only people interested in a debate should comment.

Regular ray of sunshine aren't we. :)

So, did that server any purpose? Or was it actually as bad or worse than name calling/school yard tactics?

That's not an ad hominem attack though. If i say something stupid like "10 + pie = tree." Say that's stupid. What i mean by schoolyard tactics is using ad hominem attacks, like "shut up fatty. You're ugly." those serve no purpose in a discussion, but if i point that a position is irrational, then that's directly related to what we are talking about.

Also i didn't even say it. She was the one who said it. She just didn't use the word irrational. If someone admits they don't use reason or logic when making decisions that's literally the definition of irrational. Pointing that out isn't an insult. No animosity at all. :)

Did you want to debate? What do you believe and why?

Not what I saw...but suit yourself.

Debate? You? You have already shown what good it would do, so, no, of course not. You will always be right and you will always have an argument...never ending....it would be fruitless....been there.

Why don't you go debate evolution over creation, there is already a thread up on that. Might be right up your alley. Or maybe there was something in particular you wanted to debate, and you can get things started for us?

I know that's not how you interpreted what i said. Which is why i clarified that it wasn't an attack.

I don't like the term "argument", it implies anger or ill will coliquially.

And the reason i would rather debate religious ideologies is because that's what interests me. Evolution is not a debate, it's a fact of science. People either know that or they don't, so i don't want to waste time debating something that isn't a debate. We might as well debate if the sun is hot. lol.

I can assure you that it wouldn't be fruitless. At the very least we would come to understand each other better. :)

Evolution is not fact of science that's why it's called "Theory of Evolution" that means it's not proven for 150 years but just a theory. There are few million $ for proving evolution so if you think you are good enought to prove it you can become millionaire .

Also math disprove evolution.

I don't want to debate but i have to give a reason for every man so if you need reason to believe God exists i can give you .
Since you are skeptic that means you have doubts about something , so tell me first what is stopping you from believing that God exist and we can work from it .

Is it evolution? Old Earth ? Fine tunning ?

Of course it would be fruitless. See what you just did with evolution, calling an absolutely laughable, unproven theory fact beyond a doubt?

You are always right...in you mind (gullible too) they haven't proven a thing about evolution as true to you. You only see a bunch of to do about it, and you've seen it for so long, you just figure it must be true, in case you wonder what I mean by gullible....fruitless to debate with assumptions.

If they have proven it fact as you claim, then explain how that is so for those of us who don't buy it...please. :)

I am technically an atheist. That means i reject the claim that a god exists. It's not an assertion that no gods exist or that no gods can exist, which would be a positive claim. Theists make the claim that a god exists so the burden of proof is on them to present evidence for their claim.

But in fair play i would say the reason i do not believe is that i have not been presented with sufficient evidence to warrant a belief in any god.

What about you, what's your reason for believing in god?

One edit* Those things you listed have no bearing on whether a god is real or not. If they proved tomorrow that evolution was wrong and the earth was 10 thousand years old, that still doesn't explain a god. You'd still have to prove god is real, otherwise it's just a claim.

If you don't want to debate, and are only goading me into debating something i said i wouldn't waste time on, i must ask; why are you still commenting? I'm genuinely not trying to be rude. I have made it clear that i only want to debate theistic positions. You don't want to, so... there is nothing left to say..

Basically whether a god claim is justified, or if it's justified to warrant a belief in a god. But honestly i could debate whatever religious position, i.e. Is god moral, is the bible a sound historical document etc..

Did you have a topic in mind?

I agree. lol. But a question worth asking in my opinion. Or we could talk about another theistic position. Did you have something in mind other than whether or not it's reasonable to believe in a god?

I’d have some interest in discussing historical reliability of the gospels, but only if you already know a lot about the different arguments and what’s behind them etc. I’m just saying that because I joined a thread like that and ended up having to post long explanations
