It has started to become winter temps. this week. The weekend and next week should be colder temps. with possible light snow on some days.

As Dave said, we get a little bit of snow but it's mobility reasons why I hate it.

A friend from Germany came to visit us recently and they were laughing at us Brits due to the fact that we seem so ill-prepared for even half an inch of snow. A foot of snow and they begin closing schools down, although I think up in Scotland they cope a lot better than us. My friend and his partner mentioned that they remembered going to school knee deep in snow.

Thankfully, although the wind kicked-up (a bit) @ 3.00 am, this morning
followed by some very-heavy, wind-driven rainfall, there was no snow / no frost
and the weather-page, states, that we are presently
@ 8.C = 46.4 degrees Fahrenheit

Much-worse was expected of the 'Storm' \o/

I don't like icy surfaces either. But does the UK get a lot of snow?

By comparison with some States in the US ?? nah !!!
The deepest that I have ever seen on the streets was about 30 inches
and 8 feet to 10 feet in country lanes (about twice, in my entire life)
No, not, by 'a long-chalk'

We wouldn't have use for a 'snow train' here, in England
it would 'rust-up' due-to, a total lack, of use [with, our rainfall ~here in North West]
We call this place "UMBRELLA CITY"
If you carry an umbrella you might not need to open it up
and if you don't carry one, you will probably regret, leaving it at-home

We might, have a couple of inches of snow (overnight) from time to time
and have the sun, take it all away again by Lunchtime next day
Unless, it was followed by a hard frost, and whilst the kids
would enjoy making slides (?) these days, I do appreciate how terrifying
some slopes [inclines] can be, to perambulate

I love the snow itself, but am very cautious about walking on ice these days. I've also tried to drive, to pick up a colleague for a course we were going to, on an ungritted road - not fun!

Some due this weekend I believe. So far this week it's been in the upper single figures C (40s F).

I have family in Canada and they're use to snow. When my ex was stationed in Germany I experience knee deep snow which was nice (I was in my 30's then). I think I've only experienced two bad winters in the UK. One when I was about 12-13 (early 1980's), the other was 2010 but not bad compared to the one I remembered as a kid.

We've had snow in central England earlier this morning with more predicted for the evening rush hour.

Currently freezing but sunny max temperature is 2 degrees celsius which is 35 fahrenheit

Well, I awoke this morning to a frost (all-) over my neighbour's car
then heavy cloud rolled-in from the North
There was a very-brief spat of sleet (5 or 6 minutes, only) and the clouds went on Southwards
the skies became blue and sun shone upon the houses, across the street
The frost disappeared from my neighbour's car (parked, upon my driveway)
and afternoon arrived
Miranda and I chatted (mid afternoon) via a video-call, as she prepared an evening meal
for her family and I saw more cloud roll-in from the North and roll on by

There were snippets of news, reporting snowfall in the Midlands, but nothing here (yet)
Temps were milder this afternoon, but as the time (now) is 20 minutes before midnight
I know that I am going to have-to switch on the hot-water heating and determined
that I would get upstairs somehow, to bring down the 'electric underblanket'

I hope everyone remains comfortably warm and those whom live near those wildfires
are kept safe and comfortable also

Oh Lotuspetal, you weren't born then when we had the bad one in 1962/3 (when I was 12 )! It snowed on Boxing Day and didn't thaw until March. They cleared the roads after a while but it became a normal sight to see the snow banked up on the sides.

This morning it had snowed by 2.30, and there is still a light dusting of it left. Nothing on the roads though, just shed roofs and the like. I think we're due to have it later on Saturday. Surprisingly I feel warm inside, it must be calm outside. Just had a peek - it is and the sky is beautifully star-lit.
