What was endearing to me is that God MINISTERED to a worn and weary Elijah who had just faced down 400 of Jezebel's pagan priests on Mt. Carmel. He was spent. He was in need of sleep and nourishment. God ministered to Him, taking care of him, seeing to it that he ate and slept.
God was GOOD to Elijah. He MINISTERED to him just like the GOOD Shepherd that He is.
This verse comes to mind:
"for so he giveth his beloved sleep." ~Psalm 127:2
And just as He did with Elijah, He also giveth us sleep.
How precious is THAT??!!
(on a side note, it's precious to see with the men of God throughout the Bible, how He interacted to, and ministered to them, like Gideon, when God re-assured him, again and again, that He could be trusted. and it was priceless when Gideon had his first encounter with the angel of the Lord, when he called Gideon a "mighty man of valor", and Gideon thought he must be talking to someone else. And then there's Moses who, after soooo much back-biting from the Israelites, who were even going to kill Moses a couple of times, asked God out of pure exasperation, and in so many words, "are they MY children? Did I give birth to them?") Hahaaaa
i LOVE how God related to these men of God and how open they and their hearts were to God. It's precious how God ministered to each one. And yes, He gave them sleep. And He will give us sleep too.
Precious.
