Jews - No. They CAN'T. Temple's down. No priesthood. If they WANT to follow Torah, God made it impossible for them to do so. And given that the only reward promised in the Torah is a farm in Israel, to actually follow the Torah now (which can't be done) is useless even for Jews: they can't get a farm in Israel by doing it, and most don't WANT to live in Israel.
As I said, that is a discussion for another thread in a different forumn.

Catholic means universal so anyone who is squeamish about the word is uneducated about what it actually means.

the word "catholic" has evolved into a type of misnomer and people instantly connect it to a religious body. I have never heard it used outside of a religious context and to reject this would be irresponsible regardless what the the proper meaning of the word is. Lucifer is latin for "light bearer" and has nothing to do with Satan, save for a single latin translation from a metaphorical reference, but try and tell people that... it just doesn't work. Catholic means a religious body and telling people they are ignorant because they say this would be like correcting people every time they say "tin foil".

Or "hot water heater". :)

Forgive me...

Why not? Skeered?
No. I am sure there are many reasons. Some are unaware of the creeds. Others object to the terms "catholic" and "apostolic."

It appears that some Denoms have no creeds at at all, such as this movement on CF I found out about.
Sounds as if the may be Sola Scriptura? [which I am]
That is the Church of Christ and the Christian Church. They are pretty much identical except the Church of Christ disallows musical instruments in their services.

They are (kinda) Sola Scriptura; but they have a hermenutic called CENI:

Command
Example (approved)
Necessary Inference

When you get to the Example, only APPROVED (by them) examples are binding. For instance, nothing from the OT is approved at all.

I agree of course, and find the thought of Oneness Pentecostals being Apostolic somewhat humorous (Sorry).

Yet, I do know for a fact that he speaks the truth especially in the southern US.

Forgive me...

I generally object to these special classes of Christians; it creates an "us" vs "them" mentality and typically seeks to separate than unite and edify. If we are all from Adam then in the same way are we not all Apostolic? Each nuanced Christian body can draw a straight line from where they stand now to the NT Church.

to understand your position are you objecting to "x group" calling themselves Apostolic? What makes one Apostolic?

Being established by an Apostle. That literally means 2000 years of direct history.

A group established in the 1800's doesnt qualify.

Forgive me...

I agree. That's what makes a church "apostolic".

Why I don't like Catholic... Just read history. An organized denomination without any outside persecution can be a really bad thing.

Sure, there are bad elements in our history.

Then again, you're not a Muslim because of us, so be sure to remember to balance the bad with the good.

I suppose being established in the 14th century is more worthy... of course those rules don't apply to Orthodox so it's silly to even bring it up. Every insider claims true faith, it's only the outsiders that reject them.

I cant think of a reason why something other than being established by an Apostle would count. Thats what those who first used the phrase meant. If we change that definition, are we not entering in by theft?

Forgive me...

Pardon my intrusion, but I'm not sure God really cares which group humans want to classify as, just like how God likely doesn't care if we eat pork, and drink wine, but thats not allowed in islam. likely a man-made rule (ouch) so, while we are not made of gold with an ever-present halo entrapped around our head, we are to keep God's word forever stamped in our hearts, thats what i believe, he truly is concerned about.

Ill give the standard answer of 5... but there is room for expanding that.

Did you know that there is one Church that has had no historic break in her services?

Antioch. 1st daughter Church of Jerusalem.

Forgive me...
