  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Each person was shot and killed in September of 2017 in Chicago, a city with the tightest restrictions on guns in the US.

Each person was African American

Not one was shot by a cop

Not onewas helped, mentioned nor mourned by BLM or any other organization that has national attention 'on behalf' of African Americans. They are Just forgotten.

sooooo you're saying that as long as black people kill each other then it's okay for cops to kill them as well since you hate black people and can't afford them the rights to protest unfair treatments they have endured via government organizations in this country over the centuries?

I sure do have a point -

We as a country need help! It's not a gun issue, it's not a race issue, it's a heart issue.

Do you know who kills the most blacks? - other blacks
Do you know who kills the most whites - other whites.
Do you know what cities have the highest gun deaths?
the ones who restrict guns

When will we address the real causes?

noooooo - I'm not saying that - you are.

I mourn the loss of each of the 16 out of 30,000,000 blacks that were killed by interactions with the police last year. I mourn just as much, if not more for the thousands of others who are killed by people of the same race and are never mentioned.

When will they protest those unfair treatments, because it's costing them a whole lot more lives.

most people are killed by others like them since most people are killed by people they know and segregation in this country has led to homogeneity in those that will likely surround you.

and none of what you've mentioned has anything to do with unfair treatment of african americans by the government.

people don't have to be one block issues. you can deal with problem A whilst still dealing with problem B.

The issue is that problem A is getting 100% of the dealing and problem B is ignored.

and problem B is killing hundreds and hundreds more than problem A

God have mercy!

Praying for all 45 (including a 14 yr old and a 15 yr old amongst them) of these tragically killed forgotten one's families, loved ones, and all who knew and loved them. And praying for all of Chicago and the entire state of Illinois.

This is an epidemic.

God help us.

They are not forgotten.

I don't entirely disagree with your point, However:

Do you know what cities have the highest gun deaths?

https://www.thetrace.org/2016/10/chicago-gun-violence-per-capita-rate/

I sure do. The answer is there's no real correlation with gun control.

Didn't you and I have a conversation a week or so ago where I definitively showed you that wasn't true?

The point, as I see it, is that while blacks insist that their lives should "matter" to others their own lives don't seem to matter to themselves. How does a national black circular firing squad help blacks overcome their problems? And how does white racism drive them to butcher each other? It seems like a case of "Nobody loves me. I'm going to go eat worms." Only the worms are made of lead.

So once again this is just another attempt to get people to shut up about one problem whilst pointing fingers at another.

The issues are not mutually exclusive. You can deal with one whilst protesting the other.

If you wanted to bring to light these killings and efforts to correct them then that's fine go right ahead.

But by hitching this to violence perpetrated by the police you are basically saying since blacks kill each other then they should not complain that police kill them as well.

Blacks can complain all they want about police killings, but it pales quickly when black on black homicide numbers are presented.

Gun regulations need to be implemented on a national, as opposed to the state level, because firearms can be imported across state lines, from those jurisdictions where they can be easily obtained, without being detected.

Windsor Ontario Canada is less than a mile away from its American counterpart, Detroit, and yet the contrast in gun violence between the two couldn't be more dramatic!

Detroit, with its 2nd Amendment that allows handguns and semi-automatic firearms, averages 1 homicide daily, while Windsor, located in a nation where only hunting rifles and shotguns are allowed, went 27 months without a homicide.

Despite being within eyesight of Detroit, the primary difference is the lack of a "gun culture" in Windsor, whereby handguns and assault rifles which have served as the weapons of choice involving most homicides, are not readily available - despite its close proximity to one of America's most notorious cities known for gun violence!

One state; one city with gun control is a meaningless facade. Nothing can happen. You need consistent rules throughout the whole country.

BLM already knows there is pain in their communities. They are plenty and well aware enough. There are plenty of organizations already dealing with those violence in urban centres. Tell me: Why does EVERY black political group (let alone this one) have to conform to what YOU want them to protest. They know exactly what they are saying. They are plenty aware that this community pain is expressing itself in violence.

See, the police are supposed to help extricate them from that (by helping the citizens feel and be safe). Sometimes they even succeed. But sometimes, they keep them down; hard, or unnecessarily. There's plenty of times when that happens. Then there are the outright violations that lead to deaths. And it's not necessarily only those who lead the high risk lifestyle.

And it's not that they are forgotten by their community (which they are not always) that is so tragic. It is that you have used all those deaths arbitrarily to solicit compassion when you yourself didn't care either two days ago.

It's also worth pointing out that the black community does, in fact, protest against black on black crime. There are rallies. There are programs. Just because you haven't heard of them doesn't mean they're not out there.
