I love types and shadows. Though I'm not a typologist I have come across quite a few. What I love about them is they give you a bigger and more complete picture, they prove that Scriptures are inspired and they point to Christ. Here is one of my favorite types in the Bible. It's about Joseph. Joseph’s life is a perfect type of Christ’s coming.

  1. Joseph was loved of his father but hated by his brethren because he was spiritual.- So was Jesus.
  2. Joseph’s brethren sold Joseph to the Egyptians for 20 pieces of silver (the price of a slave) where he was innocently put in prison. - Jesus was sold out for 30 pieces of silver and handed over to the Romans who put him on the cross for no crime.
  3. In jail Joseph was accompanied by two other prisoners. One was saved and one was condemned. - On the cross Jesus was crucified along side two other men. One was saved and one was condemned.
  4. When Joseph was exalted out of prison he went and sat at the right hand of Pharaoh. Whenever Joseph came forth the trumpet sounded and every knee had to bow. - When Jesus rose He ascended and sat at the right hand of God. When He shall return the trump will sound and every knee shall bow and every tongue confess that Jesus is Lord.
  5. Joseph married a Gentile bride.- Jesus took a Gentile Bride (Gentile Church)
  6. Joseph made himself known again to his brethren while his bride was in the palace. - Jesus will return to the Jews again to make Himself known to them after the Gentile Bride is raptured and in Glory.
What is your opinion of types and shadows and are their any other examples of types and shadows you can contribute?

That's fascinating. I wonder whether it's a coincidence or whether God planned it that way.

Definitely planned that way. There are many others that I will add as the thread go along. This one is probably the clearest one I know of but some others are also quite amazing too.

Here is another one

  1. Moses was born a deliverer. - So was Jesus.
  2. When Moses was born all the babies under two years old were killed by the Kings orders. - The same thing happened when Jesus was born.
  3. After Moses spent 40 years in the desert or wilderness he came back with a ministry of signs and wonders. - After Jesus was tempted in the desert or wilderness for 40 days he came back and had a ministry with signs and wonders.
  4. After Israel came out of Egypt Moses went up the mountain and came back with the ten commandments. - After Jesus came down from the mount of olives He gave us the beatitudes.

Never knew that!
I find symbolism, analogies, types, and shadows one of the most intriguing things about the Bible, and have found it runs very deep in depicting things that relate to us, and the purpose of God that we find in Christ.

I agree. And it made me realize just how inspired the Bible actually is. I've lately started looking at the tabernacle of the wilderness and it's just mind boggling! I've downloaded a couple of videos from YouTube about the Tabernacle and have had a field day so far.

With this you can start and take the Bible from Book to Book and just prospect for these Gold Nuggets. It's amazing. For example...

Outer Court
Width Length and Height = 1500 Cubits Which was the time of the Law from Moses to Jesus
Inner Court or Holy Place
Width Length and Height = 2000 Cubits Which is the time from Jesus till now
Holy of Holies or Most Holy Place
Width Length and Height = 1000 Cubits Which is the Millennium Reign

But you probably knew this already :)

I'm not Catholic at all. However, I can think I can agree with some of what you are saying.

I do also believe that Mary types the True Bride Of Christ that takes the Written Word in faith into her heart which produces the Promised Son. The first Seed (Word of God Seed) she receives in her mind and heart and it produces the natural flesh seed in her womb which we know is the seed of the women or the Son Jesus of Genesis 3:15. - The Bride (Christ's Church or Body of Christ) receives the Word in Her heart and produces children of God through faith in the Word and make herself ready for the Promised Son second coming in flesh.

Allusions in Revelation from Old Testament
Allusions in Revelation from Old Testament

I find this person's view concerning the "allusions" found in the book of Revelation that are found in the Old Testament/Covenant rather fascinating.
Would anyone like to put down verses from Revelation and the verses from the OT/OC that are alluded to this? I think that would be fun. Thanks

THE SYMBOLISM IN BOOK OF REVELATION

The key to interpreting the Revelation is, for the most part, the Old Testament. Period.
And you apply these symbols used in Revelation that were taken from the Old Testament to the life of Jesus and the early church. You find the stories of the Old Testament, from which Revelation takes references, actually PARALLEL Jesus and the early church!.........................

One man studied and found 348 allusions (not illusions, Light) in Revelation from the Old Testament. You see the similarity in wording and the context mirrored in Revelation and the particular Old Testament story, and immediately can recognize the reference source!
That is IF you know the bible well enough to even notice that.

95 of the 348 plain references used in Revelation as taken from the Old Testament are repeated in Revelation.
That makes about 250 Old Testament passages are cited. How many chapters are in Revelation? 22. That makes about TEN OLD TESTAMENT REFERENCES FOR EVERY CHAPTER!................

EZEKIEL AND REVELATION PARALLEL

1. THRONE VISION - (Rev 4./Ezek 1).
2. THE BOOK (Rev 5/Ezek 2-3)
3. THE PLAGUES (Rev 6:1-8/Ezek 5).
4. Slain Beneath the Altar (Rev. 6:9-11/Ezek. 6)
5. WRATH OF GOD (Rev 6:12-17/Ezek 7).
6. SEAL ON SAINTS' FOREHEADS (Rev 7/Ezek 9)
7. COALS FROM ALTAR (Rev. 8/Ezek 10).
8. NO MORE DELAY (Rev. 10:1-7/Ezek 12).
9. EATING THE BOOK (Rev 10:8-11/Ezek. 2)
11. MEASURING THE TEMPLE (Rev. 11:1-2/Ezek. 40-43)
11. JERUSALEM AND SODOM (Rev. 11:8/Ezek 16)
12. CUP OF WRATH (Rev. 14/Ezek. 23).
13. VINE OF THE LAND (Rev. 14:18-20/Ezek 15)
14. GREAT HARLOT (Rev 17-18/Ezek. 16, 23).
15. LAMENT OVER THE CITY (Rev. 18/Ezek 27)
16. SCAVENGER'S FEAST (Rev. 19/Ezek 39)
17. FIRST RESURRECTION (Rev 20:4-6/Ezek 37).
18 BATTLE WITH GOG AND MAGOG (Rev. 20:7-9/Ezek 38-39)
19. NEW JERUSALEM (Rev 21/Ezek 40-48)
20. RIVER OF LIFE (Rev 22/Ezek 47)

I think I'm definitely going to look into it. Things like this makes me love and respect the Old Testament so much more (not excluding the New Testament).
The Bible has become a New Book and the brilliance of the Mind behind it all is paradoxical. Yes, thank you for that.

I see patterns, inclusive in what Moses was instructed to make sure he made things after, something he saw in the mount, which the bringing down of it finds its significance in the glory that Moses had kept his face covered over, even after it had faded, which is indicative of the veil in relationship to the face (of Jesus Christ that we behold, have been taken away in him).

What the holy place is to the tabernacle of Moses, the wilderness is to Israel; it reveals the process of coming to the son they depict (which is relational to us, and more specifically, relational to our soul), though patterns in the OT fall short of an only begotten (which is important in the light of the pattern found in the two sons though I have found it's this to everything), like the temple Solomon dedicated, in the year that was after the year of jubilee, being that God does not dwell in buildings made with hands, as a place he finds his rest, like a dove Noah sends out, and a third time you don't see this dove again until it rests on Jesus after his baptism in the Jordan.

Oh yes, God always follows this pattern of coming down or entering when the time and conditions are right. This beautiful picture you find depicted throughout Scripture. I believe there is a great significance to this concerning the end time too. Like you mention (and I've never noticed this till you pointed it out) the dove that you find in Genesis and then only coming down again at Jesus's Baptism.

Genesis:8:11: And the dove came in to him in the evening; and, lo, in her mouth was an olive leaf pluckt off: so Noah knew that the waters were abated from off the earth (notice at the evening time)

And again...

Matthew:1:10: And straightway coming up out of the water, he saw the heavens opened, and the Spirit like a dove descending upon him:

like the temple Solomon dedicated, in the year that was after the year of jubilee, being that God does not dwell in buildings made with hands, as a place he finds his rest

The Tabernacle in the Wilderness...

Exodus:40:33: And he reared up the court round about the tabernacle and the altar, and set up the hanging of the court gate. So Moses finished the work.
34: Then a cloud covered the tent of the congregation, and the glory of the LORD filled the tabernacle.
35:
And Moses was not able to enter into the tent of the congregation, because the cloud abode thereon, and the glory of the LORD filled the tabernacle.

The Temple the year after jubilee...

1Kings:8:10: And it came to pass, when the priests were come out of the holy place, that the cloud filled the house of the LORD,
11: So that the priests could not stand to minister because of the cloud: for the glory of the LORD had filled the house of the LORD.

The Upper room 50 days after (Jubilee) the Resurrection...

Ac:2:1: And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place.
2: And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting.
3:
And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them.
4: And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.

And it is prophesied to happen again

Matthew:26:64:
Jesus saith unto him, Thou hast said: nevertheless I say unto you, Hereafter shall ye see the Son of man sitting on the right hand of power, and coming in the clouds of heaven.

Acts:1:6: When they therefore were come together, they asked of him, saying, Lord, wilt thou at this time restore again the kingdom to Israel?
7: And he said unto them, It is not for you to know the times or the seasons, which the Father hath put in his own power.
8: But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.
9: And when he had spoken these things, while they beheld, he was taken up; and a cloud received him out of their sight.
10: And while they looked stedfastly toward heaven as he went up, behold, two men stood by them in white apparel;
11: Which also said, Ye men of Galilee, why stand ye gazing up into heaven? this same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven.

And also...

Acts:3:20: And he shall send Jesus Christ, which before was preached unto you:
21: Whom the heaven must receive until the times of restitution of all things, which God hath spoken by the mouth of all his holy prophets since the world began.

The Second Coming...

Thessalonian 4:16: But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope.
14: For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him.
15: For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep.
16: For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:
17:
Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.
18: Wherefore comfort one another with these words.

The same event in Book of Revelations...

Revelation:10:1: And I saw another mighty angel come down from heaven, clothed with a cloud: and a rainbow was upon his head, and his face was as it were the sun, and his feet as pillars of fire:
2: And he had in his hand a little book open: and he set his right foot upon the sea, and his left foot on the earth,
3: And cried with a loud voice, as when a lion roareth: and when he had cried, seven thunders uttered their voices.
4: And when the seven thunders had uttered their voices, I was about to write: and I heard a voice from heaven saying unto me, Seal up those things which the seven thunders uttered, and write them not.
5: And the angel which I saw stand upon the sea and upon the earth lifted up his hand to heaven,
6: And sware by him that liveth for ever and ever, who created heaven, and the things that therein are, and the earth, and the things that therein are, and the sea, and the things which are therein, that there should be time no longer:
7: But in the days of the voice of the seventh angel, when he shall begin to sound, the mystery of God should be finished, as he hath declared to his servants the prophets.

And we find the same pattern with the new heaven and new earth...

Re:21:1: And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea.
2: And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.
3: And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God.

Every time this takes place when all is in their correct places at the appropriate time. Every thing has its appropriate foreknown time and season.

Very important is that these events runs with the process of justification, sanctification and baptism of the Holy Spirit. (water, blood and Spirit) which is also the process of life and redemption.

1John:5:6: This is he that came by water and blood, even Jesus Christ; not by water only, but by water and blood. And it is the Spirit that beareth witness, because the Spirit is truth.
7: For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one.
8: And there are three that bear witness in earth, the Spirit, and the water, and the blood: and these three agree in one.

  1. When a baby is born... water breaks, blood comes forth and the spirit of life.
  2. New Birth... water baptism, cleansed by the Blood of Christ and then filled with His Spirit.
  3. New Kingdom... Noah's flood Baptism (first 2000 years), Christ poured His Blood (2nd 2000 years), Earth gets its Baptism of the Spirit. (3rd 2000 years)
  4. On the cross all three of these elements were released from the body of Jesus
Joh:19:34: But one of the soldiers with a spear pierced his side, and forthwith came there out blood and water.

Luke:23:46: And when Jesus had cried with a loud voice, he said, Father, into thy hands I commend my spirit: and having said thus, he gave up the ghost.

I too am fascinated with that and started looking at it many years back. I still have this site saved and thought you might be interested in it. Almost all of these can be seen in the book of Revelation which I will be glad to discuss with you on a different thread. Blessings..

Studies In The Scriptures - Tabernacle Shadows - Chapter 1
TABERNACLE SHADOWS OF THE BETTER SACRIFICES

CHAPTER I
THE TYPICAL TABERNACLE

The Camp--The Court--The Tabernacle/Sanctuary--The Brazen Altar--The Laver-- The Table--The Lampstand--The Golden Altar--The Mercy Seat and Ark--The Gate--The First Veil--The Second Veil--The Significance of These and Their Antitypes.

THE Tabernacle which God commanded the people of Israel to construct in the Wilderness of Sin, and in connection with which all their religious services and ceremonies were instituted was, the Apostle Paul assures us, a shadow of good things to come. (`Heb. 8:5; 10:1`; `Col. 2:17`)
In fact, the whole nation of Israel, as well as its laws and its religious services and ceremonies, was typical........
It is not simply to gain a historical knowledge of the Jewish forms, ceremonies and worship that we come to the investigation.........................................
..................................

Gala 4: 25 for this Hagar is mount Sinai in Arabia, and doth correspond to the Jerusalem that now [is], and is in servitude with her children...30 but what saith the Writing? `Be you casting out! [#1544 ekbale] the maid-servant and her son....... [Genesis 21:10/Revelation 11:2 "court of the Preists]

Revelation 11:1 And there was given unto me a reed, like unto a staff, saying-- Be rousing! and Measure! the Sanctuary of the God, and the Altar[Golden Altar of Incense?] and them who are doing homage therein;
2 and the Court/Palace[Court of High Priest?], the one outside the Sanctuary, be you casting out!! [#1544 ekbale] out-side and you should not be measuring, that it was given unto the nations
and the holy City they shall be treading forty and two months[Reve 13].

It is interesting to note that the greek word for "Temple"[#2411] is never used once in Revelation, tho almost all bible versions render the greek word [#3485] as such. [except for Young's Literal Translation].
It is actually the Sanctuary which is inside the Temple.

Strong's Concordance with Hebrew and Greek Lexicon

Genesis 1:1 (YLT)
Strong's Number G3485 matches the Greek ναός (naos), which occurs 46 times in 40 verses in the Greek concordance YLT

Genesis 1:1 (YLT)
Strong's Number G2411 matches the Greek ἱερόν (hieron),
which occurs 71 times in 67 verses in the Greek concordance YLT
ἱερόν hierón, hee-er-on'; neuter of G2413; a sacred place, i.e. the entire precincts (whereas G3485 denotes the central sanctuary itself) of the Temple (at Jerusalem or elsewhere):—temple.

Exodus:40:33: And he reared up the court round about the tabernacle and the altar, and set up the hanging of the court gate. So Moses finished the work.

10: And while they looked stedfastly toward heaven as he went up, behold, two men stood by them in white apparel;

I don't disagree with anything you have said in the slightest (neither with what littlelambofjesus has said).

I studied these things for years, determined that only the book would define itself, refusing any outside input on it that I didn't draw from the Bible myself.

There is as a revelation of Jesus Christ an is to come, and what was, but relationship is not built on one who is not a present truth to us now (whether it is in a form of what was, or what will be, the nature of truth being always in the present to us), one we walk with now, in a garden, which in one form is the reflective truth that our soul is to us.

Now you may not want to take your thread this way, nevertheless ... I'll throw this out there for consideration.

I find that most interpretations of the revelation of Jesus Christ has nothing to do with where Christ is being revealed at (rather it's an over here or over there, and not like Jesus' words to Martha about her perception of in the last day); which the whole Bible is the cohesive, and unfolding narrative of this purpose, that he had purposed in himself before the world was, defined not only as a mystery hidden from the beginning, but as his rest, in the form of something that is forever (having always been this to him) or an absoltue, as much as God is an absolute).

You find the book of revelation (of Jesus Christ) in the OT because all things are moving to this end from the very beginning, in a way that is many faceted, in a woven manner, revealing the same process to this same end, of God all in all.

So to me, there is no great wonder to find it all beginning in the old in forms most don't recognize as having any connection to this end he is to us, until our father opens it to us, by opening it in us.

These things become applicable to us, in a way that defines us.

I agree (that is If I understood what you are saying ☺)

As it was said "If you cannot see Christ in every Scripture you read, go and read it again." Looking at Old Testament types and shadows (amongst other reasons) you can understand what was meant by this. But thats only one half the picture.

Keeping this same thought in mind we now can say "All Scriptures are end time Scripture" for that is when Christ shall reveal Himself in all His Glory by His Spirit because we do not know Him after the flesh but after the Spirit.

Christ and His Bride united in Spirit before the Rapture go in order to meet Him in the air in His corporal body. She's those five wise virgins that made herself ready when the call came "behold, the Bridegroom cometh"

But He is already here now in the form of His revealed Word, the Holy Spirit.

Luke 17:26
“And as it was in the days of Noe, so shall it be also in the days of the Son of man.”

Just like Mary, received the Word first, then overshadowed with the Holy Ghost which brought forth the flesh body setting the pattern for the second coming. (Back to types and shadows again)

Revelation 11:1 And there was given unto me a reed, like unto a staff, saying-- Be rousing! and Measure! the Sanctuary of the God, and the Altar[Golden Altar of Incense?] and them who are doing homage therein;

I can see you know your stuff ☺
