Iv'e been a Christian for awhile love the Lord in fact I'm involved in ministry now. Filled with the Spirit and flow in the gifts especially intercession and prayer, I have a basic understanding of the anointing and see it operating in my life. I'm just hungry though, for more. Iv'e met some people that can prophesy with pinpoint precision, worship leaders like Rick Pino who bring in a crazy anointing in their services but I don't see that kind of increase in my life why? I know that everything is through relationship the anointing is not a formula but when I get a word for someone or when God speaks I hear it clearly and act upon it but sometimes it just isn't as pinpoint as i would like. I don't know I'm just tired of the same ole thing I want to walk in what Peter and Paul walked in. What Smith Wigglesworth walked in, it is said of him that when he prayed with his friends that sometimes the weight of the presence of the Lord would fill the place so strong that his friends had to leave. I want to speak with the authority of like a Leonard Ravenhill. Im only using people as examples I don't want to become them. I'm uniquely gifted because of His grace and nothing more I know my identity and place in Christ but where's the real power at? Fasting, prayer, in the word all of it I practice but the power seems to be blocked.

This is a great question. I want an answer to it also!

I was re-reading the Gospels last night, and it struck me that Jesus spent most of His ministry doing miracles of healing and exorcisms and other miraculous signs. Obviously, I've always known this, and I've known the the early believers often walked in that power. But this time it really disturbed me. We are commanded to be Christ's representatives here on Earth, and I've always thought we did that through loving people. And we are to do that, obviously - but His example is full of power and the anointing, too. All His "good works" involved the supernatural anointing of the Holy Spirit! Like I said, I was suddenly disturbed by this. I've been comfortable in my lack of power, but Jesus' example leaves no option. We are to love others and do it with such an annointing that, like Smith Wigglesworth, our mere presence brings healing and conviction.

Unfortunately, I'm not sure this forum is the best place to ask the question you are asking, however. I wish it were, but I'm really not sure it is. I would love to know how to increase the anointing - there are the commands in Scripture for Holy living, but it seems that some people in the Old and New testaments simply received more power than others and it had little to do with how holy their living was! Like you said, the key is prayer - I know that Smith Wigglesworth and lots of others I admire, like Heidi Baker, spent hours and hours in the presence of Jesus in prayer. But it's hard to maintain that level of consecration and yeildedness! I find that I always go half way up the mountain when Moses would have gone all the way up to meet God face to face. I remain consecrated and yeilded to God for such a pathetic amount of time, it's no wonder the anointing hasn't increased! We should aim to be like Moses, going all the way up the mountain, so that we can return with the glow of God's power like he did.

Another key is who we spend our time with in terms of other believers. If we run with those who are anointed and who are chasing after God and everything He has to offer, we are more likely to see an increase of faith and of His power in our lives. Then, having been filled with power from on high, we can all return together and work in love and power with the broken and doubtful and unbelieving. Connected with this is the concept of impartation. I know many on this forum would unfortunately mock this concept, but it is completely Biblical. Sometimes, God uses one of His servants to bless other one of His servants with more power through the laying on of hands. Perhaps - just as Elisha received a "double portion" of Elijah's spirit and went on to do great miracles, and just as believers after Jesus ascended were filled with power as others already filled with the power of the Holy Spirit layed hands on them - we must also be prayed for by other beleivers filled with power. I know that, for myself, this is how God decided to answer one of my prayers for an increase in faith. For years and years I had been asking for more faith, as my faith was quite pitiful. For reasons I don't understand, it was only when another woman of great faith layed hands on me that I recieved a sudden increase of faith. We all need each other!

Finally, I suppose it is important that we use well what we have already been given. As I'm sure you already know, Jesus taught that if we use what we already have been given and if we already open to His teaching, more and more understanding and more and more resources will be given to us. :)

Because you baptised in the Holy Spirit, you are anointed as much as you ever will be. You have the same Holy Spirit dwelling in you as Smith Wigglesworth and Leonard Ravenhill. You have access to the same almighty power as any of the great men of God had. The Scripture says that if the same Spirit that raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He will make your mortal bodies alive through the power of that same Spirit. It is the same Holy Spirit that brings the power of God into a situation.

An important thing to understand is that when you move in the power of the Holy Spirit you may not feel anything at all. It is the people you minister to who feels the impact of your ministry. For example when you give a prophesy or a word of knowledge to a person, it is that person who feels the impact. You may not feel anything at all. You are acting your faith in God's Word and being obedient to the Holy Spirit's prompting.

I believe that the first principle of moving in God's power is faith. There are strong voices of the world, flesh and devil that fight against faith. There is a lot of pressure to believe what you see and feel over and above what God's Word says. But the Scripture says that faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God. Faith is the assurance of things hoped for and the evidence of things not seen. Once you have learned the lesson of faith, then God sometimes allow manifestations to happen alongside your faith. But if you haven't learned the lesson of faith, you can get trapped in the snare of believing in manifestations instead of God's Word, and the ministry will fail. Look at what has happened to big name ministries that have turned the ministry of the Spirit into spectator sports all full of manifestations. Some of those men have fallen into grievous sin, and God has allowed this to show that the only way to effective ministry is by faith in His Son as shown in His Word.

I have learned that the manifestation of the Spirit and God's power is through His creative word. It is what is said in a meeting that makes the power of God visible. If all prophesy, and an unbeliever comes in, that person will fall on their face after having the thoughts and intents of their heart made manifest and they will worship God, saying that He is among you in reality. God's Word is creative. It can create things out of nothing. He created the whole universe out of nothing through the spoken Word. He can create a healed body when before there was disease through His creative word through the prayer of faith. The prayer of faith is God's creative Word. It's doesn't matter what you sense or how you feel. It all depends on your faith and obedience to God's Word as the Holy Spirit applies it in the situations you face.

You are limited only by the measure of your faith. God has given to each of us the measure of faith to do His work in the world. The only Person He has and ever will give the Spirit without measure to is His Son Jesus Christ. But Jesus has sent the Holy Spirit to live in us so that we can do not only His works but greater. He has given us the authority to use His name to heal the sick and cast out demons. We are only limited by our faith in His Word and His promises.

I am reading Smith Wigglesworth's Collected Works at present. The thing he stresses most is faith. He does not advocate waiting for a sense of God's presence. Faith comes first. We believe, and then we will see. As you confront a situation that needs the power of God, you believe God's Word for that situation and act in obedience on it. Then you see the power of God act. Sometimes you may feel the power of God go through you, and most times you will not. But when you lay hands on someone, they will feel the power of God go through them. Why? Because they are the ones who need for the power to go through them! Not you. Your role is obedience and faith. When you act in obedience and faith, they will experience the power.

So, you have full access to the mighty and creative power of God. You can impart healing and deliverance and words of encouragement to others from the Holy Spirit within you. This is what you are baptised in the Holy Spirit for. Not to have a wallow in sensory manifestations, but to be the representative of Jesus in the Spirit in the world, doing the greater works He has promises that you will do. You are endued with power from on high. All you have to do is to believe it and act on it.

The power will always belong to Jesus. He has sent the Holy Spirit with His tools of trade for you to use. You have the Name of Jesus which, when you use it in faith and obedience, that Name on your lips releases the power of God for the person you are ministering to.

As you grow in faith and obedience, you will realise more and more how insufficient you are without Jesus working with you. You will see that you are totally helpless unless He goes with you to a situation. And you will see that Jesus is your own sufficiency, but also that He is a complete Saviour. You will see that you are co-worker with Him, that the power rightfully belongs to Him and that the power works because of your faith in Him and your obedience to His Word as it speaks to your heart.

Your sins cannot stop the power of God working with all might through you. You are born of God, and the guilt and punishment of sin has been removed and placed on Jesus. You are cleansed from all unrighteousness. You could not have been baptised in the Spirit otherwise, because the Spirit has no fellowship with any darkness. Therefore, the Holy Spirit came to indwell you because you are clean and righteous in God's sight through the purity and righteousness of Jesus imparted to you. Don't let the devil tell you that you are too sinful to move in the power of the Holy Spirit.

So, my advice to you is to believe God's Word. Pray for the sick, release the captives, speak the prophetic word into the lives of others, testify of Jesus to sinners. Believe that the power of God is working through you, even though you have no visual or sensory evidence of it. Remember, faith is the evidence of things not seen. What is seen is temporary. These will pass away, but what is not seen is eternal. The greatest of what is not seen is faith, hope and love. These are eternal. Faith will activate the great creative power of God through you, hope will give you the assurance that things will happen when you obey God's Word, and love is the motivation. When you love others, which I believe you do, that that love will motivate you to step out and believe God for great things.

Don't hold back. God will not fail you. But you need to learn more of the lessons of faith. Step out in faith even if you don't see results right away. Persevere in faith. Keep going forward, reaching out to the future. Don't dwell in the past with its successes and failures. God is moving you on. You are growing in grace and faith. If things are great now, they will be mighty in the future. Let the Spirit lift you higher, take you further in God. Believe His Word and for Him to do great things.

Take care that you don't get into the trap of trying to do things in the flesh to get God to reward you. Spending hours in prayer, Bible study, even speaking in tongues, or doing other religious works in order to get God to reward you for them is self righteousness which God hates. Trust in His mercy and grace, because that is where the power comes from.

But you still pray and study God's Word and do all the other good works, but it is because you love Him and love fellowshipping with Him. You have all the authority and power you need already. You don't need to work for them. But fellowshipping with God in prayer and His Word causes you to be built up in your faith and makes you more sensitive to the voice of the Holy Spirit.

I apologise for the long post, but I trust that this is an encouragement to you. I am not saying that I have attained or have "arrived". I am still an apprentice of the Holy Spirit. It is just that I am sharing with you what the Holy Spirit is saying to me at the moment.

It is a real battle to do things in faith. The flesh wars against the Spirit. We need the armour of God. But He who calls us is faithful and will do what is required in and through us to build up and strengthen the body of Christ.

So you have the full anointing of the Holy Spirit within you right now. Get out there and use it in the Name of Jesus. Glory to Jesus!

Iv'e been a Christian for awhile,
love the Lord. in fact I'm involved in ministry now.
I've met some people that can prophesy with pinpoint precision, but I don't see that in my life; why?
I don't know I'm just tired of the same ole thing.

I'm uniquely gifted because of His grace and nothing more.
I know my identity and place in Christ but where's the real power at?
Fasting, prayer, in the word all of it I practice, but the power seems to be blocked.
Using fasting & prayer, you "want to have the power of
prophesying with pinpoint precision", is that it? & for what purpose?
to help people with what problems? & challenges. - How many have you helped,
as far as guiding  their healing? How great this service is needed, & wanted...

Let me tell you something most folk don't want to hear anymore. If you want to receive anything from Jesus, you have to decrease and be humble as a servant. Seek humility and all else will be added onto you. Nevermind about power if you don't have fruit, we have enough trumpets running around the church today.

Yes, be a humble servant. Make yourself low. The place of authority is the place with no authority - now go figure that one out! ^_^ The place of honor is the place with no honor. But it is true. It is not easy for our flesh. He is working on me in this area now, sometimes it is easy, sometimes hard. That is not a formula, but it is a good thing for anyone who wants to be great in God's kingdom - Mark 10:42-45

I have been wondering alot for a while about the same things as audioartist in his post. Hopefully the Lord will work this thing in me.

JT912,
Your hunger for "real power" is quite commendable, and it's one of the prerequisites for getting it. But I think like Oscar says, your stumbling block is just one: "the first principle of moving in God's power is faith."
Jesus says "Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours" (Mk. 11:24).

If as you say, "Fasting, prayer, in the word all of it I practice..." then you have already received it except that you don't believe it. Believe it.Expect it. Exercice your faith. You will see the results! God bless you

If you fast and pray as much as you do but have no power as you say then you lack faith.

If you don't fast and pray as much as it sounds like you do, then you still lack faith.

The "anointing" comes from closeness to the Lord. A person's "anointing" is a direct reflection of their prayer life. But there are occasions where it is just not your season. And seasons in the spiritual sense can be days, weeks, months or even years. You just need to be patient and continue seeking the Lord.

It helps if you study the word anointed.
Its much the same as appointed.

Once anointed king. David did not require further annointing he didn't need more oil poured on his head for a top up of his kingship.

Just so with Jesus...he said the spirit of the Lord has (done deal) anointed me to heal, preach etc.

Once we receive the holy spirit...“the same holy Spirit that rose Christ from the dead“.. He is in and with us.he has no need of more of himself. But we have more need to die to ourselves that he may live through us.

think the key is worshiping Yahweh - not praise though praise can lead to worship. Agree that everything we do is to be done as unto The Lord. But then there are pivotal points when we get our minds off ourselves and deliberately focus on Yahweh. Praise seems to be more about Him compared to worship that's to Him, adoring Yahweh. It's when we give Him the glory due His name (Psa 96:8).

Worship in heaven includes "...ten thousands times ten thousands saying "Worthy is the Lamb that was slain to receive power, and riches, and wisdom, and strength, and honour, and glory, and blessing."

Hmm... Jesus is real...more real then our best friend our wife.. our kids.. JESUS is real.

So.. ask Him for more. Yes.. it really is that simple. A woman comes to Jesus asks for her kids to sit on His right and lift. So what you say? Well what always gets me is..Jesus never said no. He just told her.. you dont know what you ask. That is not mine to give.

See...unlike some..I find it .. well almost impossible to get Him to say no. Granted.. as some know..when He..that sweet sweet Spirit.. is there..which is IN US.. you find you had GOD ON THE LINE so to speak.. its over...it lifts..... WHAT? I didnt even ASK about.. so many things just vanish from our minds haha.

So...you ask Him.. and He will give you more. For any job He wants us to do....He gives us EVERYTHING we need. Not to much not to less..Just what is needed. No matter what it is..have FAITH! For ALL things are possible with HIM and with us that believe... man HE IS...the sweet sweet Holy Spirit IS.. the Father IS....all IN US! Just what is there you want? ASK HIM..always make sure..its written..even if HE says it.. ask..thank you where is that written? He will ALWAYS be so happy we asked

I agree..but you crossed topics.
A lot.
The holybspurit doesn't leave us...we just stop listening..we are children with short spiritual attention spans.

Just like when we talk to our 3 yr olds.one minute they are listening..the next they are in thier own world not hearing is.but we never left and were still talking. Its a spiritual maturity thing.
The holy spirit does not leave us not forsake us.

True! As we allow His will and ways to increase in the space of our heart, the space of our own will and way will be pushed out. Jn 3:30 "30 He must increase, while I must decrease.”

This.
