  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Is this a coincidence..or?

So I took a day off yesterday to spend time with family and friends to visit a place in Canada that we've never been before. There was a gift shop for tourists with lots of Canadian merchandise and one of the merchandise I saw was a "mood ring". It's basically a ring that you wear that changes color to 'indicate your mood'. Sounds cool, right? I thought so too. So I buy the ring and I wear it throughout the day. Then we arrive home safely and it's night time and I go to bed. I take the ring off, put it on my dresser beside me and after..15 minutes, I feel myself falling asleep..but something happens that's all too familiar.

I soon realize this type of sleep I'm in is 'sleep paralysis'. The type of sleep paralysis where not only can I NOT breathe [or at least it feels like my lungs have been paralyzed as well from breathing] , and not only can I NOT move yet still have a perfectly 'awake mind' in which I am mentally alert but my body is asleep. I can't yell, I can't speak. I suddenly hear, while in this state, a loud high-pitched buzzing sound and a whole lot of scary images that flash in my thoughts one after the other. So I do what I always do whenever I'm in that state which has been incredibly rare for me [once or twice a year]: I mentally repeat the words "Jesus Christ" over and over until the sound stops immediately and I am able to move my mouth and force myself to physically 'get out' of that state by waking myself up more easily than if I hadn't thought of His Name.

My question is.. should I get rid of the ring? Is it a coincidence. Just now, I've been doing a bit of research about it [historical research associated with it] and it seems to tie in with occult practice. On the other hand, I keep telling myself that on a 'chemical level', it's nothing more than some chemicals that change color depending on your body temp. So I'm a bit conflicted but I have no troubles of getting rid of the ring. Plus it wasn't expensive. I've gotten rid of occultic stuff in my room so this addition is something I think may be tied to my rare experience of sleep paralysis.

If anyone has some sort of experiences or knowledge of mood rings or the occult and anything similar and can provide some insight and advice on what I can do, I'd appreciate that.

I've had no experiences like that, nor do I know anyone who has. However, mood rings were once as big a fad as fidgets are today, and anyone can make them work just by putting them on a finger.

There is apparently nothing more to them than the chemical changes you referred to. If I were you, I would get rid of the ring for the sake of your peace of mind, but I do not think there is any real power in them.

Unwanted spirits can be passed through objects.

I never wore anything that has crystal on it. Nevertheless, it didn't stop me from having 'sleep paralysis' when I was younger.

I almost never have it anymore. If I did, it seems I could consciously get out of it almost instantly.

I also hear a sound but my version sounds a lot like a large and powerful tornado or huge crashing wave / huge, rushing water.

I would get rid of it and see if things change. The item could have had a curse placed on it or otherwise be carrying some bad juju. But regardless, it wouldn't hurt to put the ring out of your home and see what happens.

If you have in the past dabbled in the occult, it'd not be good to have
a mood ring...which is used to find out one's mood.
Do you have problem with knowing your own moods?
is it hard to tell when you be: happy? sad? anger etc?

The Bible speaks against divination and occult practices.
Simply put, divination is a practice used to foresee/foretell the future
and or gain hidden knowledge.

I had sleep paralysis which was related to a new medication I was on. When I stopped the medication, the sleep paralysis went away amd never returned.

My mom taught me that whenever something out of the ordinary starts to happen, ask yourself this question - "Has anything changed lately?" (eating different, new medication, anything new brought into the house, etc.)

Mood rings can't determine a mood. They respond to temperature. If you don't believe me, warm your hands under the sink...dry them off and put on the ring...then walk over and put your hands in the freezer and watch it change...presumably your "mood" hasn't changed that significantly by simply opening the freezer door.
