  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Deuteronomy 22:5 says, "A woman must not wear men’s clothing, nor a man wear women’s clothing, for the Lord your God detests anyone who does this."

Not only is transgenderism an abomination to God, it also shouldn't be tolerated by the US military. Our troops need money to pay for equipment in order to win wars. Military funding shouldn't be wasted on weirdos who want to mutilate their genitals to feel like the "right" gender.

I think we could use all the help we can get in the military. If some future war happens and we lose because they had transgenders in their military and we didn't thats kind of a big deal.

Well I think if we're going to have a problem with the money spent on transgender people I have an idea where we can save even more money:
http://nypost.com/2017/07/26/us-military-blows-millions-a-year-on-viagra-for-its-troops/
The US military blows $41.6 million a year on Viagra for its troops — about five times more than the estimated medical costs for transgender servicepeople, according to a new report.
there's a place where they could save even more money!

WOW -- that is a pretty heavy post there! But, I do not disagree.

According to the Bible, eating shellfish is also an abomination. And according to the Bible, women who are caught in the act of adultery are to be stoned to death and witches should be killed (do not suffer a witch to live). Lying is also an abomination to God, but I'm not seeing any moral outrage or a public outcry from conservative Christians over that one. I guess it's easier for them to be complacent and overlook a sin that they would be guilty of committing themselves. Like the old saying goes, "Those who live in glass houses should not throw stones." There's a lot of cherry picking scripture going on.

Talk about wasting military funding...

The military spends five times as much on Viagra as it would on transgender troops’ medical care

Yeah, it's better to waste military funding on spending millions of dollars on a medication that enables older men to have sex. I guess there are quite a few of military men lining up for that one.

Think that you are (way) off subject there. If needed Viagra should be available to all married couples weather in the military or not.

Do I partake -- grateful I don't need it (today).

I do not care about the Bible on this subject. I DO agree that transgenders should not serve in the military, but my reasons are PURELY secular, moreover I have no problem with gays serving openly.

Not really, if the point is to save money why not start with the "big ticket" items first?

There are many others reasons one may not be able to serve and I find some of them kind of crazy, BUT transgenders not serving I have no problem with due to the hate, but also other issues that come up with such people such as which latrine/head they will use and with which gender they will be housed.

A lot of scholarship I've read from all perspectives on that verse tend to accept that it's talking about crossdressing for deceitful purposes like soldiers dressing as women to enter a city undetected, pagan practices, and other such things common practices in the Ancient Near East, not transgender people.

There have always been transgender people in the military, and it hasn't caused any problems until people wanted them to stop serving.
How do you know? I am not meaning to argue I am asking how the issues in the above post have been handled along with how much issue the hate of transgenders has caused in units.

I'm not seeing any moral outrage and public outcry against pornography from conservative Christians either. Jesus did say that if a man looks at a woman to lust after her that he's already committed adultery with her in his heart. Like I said, there's a lot of cherry picking scripture going on.

There have always been transgender Americans, or at least Americans with gender dysphoria.

Thank you for that. It's much wiser to understand the actual context of that verse, instead of taking it out of context to justify objecting to transgender people being in military.

of course but the hate has always been around, as well and that can cause issues.
