There seems to be two ways to take Revelation literally.

1.) John literally saw future events (like a news broadcast) and inaccurately described them the best way he could. In other words, John saw something like this...

2.) John accurately described what he literally saw, and what he saw was symbolic of future events. In other words, John saw something like this...

Personally, I think John accurately described what he saw, which was symbolic of future events. Because there are no actual people/objects described as...

"The shapes of the locusts were like unto horses prepared unto battle; and on their heads were as it were crowns like gold, and their faces were as the faces of men. And they had hair as the hair of women, and their teeth were as the teeth of lions. And they had breastplates, as it were breastplates of iron; and the sound of their wings was as the sound of chariots of many horses running to battle. And they had tails like unto scorpions, and there were stings in their tails."

I believe it was written (under inspiration) to assure Christians across the ages of Gods ultimate victory. Beyond that I have seen a lot of Christians waste far to much time trying to decipher it. To what end? The end for you or I or anyone can come at anytime. I say live your life today like Jesus is returning tomorrow. Because for you; he could.
God Bless
Jax.

I take numbers literally
-so-
a thousand years is a thousand years
-and-
babylon the great is a great city
-so-
I look for a great city that has the following characteristics-
many waters
trade
seven hills
is fallen, is fallen
can be found no more at all
a mystery
etc
the apocalypse is a puzzle with a lot of literal pieces that must fit to be sure you got it right

Neither of your illustrations appears accurate.

It is true, in any case, that
the military battle is going to happen.... (world war III was declared already started a year or two ago by world leader(s) ) ....

So what do you think John saw when he says...

"The shapes of the locusts were like unto horses prepared unto battle; and on their heads were as it were crowns like gold, and their faces were as the faces of men. I think he saw something like the second image in the OP as opposed to something like the first image.

Perhaps not.

It appears the second image is pure myth.

It appears the first image is already seen today , many times in the last century,
and actively being carried out and planned more for his year and following years all around the world.

so go with the figurative so it can be anything you want it to be?

As clearly written in and through Scripture, it is not 'allowed' men (any man),
to interpret Scripture the way they want to ,
nor on their own, nor by the flesh, nor by human eloquence or engineering,
nor in any way contrary to any Scripture -
no,
like dreams, the meaning and interpretation rests with YHWH, as He alone grants understanding even to the least of His little children.

So are you saying you think John saw something like this...

Fifth-Trumpet-02-Locusts.jpg

When he wrote this...

And they had tails like unto scorpions, and there were stings in their tails." (Revelation 9:7-10)

I think he was accurately describing what he saw, which would mean he saw something like this...

It appears quite clearly you have some hidden agenda/ meaning/ delusion you are trying to get someone / anyone to accept, and it is wrong.

AND/ OR/ IT IS A THING being pushed by the enemy through a LOT of so-called 'religious' false prophets false teachers and aposate or heretical groups,
and so it may (at the least) be just something someone told you / showed you/
that you wonder or hope or think is or might be 'true',
but it is still wrong,
no matter who taught you or told you.

No, that is not what figurative means (that the reader gets to choose what a passage means). You need to examine context, original language, historical context, authorial intent, among other things (i.e. proper exegesis of the text).

John both described what he saw and what he was told. Revelation 17 tells you this if yo pay attention.

  1. Rev. 17:1-2 the Angel told John to come and see the Judgment of the Harlot
  2. Rev. 17:3-6 was the Vision of the Harlot riding the Beast.
  3. Rev. 17:7-18 is the Angel explaining to John the things he saw in the Vision.
In chapter 18 it is two Angels who offer up what kind of destruction is coming upon Babylon (World Governance). Its not a vision at all, go read it.

So some were things John "Saw" like the Four Horses etc. etc. And some things were told unto John. Much of Revelation is a code book, go look at the Old Testament and you will see its origins and meanings. Revelation is not a hard book to understand, when you finally grasp its a big code book.

I can't say with any confidence what exactly the locusts might be but if God put them in the Bible it will happen. Demons, drones, vehicles, ssmall robots, who knows for sure. I can say that I know of nothing currently that fits that description.

I think many make a mistake of not taking enough of the Bible literally. Even the parts written very plainly and specifically. Many also make the mistake of attributing way too much of the Bible to have already happened and should be placed in the category of going to happen.
